- The big headline is that the Ugarte deal is back on. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that United are pursuing a loan with an obligation to buy Ugarte, rather than buying him outright this season. It’s a good work-around financially. According to Laurie Whitwell, the likelihood of this deal happening will increase as the transfer window comes closer to its final day. It’s never been an easy deal to do.
After completing four signings so far this summer, United are now focused primarily on outgoings. Wan-Bissaka has just recently left, and now Pellistri and Scott Mctominay are the next two in talks to leave. Pellistri’s deal with Panathinaikos is now agreed, just pending a medical.
Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna is now in England to have face-to-face meetings with Mctominay. There is good progress being made. Reports suggesting that personal terms are already agreed are allegedly false. Fulham were originally interested in Mctominay, but failed to match United’s £25 million valuation. Instead, they’ve opted to sign Burnley’s Sander Berge for £20 million + £5m in addons.
Players on the fringe of the squad have chances to leave also, including Eriksen, Hannibal and Lindelof. United want £5 million for Eriksen, and Ajax are presenting an ‘emotional full circle’ for the midfielder. Ajax need to balance the books first, as they are struggling with their own financial issues. As things stand, there is little expectation of this move happening.

EDL… I mean Edale Skyline is awesome!!! Our group of 8 did it a couple of years ago. Loved it and were lucky with weather! In terms of navigation it’s quite an easy route because you have trig points galore around you the whole time. Enjoy it!

@StephenHowson you need strong quads for downhill - I got to the summit of one of my hikes and when I started down I thought i had torn a knee ligament. turns out, I had completely exhausted my quads and they gave no support for my knee ligaments. had I not had my hiking poles and go super slow, I probably would have torn a ligament. they just ended up being sore for a few days as a result.

I’m looking forward to the transfer window closing. The overall impression I get from the press is that United are working hard to get their transfer targets but it seems to be taking so much longer to actually sign/sell players. I guess this is because ManU are no longer the transfer push overs they were but I find it quite frustrating. Let’s get on with the season!

does working your tibialus help at all with your calves? I do a bit of that and when they get bad, i have a balance board thingy that I use to stretch my calves several times a day - my pt originally told me to do that a lot (the stretching) , like at least once an hour - when they were bad

I don't believe Ugarte was the only midfielder they wanted. I saw Amrabat and Ugarte coming in. McTominay out, Christian out. But if we keep Scott and Case then it's just Ugarte.
Makes no sense. All summer it was PSG need to sell for PSR reasons. People like yourself (and others, to be fair) were constantly going on about the PSG PSR being a good thing for United. But now it's not a problem as they don't need the money until next year seemingly.
Because people don't look into things themselves.
PSG did a madness when it comes to selling last year (Neymar 90m, Veratti 45m) and altogether made about 150m in pure profit which has covered the majority of their spending the last few years.
At the moment they're about 40m in the black just from transfer fees alone, and losing Messi/Neymar/Mbappe has helped them massively.
So they won't be desperate to sell right now, but they do want to keep buying so will need to get others out to compensate.
We're obviously interested in Ugarte, he's obviously interested in coming, and they're obviously not interested in keeping him.
It's just a case of who's going to 'blink' and take the other ones offer

On the calf and ankle problem...dont know if it will help but i had tight ankles for years after i stoped playing football and what really helped me was vivobarefoot any barefoot shoe should do it but there the ones i use they look goofy but for day to day or the gym they do wonders for feet ankles calfs

I think he was team of the year in a team that was relegated.
Ugarte has a very very poor technique. I feel he is a destroyer, but pure destroyers at United have always failed. The only reason Keane survived was because he had leadership and a unique drive... simple passing but good accurate passes. I feel Ugarte is the wrong one.

@@StephenHowson Yep... funny question that... Was privileged to have watched some of United's greats. Ugarte is no Keane, I assure you of that. I, for one, do not want Ugarte at United. I feel he is an overglorified Fred given his very poor ball control, he can destroy perfectly, but transitions aren't his strong suit... meaning he will need a solid passer next to him at all times. Wonder if that's what United need. Mainoo isn't a long passer, neither is Casemiro... Eriksen, perhaps?

Ugarte is a proper defensive midfielder, who is aggressive and covers space and protects the backline. Ugarte is a young version of Casemiro without good in set pieces
