Just to be clear I'm not comparing this car to the mg midget in any way (!) but I own a midget, which is close enough the exact same size to this and I really think that smallness is an underrated facet in driving enjoyment. The road is relatively so much wider and the sense of speed so much more exaggerated.

While my first car is now a 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk, which is a totally different creature, it is still fairly nimble and has a stick as well.

The polyester bodywork is thinner and sealed to the chassis on the Alpine and bolted on the Dinalpin. Alpine being a direct rival to Bonnet, Chapman agreed to have some of the Lotus engineers help Alpine to develop a car that would embarrass Bonnet and win the Index of Thermal Efficiency at Lemans. With inspiration from the Lotus 23, Bob Dance, Keith Duckworth and Len Terry developed a 2 seater racing prototype based on the Lotus 23. With the help of Alpine this would become the Alpine m64 and Alpine m65. In 1964 Alpine beat Rene Bonnet and won the Index of Thermal Efficiency and went on to become the premier French racing car manufacturer.

I first remember seeing this car in R&T magazine when I was a teenager and it was by far one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen. Some 30 plus years later it still stands true. You touched on something I’ve preached about for years power isn’t everything because unless your on a track you can’t use all that power on a public road. I drive a 115 horsepower Vw Golf with a five speed manual and the gearing is so tight I’m always making power. Today we have cars like the BRZ/Miata that prove just that.
Can't we have the old format back? The essence and the originality of Petrolicious was the connection and stories between the owners and there cars. I can understand that the new owners don't have the same ideas and maybe have different connection in the world of cars than the founder and change is not always bad but I'm maybe harsh but this person is boring. Good racing driver and excellent knowledge of the historic scene (he is very good at that) don't make you a good story teller... I understand it's a business but try to stick a little to the roots of the company and be original and creative otherwise it's gonna be hard, there is tons of boring car reviews channel with big budget videos on RUclips don't become one of them. Hope you will be suceesfull and listen a little bit to us little keyboard fan, cheers, a fellow petrolhead !

I don't know man, this guy knows his stuff, and the videos are still very well done. While the previous format did give you that connection of the owners time with the vehicle, a few too many of those owners were quite frankly, unlikeable, pretentious, hipster wankers.

At least this video doesn't have constant music over the sounds of the engines. The old video did that and it drove everyone nuts. They finally have the music in the appropriate places and you can hear the engine notes.

They also built their own sports coupés, the CG 1000, 1200 & 1300. Marc Mignotet, who was Alpine in-house "sorcier", also helped to develop Gordini engine bases for competition cars.
Format is getting better... but the driving cuts at the end would've been great with just car noises, and maybe a microphone in the engine bay or near exhaust
The roofline is so low! Like a Lotus Europa. You are almost lying down when you drive these cars. So fun and so visceral. A golden era of sports cars that you could basically drive home from the dealership, then go rallying on the weekend. Fantastic!
Guys, Looks like they will only listen when we will mass dislike these new format videos. We were only attracted to this channel because of the format, now that you have taken it away we don't see anything special in this channel. It's all out there beautiful cars, a knowledgeable reviewer, awesome locations but what you are missing is the story. The story of the owner of the car was what made this channel special. If we wanted to know the history or specs of the car we have a plethora of channels like Doug DeMuro for an example. He has his own format, he turns the car upside down and shows us what does the car consist of a whole. You were made on stories of the real owners, not reviewer, I don't want a great format to be washed down into a generic TV series. This is bad for us, your viewers, and for you as well. I hope maybe you look a little bit into the comments and you will find answers. My suggestion: "If you really want a face for this channel, like this reviewer, make him/her sit with the owner and let them narrate the stories and maybe input some history and specs from your representation. And show us how the actual owner drives it/care for it, like this channel used to." This reviewer is okay but it doesn't feel like Petrolicious we know, it's more like a BBC channel or something
To be fair I would love to abstain from a general opinion of the car and much rather hear about how the owner has found, bonded and has taken care of his prized possession

My three favorite classic cars are all rear engined and oh so timelessly pretty: the Chevrolet Corvair; Porsche 911; and the Alpine. I would most love to own the Alpine, in rally spec😍
Beautiful car, beautiful drive. I've known about the A110 for quite some time, but somehow didn't realize just *how* small they are (never seen one in person). That's quite a bit of camber on the rear, too.

I'm lucky to own a Lotus Elan +2 and see a lot of similarity in some of the angles. I laughed out loud when he got out and the car literally became "knee high to a grasshopper". Great vídeo, a fantastic, fabulous car. Saw them in Rallies all over Europe Too bad the Type B Rallies are no more, after a handfull of accidents. Against Public opinion, .Authorities Public por an end to the Type B Cars. Truly, B Type cars were isent of rules and regulations. Constructors went wild, loading the vehicles with whatever they desired. And B Type Rally Cars became real beasts, quite dangerous to be driven in all kinds of narrow roads -- snow, wet, muddy pavemnts, gravel, etc. And the narrow roads were "coated " with fanatic spectators, who wouldn't move and even invaded most of the "extra-slim" Road. .

I think everyone is being critical of the content because of the difference in format. I say what's wrong in seeing more content? The host, Sam Hancock is pretty good imo and we get to see all these cars. I see this as a good thing
I like this format and it definitely is getting better. We all miss the old, owner story on the car, but this is different. This is basically an article on the car, but in video format. Keep it coming I still like your videos. A combination of both would also be great. Have sone videos in this format and some on the old, owner perspective format

Too bad the Type B Rallies are no more, after a handfull of accidents.
Against Public opinion, .Authorities Public por an end to the Type B Cars.
Truly, B Type cars were isent of rules and regulations.
Constructors went wild, loading the vehicles with whatever they desired.
And B Type Rally Cars became real beasts, quite dangerous to be driven in all kinds of narrow roads -- snow, wet, muddy pavemnts, gravel, etc.
And the narrow roads were "coated " with fanatic spectators, who wouldn't move and even invaded most of the "extra-slim" Road. .
Sam's cadence and presentation pays homage to the great Alain de Cadenet.....well done!

I recall seeing a similar car drive on the high way in front of a truck. For a moment I genuinely believed someone was driving in a toy car on the high way!
I think everyone is being critical of the content because of the difference in format. I say what's wrong in seeing more content? The host, Sam Hancock is pretty good imo and we get to see all these cars. I see this as a good thing

I like this format and it definitely is getting better. We all miss the old, owner story on the car, but this is different. This is basically an article on the car, but in video format. Keep it coming I still like your videos. A combination of both would also be great. Have sone videos in this format and some on the old, owner perspective format

Can we have videos with ordinary people and their ordinary classics? i appreciate supercars etc, but those videos which showed 'ordinary' people with their 'ordinary' cars were so good. There are plenty of channels, magazines, programmes which cover expensive classics.
