She was around 26 for this and heading into her best years. The variety of her repertoire is truly versatile and amazing as she has grown older but I appreciate the purity of her voice most in her classical younger years. I can't stop searching for anything and everything she has ever sung.
This Texan does not know a word of Norwegian, but does understand the universal language of music, especially as sung so perfectly by SISSEL!!! 👏👏👏🎀🎀🎀❤❤❤
1995, and Sissel's Star is definitely in its assentation, destined to become one (if not THE) brightest in the world of music !! This is the pure, crystalline voice that established HER place at the zenith of the musical firmament !! She looks a little here like Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music" -- She even sounds British !! This was an important event in Sissel's career. Based on this Prince's Trust performance (O Mio Babbino Caro and Vitae Lux) alone, Sissel sold, in England alone, more than 20,000 copies of her 1994 CD, Innerst i sjelen, which had 100% Norwegian lyrics and did not include either of these two songs. She had never previously released a CD outside of Scandinavia. Innerst i sjelen was released in England ONLY because of the public response to this performance.🥰🥰
@@Aelwyd10YES, in the world of music, that was truly an "epoch-marking" event, and you were blessed and fortunate to be in attendance ! One of the regrets of my life is never to have had the honor to be at one of Sissel's live performances. Now, she only does Christmas concerts November and December in Scandinavia. 😪😪
IMHO I think the 90’s and early 2000’s where when Sissel was at her absolute peak...virtually a perfect soprano.. She is still my favorite performer today and her angelic voice still sends shivers down my spine. She is a gift from heaven Her voice evokes such joy and pleasure
Just came across this performance. I love Sissel's voice, even appreciate it better when it further matured, got smoother and agrees more with the more pop like songs she sings. But this performance of these songs that I know so well from her later performances (> 2012) placed on youtube sounds a m a z i n g, unbeleivable clear and pure. It is still ringing in my head, a real pearl.
It was the performance to commemorate the 50th anniversary of VE (victory in Europe) Day, i.e the end of fighting in Europe in 1945, so that makes the date of the concert 1995. I actually have a VHS recording of this because I was watching it live on telly and quickly slammed on the recorder when this came up, because my wife and I thought "Oh wow, what a voice!!" Hve been an ardent fan of this superlative singer ever since
That's funny. Me too only I got the whole concert. Yes it was the first time I heard Sissel and she blew my mind her voice was so good. The first song was mesmerising and the second with Gli Scapoli captured me forever and I've been a devoted fan ever since. Those strong bass voices and her soaring silver tenor voice - angelic!
Prince Charles is good at spotting remarkable singers. That's why she's there at the RVP. But it was the veritable Terry Wogan (RIP) who, almost 10 years earlier, when he was doing the UK's commentary for the 1986 Eurovision, then coming from Norway, heard the 16 year old Sissel sing in the interval and knew he was hearing something extraordinary and said so to all of us watching at home.
For those of you who have wondered what the voice of an angel might sound like -- you need wonder no longer !! ============================================================================================== Vitae Lux (Light of Life) is a popular melody written by Norwegian guitarist Frode Alnæs. From Wikipedia In 1995, Sissel was invited to perform on the 1995 Live For Peace - Royal Gala in London. In celebration of 50 years V.E. Day she performed in front of Charles, Prince of Wales, in London Coliseum. She sang the renowned aria O Mio Babbino Caro from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini and the Norwegian classic Vitae Lux with the choir Gli Scapoli.
The second song is Vitae Lux - made by a rock guitarist(Frode Alnæs) and a Tv-host (Ivar Dyrhaug). So it`s a quite new piece (2003) - first recorded by trumpet player Ole Edvard Antonsen with Kirsten Bråten Berg singing. I thinks she even sings better than Sissel on this one. ruclips.net/video/M0qta_XY-M8/видео.html
I believe she's a buitiful in song she's the same in person and it's a shameful we not married but she's always in Heart 💖 one day you never know we might meet all my love Brian
I am afraid NOT! I have been to a couple of her concerts sitting on row one. So close that you can hear voice directly together with the voice through the speakers. She is just that good. No need for lip syncing. :-)
This a breath taking performance by the multi talented Sissel
A week ago,I never even heard of this beautiful lady with the golden voice . Now I cant get enough of her .
You've lost so much...
This is world class. I love Sissel. Nobody sings better than she does.

So flawless and effortless. What a gift to us from the Almighty.
God has given the world and Angel 😇 with sublimes in her voice...!!! Thank You God for Sossel...!
Most pleasing an soothing voice
‘Vitae Lux.’ Omg. 💜💜💜
Clear beautiful smooth voice, and her accents cute!🥰
Very different songs! She is so amazing as to how many styles of music she can sing.
Why do we not hear more of Sissel on the radio. I've tried on Classic FM. Absolutely beautiful voice. Try "The Last Spring" by Grieg.
Her singing of Last Spring is superb.
Glorious, crystal clear voice and the words sung with such sincerity.
SAW THIS YEARS AGO HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT SINCE THANK YOU TUBE WONDERFUL JUST WONDERFUL

Великолепно.

I wonder if Sissel would want to perform with the group" Cherish the ladies " I think they would blend well.
