NEW ELECTRIC VAN from BYD with hints of The Arrival Van

  • @BYDEurope Will be launching a LARGE VAN that will of course be all electric! You cant escape the fact that it is remarkably similar to the @ARRIVALUK Van that did not quite get to market
    There will two types
    1. Electric delivery van
    2. Electric Large Panel Van
Slightly different configurations but essential the same basic vehicle with either a cavernous 18m cube or a slightly smaller but still very big 14m cubed.
An 80kWh battery, giving around 160 miles of range will probably need to have an upgrade option to gain ground on competitors. Their "Blade battery" technology will answer the worry about #battery and THERMAL RUNAWAY, as it seems impossible to make that to happen with this battery!
Drivers will be happy as they jump behind the wheel of this well laid out van for sure, but we weren’t allowed to put that on camera for now!
All in all a great first stab at a large van for the European market for this #chinese manufacturer

It is easy to be critical. But it looks much better than ICE vans designed to be converted to EV.
It wont be a long distance van, but great for local businesses or trades. As ever the issue will be price, and i know leasing is the way but for small businesses having monthly overheads is less desirable than owning outright sometimes.
In my own experience i bought a plug in hybrid as 25% of my journeys are last minute 100s miles. But the other 80% i can do on the 35-40mile EV only part.
The error is to think people can afford EVs as a second car at those prices.
Taken decades for the Dacia spring for example that gets laughed at bit is actually one of the most important EVs for the price.
Vans seem to have fallen through the cracks but are actually the most important EVs out there for city driving and miles.

@@electricvanman oh sorry, extended range ev-a type of phev/hybrid. It's the new rage in China. It's having a gas engine that acts as an electricity generator for the electric motors. Way more range, no fear of missing a charging station. Can charge itself on the go, basically but also can plug in. Examples: byd yangwang U8, byd shark. Li auto l9, voyah free. Many more coming quickly as hybrid/phev growth is crushing Bev growth in China and globally.

For vehicles doing rounds the mileage and therefore value propersition is already known, add that there is a second possible revenue steam selling the power back to the grid when they return to the yard (at peak prices) make these a tempting propersition. There are other unique points too such as the silent running allowing deliveries 24*7 or the battery power being available to run tools and equipment
