I believe this was my first camera in 1972. Interested in getting one as I still shoot film from 35mm, 6x6 and 4x5 to this day. My hobby shooting. Digital for most of the work. Let me know the availability of the Petri. Thx Keep up the great videos. Truly love these videos you make.
You might enjoy hearing about this. 10 or 15 years ago my wife returned from an estate sale with a Petri E.Bn "Color Corrected Super" rangefinder with the big bug-eye selenium light meter. Made by "Kuribayashi Camera Industry, Inc. Japan". It has a Kuribayashi A.C. (in red) Petri Orikkor 1:1.9 f=4.5cm lens. It seems to be in pretty good condition and the light meter still works! The winding lever return is sluggish and perhaps the shutter might be slow, I'm not sure. I used it for a bit when I first got it and exposures on Tri-X were OK but I haven't used it in years. I always preferred my Yashica Electro, back when it still worked. I assume that it's older than the camera you discussed here? Great video!
I too just found a Color Corrector 1.9 Petri rangefinder at an estate sale yesterday and have fallen down the rabbit hole of research. Im a complete newbie. I have been so excited to start shooting until after learning more about these mechanical gems and realizing the shutter is missing. I suspect i can’t afford to fix it but I’m here to try to do it myself perhaps! At 48 years old, I’m still able to pull something like that off I hope! Any knowledge is welcome to help me!
I have this exact same camera in my collection. I plan to put it back into service this summer, as I doubt it would like the -20C temperature we are having.
I had one decades ago, along with the Petri 7S. The lens was pretty , but a bit low on contrast. I still have a 7S, but this camera was not worth keeping.
Thanks for the nice review, you mentioned the ranger finder system of this camera is least wonderful, so how does it work, does it have parallax correction of some soft ? does the f/2.8 version have the same design ? thanks and have a nice day !
I recently came onto my father-in-law's Petri 2.8 Color Corrected and is in for a thorough service. BTW, does this model of camera have screw on lenses? Enjoyed your video! Best Regards, Jay
At least this camera has very nice looks, the green glass makes it look as no other. But in the end, what really matters is the lens performance. Someone mention the Agfa Optima Sensor 1035, great lense and metering camera.
To take off the top cover, is that a threaded washer under the rewind knob? I see only one screw on the right side of the top plate to remove. My shutter button has failed and I want to see about fixing it.
@@japanvintagecamera8869 There is a washer under the rewind knob that has two slots on either side, like you could use a spanner wrench to untighten. It must be as there are no screws on that side of the top plate. I will let you know if it so.
When I was in junior high and interested in photography and using an Olympus Pen, a classmate had this Petri. Always envied her.
Thanks for this video. I just bought one of these and can't wait to get it!
well, mine is the f1.9. excited regardless!
I just ordered the 1.9 myself, I hope it works :D

FWIW McKeown's Camera guide commented, regarding the Petri Color corrected Super 2.8 and 1.8.or 1.9, "high quality taking lenses".

There may be a washer under the rewind knob, some top covers fit higher than others, and will have a washer to stop any rubbing.

Have you ever repaired an Agfa OPTIMA 1035 sensor?
My yelow patch just faded away, any solutions? 😌
