Great video thank you!!....What happened to Narita Airport? I remember it used to be the main int´l airport and most common way to get to Tokyo from overseas
It is still primary for international, but Haneda is growing. Haneda is domestic based tho. Still there are flights from lax-hand and sfo-hand on Ana and Jal.
I’ve taken this flight in economy, premium and business, just missing out on first. All three classes offer amazingly good hard products. Economy has the 34” seats and while the 3” difference from ANA sounds like a small change, at 6’3” tall, I could feel it. Only complaint is I’d prefer the 2-4-2 configuration so my wife and I can sit without a third party. PE, at 42” seats that are in a hard shell are really comfortable. The 2-4-2 cabin is great too. And it sounds crazy, but the 2-3-2 configuration on the 777 in Business is one of the most comfortable day’s sleep I’ve had on a plane. I prefer that seat to the 1-2-1 on the 787 where the footwell is at an odd angle and kind of small for people of my height and foot size. Great airline.
I know of no airlines these days that offer any choice for the pre-arrival meal/snack. In fact, most airlines only serve a small snack, not a hot meal on a tray. The fact that Japan Airlines still serves a pre-arrival hot meal is commendable. BTW, it should also be mentioned that JAL serves their own original beverages such as "Sky Time" and also wines that are created specially for JAL. Should also be noted that their entertainment screen has a special coating so that if you look at it from an angle, i.e. from the seat next to you, the screen looks just dark so your entertainment will not bother the person next to you trying to sleep. I know of no other airlines that is so thoughtful.
Every Transpacific Economy flight I’ve had served a 2nd meal option for the pre-arrival meal; Asiana, All Nippon Airways, and even United Airlines had a choice. Japan Airlines is great but I don’t think they are best best out there to be honest.
@@GlobalAviationTravelIt depends we may have different experiences but for me JAL is solid, even more so than CX And some other Asian airlines, sometimes CX is inconsistent in onboard service, The service is the most important aspect for me in my own opinion,
3-4-3 isn’t that bad. It’s js a thinner aisle and 0.5 inch less width. I think people make a big deal about it when the flight attendants who primarily use the aisle are the ones who suffer.
@@SFAvgeek it’s not just that, if you’re stuck on the 3 or 3 you have to worry about 2 people needing to get up and use the bathroom instead of one . All good on a 4 hour light ; on long haul. Horrible
I prefer JAL over AnA anyday the seat width is way better and the food. The only thing that let's it down is the lack of movies and they tend to make the cabin uncomfortably warm
I think B is a fair and impartial score for this particular JAL flight. I agree with your observation regarding the relative lack of entertainment and second meal options. That being said…as a fairly frequent Japan-based flyer who always, always flies in the back of the plane, I will choose JAL over ANA in a heartbeat. ANA crams more passengers in Y class, and seems to sell a cool image more than a solid, dependable product and service. More than anything, JAL has a no-nonsense attitude towards safety, as evidenced by their safety video which bucks the trend toward entertainment. They take pains to visualize WHY you must evacuate the aircraft empty-handed with no heels on. Need proof? Look no farther than flight 516 on 02JAN24.
Despite the weak IFE and probably higher cost than US legacy carriers give the choice I’d take JAL. Ten abreast seating with 31” pitch and 17” wide seats on AA and UAL are a stark reminder that these carriers don’t give a damn about economy class passengers . I avoid them unless it’s a free award ticket .
I was looking at JAL to carry my family from Los Angeles to Tokyo for our December vacation in Japan. But their economy airfares were outrageous. ANA wasn't any much better. We settled for United. Maybe next time if JAL or ANA airfares get more competitive.

JAL is a 5-star airline for a reason. Looked very impressive for economy.
what a 'varied' combination of dishes for that first meal
I will be flying there on JAL on the week of June 16, 2024!
ooh i leave june 14th on a class trip… wishing you a happy time! 😊
How was your trip? I’ll be flying there from LAX on Tuesday. First time in Japan and I can’t wait!
For a chance to see mt Fuji during this route, is it better to sit on the left or right side?
Its great that JAL still has 3-3-3 in the 777 and 2-4-2 in the 787. No other airline does that.
Garuda Indonesia doest that too!
Air China also have 3-3-3 (and 2-5-2) on their B777s, and Turkish Airlines have 3-3-3 AND great food in Economy
ANA used to fly their 777’s with 2-4-2 and 34”. Sadly, the SFO-HND flight now uses a 777 that’s configured 3-3-3 with only 31” seats.
SIA have 3-3-3 too!
Korean air has 3-3-3 seating in their 77w and ana has 3-4-2 in their 77w
Jal seems to be one of the few with 2-4-2 in their dreamliner though
I love the 777-300ER
Did the cabin run on the warmer side since there are no personal vents?
You should try ZIPAIR Tokyo back to SFO or to SJC from Narita
Narita is really inconvenient if coming from western Tokyo

Love it man I wanna go there someday to see some paradise and buy Manga anime and see how the city is
So what if you had a tight connection and you were 22 minutes late. Do they wait till you get your connection or. Do you try to fly next available ??
I am making reservation on same route SFO/HND but the 777 seating show 2-4-2 , I have double check and it not 787 ?
R u Looking at the seat map for premium economy maybe?
@@GlobalAviationTravel I checked the flight JL-1, it seem they switch back and forth. So I am happy to get the 787
I’m 6’5” and have a seat in 54 G from ORD to HND on this model plane. Will I survive?
It will be tight maybe try to upgrade to an exit row or premium economy
@@GlobalAviationTravel hard to upgrade as I booked on AA and it’s a code share.

I think only Korean also offers 34' pitch as standard in economy
Interesting that both meals were served with pork. Not sure if that would suit everyone. Im glad I saw this video. Thanks.
There is plenty of opportunity to choose the meals, online long before the flight date. JAL caters for all possibilities.
I love 777 operators with a 3-3-3 configuration. The seats are more wider and there's more legroom.
Supposedly how the 777 was meant to be
terrible layout

I heard the Japanese food on jal is good what are you going to eat in Japan mac and cheese
Why is there adobo in japan airlines?❤😂
That was a smooth landing for a long haul flight, most long haul flights have hard landings.
Depends on the weather. And the pilot.
0verbroad generalization. I flew on long haul 77W, A359, A35K and A35K flights in the last 2 weeks, and all landings were butter.
The Boeing 777-300ER is famous for its very smooth landings.
What a daft thing to write !

Man, that was 1 empty airport
