    FDR's Second Bill of Rights (1944)
    Every American has the right to:
    1. A job
    2. An adequate wage and a decent living
    3. A decent home
    4. Medical care
    5. Economic protection during sickness, accident, old age or unemployment
    6. A good education

    • @Arwing-t3r
      @Arwing-t3r 12 дней назад +6

      Employment isn't guaranteed and never has been. People are paid way less than what a decent living means. Too many are homeless, let alone live in decent homes. Don't get me started about our healthcare system. No one is protected by anything or anyone if they get sick, experience accidents, get old or are unemployed. Oh sure, there are programs like Unemployment, Social Security, Insurance that we pay out the backside for!, and ARE GENERALLY NOT paid sick leave. Sure there are structures, but are we given enough? A good education? Most of America's education has been lobo'd for ages. Too bad those in power don't much try to uphold this second bill of rights without nasty hooks and twists. 😑😑😑😑

      I think I know a way around some of this. I am a disabled veteran, but I managed to get my masters degree in CS before all of this, and was already in my PhD at the time. I was mainly into computational linguistics and theoretical CS, but a few of these things I think I know how to work around. I just don't know how to deal with security issues, and I would need to get up to speed with the plug in architecture in these browsers. YT comment censorship is the easiest one. It's possible to create a kind of internet messaging relay system where a unique message board can be created from a hash of any video on here (or any website or news article for that matter). Using existing css editing plugins, you should be able to integrate this directly into YT. Google would have no control over that message system. Neither would the video creators. News stations that turn comments off to stifle dissent against their propaganda would be powerless. The other ideas are not yet worked out. I am still disabled and can't do everything on my own. Also cannot be responsible for security as I never learned any of that. But I am telling you, there are ways around all of this. The basic barebones proof of concept would just be a standalone website that generates a message board for every YT video somebody wants to make a comment for. Next step would be integrating that into browsers. Search is the one I really want to tackle, but I think if I can do this, then I can get people to help with the really difficult problem. Like.. I would get rid of the recommended videos on that side pane and populate it with the non-corporate message board.

    Kyle you're right on the money. In the mid 90s I had a class at the university of Louisville with Greg Kitzman. He had foreseen and taught about this back then. He discussed the greater widening chasm between those with and those without. The first lesson was on the Matewan coal strikes and the battle on Blair Mountain. It was the classic tale of unionization of the coal mines that the coal company fought hard against. I directly identified with this since I am from Appalachia and know all too well about Matewan. I encourage anyone interested to look up the history. There is even a movie about called Matewan about Matewan starring James Earl Jones. The coal company tried to use racial differences as a wedge. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what color you are. You are all workers trying to put food on the table. Oh how I would love to hear Greg Kitzman's take on today's current events. He is/was a wealth of knowledge. His class was an eye opener on economic inequality and was instrumental in further developing my critical thinking.

Me and many people in the younger generations don't have realistic dreams of owning a house before we're 40. This means that we don't have realistic dreams of having a family of our own that we can raise and care for. Life is starting to look very bleak for young people.

Here in India, many people (especially those from and supporting the ruling dispensation) are constantly criticising Pandit Nehru (who was a social democrat) for his policies. Is this guy serious about the 80 years being problematic without the ceo and founder? Anheuser-Busch was founded in 1852. Is he against them for being without their founder for so long? The Walt Disney Corporation has been without its founder since 1966. Are they just a few years from being an abject disaster? What an embarrassingly ridiculous and preposterous notion.

    Corporations are governed by board of directors. They are appointed by CEOs which is why the CEO is paid crazy amounts of money. Many board directors are also over paid (Paul Ryan). This would not work for government.

      To me this isn't an argument. The point of Social Security is for there to dependably be some income in later years, to avoid people living and dying in the streets. Those of us who never made big bucks need this the most, and we don't have iinvestment accounts, and never had the disposable income to invest. Handing people like us, the majority, "the money they put in" is not the answer because it wouldn't be enough to live on. Privatizing and putting the money in the stock market is gambling. People need something rock solid that can't be taken away. And people deserve that. Their idea is that only "the deserving" should have such security, even as modest as it is.

    Yes, but FDR had an effective, consistent, clear communication with most voters via his "fireside chats" on radio. What the Left needs to do is shift away from the oligarch owned MSM propaganda outlets and into independent media. Communicating constantly your message and controlling the framing of the issues wins elections with broadly popular ideas.
