  • Sensei Sasaki has visited Seattle area for a 2-day seminar last week of February.
He is known for his explosive and unconventional judo style. We went over applications of tomoe nage, ashi guruma and ouchi gari and many details around kumikata. Grip fighting was my personal favorite.
This is only a small portion of the seminar that I was able to film as I completely forgot that it was an option.
Sincere apologies for worse sound quality as I forgot my extra microphone.
    Chapters:
    00:04 - Traditional Tomoe Name
03:42 - Ashi Barai To Yoko Tomoe Name
    11:02 - Ashi Guruma
    13:13 - Ouchi Gari (Makikomi)
15:26 - Ouchi Gari To Front Uchi Mata
16:02 - Drop Ouchi Gari From Grip Break
23:03 - Double Sleeve Grip Break To An Attack
    26:00 - Grip Break Option I
30:19 - Grip Break Option II
31:44 - Grip Break Option III
34:22 - Grip Break Option III - Change of Direction

Isn't that 2nd technique Ko Uchi Gari to Yoko Tomoe Nage?

He called it ashi barai (side) sweep. I would say ko uchi is when you are trying to throw forward.

@@artemrevelsky With respect, I think he mispoke as De Ashi Harai does not attack the inside of the leg (nor does Ko Uchi Gari pull the uke forward.) ruclips.net/video/DCdtxDWQZew/видео.html

What is ' Tsuri komi ashi' ...Not harai or sasae ...This is asked in a Renraku waza form and don't know what it is. Can you explain? Thanks

I am only familiar with sasae tsurikomi ashi and harai tsurikomi ashi. This might be a better question for a kata expert which I am most definitely not. 🙂
