studying him right now in my dance class. He is so amazing and its so cool how his songs just seem like they are the dances twins. They just go together so perfectly.
Happy Birthday Ben Vereen (born October 10, 1946) A actor, dancer, and singer who has appeared in numerous Broadway theatre shows. May God grant you everlasting happiness, knowledge, love and understanding for many many more years to come!!🎂🎁🎈🎊🍷🍷🎉🎂
Ben Vareen. One of Fosse's favourite Dancers/Singers. Have you seen the movie "All That Jazz"? He does the amazing number at the end of that "Bye Bye Your Life"
Anyone know where I might find a full arrangement of this exact piece? By full I mean with band and vocal arrangements?! Or could someone at least tell me who the arranger is? Thank you!
The synchronization and the overall feeling of this adaptation is very, very different from Liza with a Z, which is a little strange, because I thought the Fosse revue was supposed to celebrate the spirit of 'Fosse.' In the "Liza" version, every single dancer seemed to move with a purpose, and they had a little flair with the little subtle steps. In this one, I just don't feel the energy coming from the dancers or singers =/
Pack up all my care and woe, Here I go, Singing low, Bye bye blackbird, Where somebody waits for me, Sugar's sweet, so is she, Bye bye Blackbird! No one here can love or understand me, Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me, Make my bed and light the light, I'll be home late tonight, Blackbird bye bye. Pack up all my care and woe, Here I go, Singing low, Bye (bye) bye (bye) blackbird. (tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo) Where somebody waits for me, Sugar's sweet, so is she, Bye (bye) bye (bye) blackbird. (tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo tchoo) No one here can love or understand me, Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me, (Oh oh oh oh) Make my bed, light that light, I'll be home late tonight, Blackbird... Make my bed and light the light, I'll be home late tonight, Leave you bird jet in the sky Toodle oo! Farewell! Bye bye! Blackbird (Blackbird,Blackbird) We'll take the flying little blackbird bye!
for those of us who saw the original production of this on broadway, you know this is a total embarrassment. not to discount mr. vereen, but he was way too old and out of shape to be involved with this, and certainly to try and dance anything "fosse"! not sure why reinking allowed this to happen, as the stage production was without flaw. yet, this was what was preserved on film! go figure!!!!!
I think the reason why this one was recorded was because Ben was in it. While I don't think he's bad I just think some of the numbers weren't for him. He's much better in Razzle Dazzle and the Glory than right here.
romanaskas west I'm going to assume you didn't see the video or know what and why it was done , I have it and he even says he is way old for it but this video was a tribute to bob fosse and as his original student he was doing some of this . Knowing the story might help you not look like an idiot.
yes of course i've seen the video(though that does not make it any better) duh!!! if i had not, i would not have seen ben, as he was not in the broadway production, which i assume you did not see. doesn't matter the reason or excuse about which you blubber so passionately, the broadway staging was brilliant, this is far, far from it. yet this is the one preserved to film, go figure.......

I'm dancing this excact choreography in my jazz class! I's so excited!
Super stuff - I love what Fosse does to enhance each and every number he sets to movement - with a mixture of humour and rhythm!

Dorie Fann-Purry I think you're an ignorant twat
Fantástico Bob Fosse. Imortal! Ben Veren e bailarinos perfeitos. Inesquecível!
Doing this song for a fosse performance at my college, only just learnt about Bob Fosse and he truly is amazing
Shane Rice same
Doing these movements is harder then it looks it is all about isolations of the body and how centers connect and how strong your core is.
Is a magnificent song
We're replicating this choreo in class, and even thought it's really fun, it makes my lower back hurt (I have back problems).
Same, we are replicating it too!
Love FOSSE - great show, great choreographer :)
For my spring show, this is my part in it and just seeing this just now shows the pure beauty of dance.
I like the lead singer's voice. Very Powerful and Very Pure. :)
I wish to see a very nice broadway shows in the near future ;)
You know you’re talking about Ben Vereen, a Tony winner

I paid $100.00 for the "Fosse" DVD. Worth every penny. I'll never get to experience this any other way.

Great number - SO Fosse, a blind man could name that choreographer in this nimber!
Mmmm. Delicious choreography.
Thumbs up if anyone thinks the phrase "That's so Fosse" like "That's so cool/sexy" should become a part of the English language.

Cool
I use this song 4 dance
Aw, he isn't wearing the weird knee shorts Liza had. Those were integral to the piece! :P
The Lead Sancer is the uncle of Webster (The TV Series)
I feel like this routine was supposed to be performed at a low scale dance recital...

Stop on 2:12 - so many layers!! :D
Although it would be difficult to categorize this one as elevator music - one might not ever want to hear this recording ever again.
I'm doing this song for my dance class our dance is similar that but better ours is a lot better I mean a lot better
