Thanks for the reply to my email Stefan and the great advice.
I should have mentioned in my first question that I was someone who lived abroad and is looking to get started on a freelancing platform(s) instead of working locally. With the language barrier and lack of connections I think using something like Upwork would be more advantageous for me.
But yes, I think the two main points to take from this video would be to not marry the technology you use and to be able to 'pivot' between technologies on demand. Also, as you mentioned, to develop your ability to learn on the go! I hope my questions and your answers help lot's of people.
    Thanks again!

One thing to add, which Stefan has mentioned many times before, is domain knowledge-ie knowledge of some outside external area of activity.
Are you an avid cyclist? Look into that as your niche. Avid reader? What can you do for bookshops, libraries, maybe setup your own bookseller ecommerce site.
Whatever it is-leverage any domains you know, that will give you an 'in' with business owners in the niche.

Solid advice Stefan. I recently bought your freelance course and am about halfway through the CSS section of your web development course. I am really enjoying it a lot so far and I like the emphasis you give on learning the fundamental principles. I wanted to ask you, do you have any advice for a newbie freelancer for finding out where the demand is at in the local area? I am targeting small logistic companies since I have the most experience in this industry. However my experience has been mainly with larger corporations such as Hyundai and large scale distribution centers. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how to get involved in the local area with the intention of learning more about the technical demands in the market. Thanks a lot!

Stef, what are some resources for market research? This may be a simple, or complicated question to answer, but for those of us at the genesis of our programming tenure, taking your advice of researching market demand, are there any tools you know of that can assist in this venture? I understand there are macro-level indicators insofar as language-to-task (i.e. PHP/webstack, Python/Ai/ML), but what about a more localized, micro-level tool? Basically, how would one begin his/her market supply/demand research to determine the best way to enter into the programming arena? Thank you very much, Stef, for all your videos and content. They're very informative, and helpful. I'm trying to break out of my current profession and into programming, having only been exposed to Python basics, but it's slow goings so far. Anyways, thanks again. I appreciate you and your channel. Take care.

Hey Stefan, could you make another video on React Native and Flutter and how it looks going forward to 2020? Asking because I'm a (for the most part) React developer but I've never really been a huge fan of RN, feels kinda clunky and slow.

When you say let the market choose, how do we go about researching our local market. For example, I live in New York so how would I go about researching that.
Also how do we pick a niche that allows us to avoid having to constantly lower our price to compete with other devs?

Unfortunately, you have to choose something that you know because we all tend to take jobs to "learn" but it's not ok.. if you are doing a good job you are going to get more so you need to learn on the side to have more options for jobs.
