I like the 210 back panel on the waxed canvas M23 more than the waxed canvas back panel on the Heritage GR1. I have both, but only want to keep one of them. I do have a regular GR1, but the Heritage one is nicer.

I don't think it's part of the Heritage line because it's not MiUSA and also the leather is not Redwing leather compared to the actual Heritage editions. ALTHOUGH I do note there's a patch inside that SAYS Heritage.

have you tried ruck plate in the bomb proof compartment and laptop in the sleeve of the main compartment? wondering it that would work out well

Does it feel taller than a gr1?
21L M23 is about the same height as a 26L GR1, but it doesn't feel that way.

I don't understand why they decided to remove the water bottle pocket. This style without it will be a pain to use.
They didn't remove it. It's a zipped water bottle pocket.
