  • Duane, Evelyn, and Alex run the Nueces River from Chalk Bluff to County Road 405. We took our Jackson Coosa, Liquid Logic Manta Ray 12, and Native Manta Ray 11 for the roughly 4.5 mile trip. 105 cfs was the water flow, we did get out a couple times for shallow areas. Beautiful scenery highly recommend this trip!

    I've past through here on my kayak. I dropped in at the 19 mile crossing, & kayaked to the next crossing. I've gone at least 10 or 12 miles. Of course that was when the river was running pretty swift but clearly. I loved every moment.

      Can I ask you How long did it take you to do that trip To highway 90

    • @brettsoyars4341

      @@javierortiz1296 Probably 6 to 8 hours at the most. Depends on how fast the river is flowing really.

      @@javierortiz1296 Last time I kayaked to hwy 90 from there was in the summer of 2015. I dropped in around 4:00Pm & got to the bridge around 10:30 or 11:00 that night. Of course I stopped in places along the way. But I would say probably about 6 hours at the most. 8 or 9 hours if you plan do some fishing along the way. I have seen a few fish. They're not too big.

    how far down stream can you kayak before the river goes underground?

    • @brettsoyars4341
      @brettsoyars4341 Год назад +1

      After a good rain & the river is running good, you can kayak as far as you want. During dry spells however, parts of the river will be dry, with no water, & other places on the river will have a ton of water, the river is very much sustained cause of a few springs that help the river hold water in those areas. Check out the HWY 90 bridge, which is usually pretty dry, & the HWY 83 bridge which usually has water. You'll see what I'm talking about.

    By any chance is it good for kayak fishing??

      Gerardo, we didn't fish so I cannot answer that question. I know folks fish on the lake by Camp Wood. If you're looking to paddle the river, make sure you have 75 CFS at least - 100+ CFS is better.

    How did you get back to your put in point after the river trip?

      @tgcanoesandkayaks  5 лет назад +1

      David, we had 2 vehicles so we ran our own shuttle. That said, Chalk Bluff Campground does offer shuttle service.

      Hi David, we had two trucks with us so we could run our own shuttle. We left one at the takeout before we started our trip.
