Woohoo!! I clicked instantly I honestly don’t think the museum understands how we “me especially “ lay waiting for ASMR uploads.! It’s like museum lover and a ASMR lovers match in heaven ❤️
It's wonderful to see the actual camera of a photographer from the past in working condition being demonstrated. Paneth was obviously in a great position to take advantage of the very tricky autochrome process. It's also wonderful to see how he could use it as an 'instant' process. Not only would it be the first time most of his students had seen themselves in a natural colour photograph, but to see themselves portrayed in the setting before they'd even left it wouldn't be easy until polaroids, and wouldn't be common until digital.
I’ve always loved looking at autochrome photographs. The colors are so rich and vibrant and exquisite! It makes the past seem much less remote, I think.
Love the handling of devices, there is a TV series called Archive 81 in which the main character repairs old cassette players, and has the same feeling than this video, the meticulousness and gentle treatment of the machines makes me sleepy 🙂
Just think it is highly unlikely that any of those students are alive today. Something that always fascinates me when you see a photo from 100+ years ago and you think none of the people in the photo will still be alive nor probably could contemplate they would be seen by people long after they had gone.

I really appreciate the way the V & A manages to make such relaxing and extremely interesting videos
the videos in this series are truly some of the most beautiful on RUclips… beautiful objects, beautiful history, beautiful ASMR
