i just got mine today cant wait to practice on it and wash it!!! this video was really helpful i also have a question for anyone who has experience with these mannequins how many times do you wash their hair?
Thanks for this! I'm a home user (not a pro or student) and just bought a Debra to practice with hot tools. At the very end, you mentioned washing between projects. Do you still recommend washing every time, even if I'm repeating the same styling process with the same products? I will mostly be repeating the same couple of techniques with a flat iron or curling wand. If not, should I reapply heat protectant, or does that persist on the hair? Thanks for your help! I'm really looking forward to practicing.
You do not necessarily need to wash between each project. If you only use a small amount of styling product I'd skip the wash. I would reapply heat protectant each time you heat style. Thanks for your comment!!!
I would like to learn more about working on mannequin's. I am interested in doing hair but want to learn a lot before deciding to enroll. What about remembering all the material in the textbooks? I am in my late 30's
It is not recommended to air dry mannequin heads, so you should definitely blow dry. Alternatively if you have access to a hood hair dryer it would work very well too.
I just bought the manequin head and the ads tell that its pure human hair and it turns out that it’s pure synthetic hair. How can I manage and detangled the hair? Can I just use shampoo and conditioner and dry it with just towel without blow drying. Thanks and more power. God bless
We recommend shampoo that is designed for "dry hair". There are many brands that are not too expensive, we can suggest Herbal Essences Bio:renew Coconut Milk Hydrate or Garnier Legendary Olive Replenishing Shampoo. Be sure to use both the shampoo and conditioner. It also helps to use a thermal protectant, one that is not too expensive is Pantene Pro V Heat Primer. Hold this helps!!!
@@GiellBeauty Hi, I've got a herbal essences but it says it has sulfate in it and another video said you shouldn't use a shampoo that has sulfate in it so I'm confused
@@vikkischannel8718 Sulfate is a cleaning / foaming agent which traps and removes oil & dirt from the hair. The negative side-effect is it will dry, possibly over-dry the hair. This is why you need to counteract with a conditioner, which is especially important with mannequins. Sulfate-free shampoos are more expensive and may give you a better result, but we do not think it is ultimately necessary when it comes to mannequins.
@@GiellBeauty hi again do I need to put the conditioner or is it ok if I just put shampoo? Also another question how often can I wash my mannequins hair? If I wash it too much times can it damage the hair?
@@vikkischannel8718 We recommend using a conditioner after shampoo, it is very important. We recommend washing the mannequin when you first receive it. After that, wash as few times as possible, only to remove styling products if/when you desire to re-style your mannequin.
Yes thank you for your question! The process will be the same with synthetic hair however you should only use cold water and cold air on your blow dryer.
@@GiellBeauty thank you so much ❤️❤️. I am worried to apply any hair products on my mannequin because i don't know how to wash it😅. But i know now thank you for the information and help ❤️❤️
The least damaging brush would be something like a "styling" brush, with widely spaced bristles. However this may not be the ideal brush to use when blow drying and / or straightening the hair. Round brushes will have a stronger pull. To minimize shedding go with a larger round brush, say 2 1/2" to 3" diameter, and make sure the hair is properly conditioned and de-tangled prior to blow drying. Hope this helps!!!
If the hair has already tangled you will need to arm yourself with patience and go through it slowly. Using a spray de-tangler will help a lot. The key is small, gentle strokes to avoid damaging your mannequin's hair.
Everyone watching the video: wow she's so good at hair!! me: I WANNA RAISE YOUR SPIRITTTT I WANT TO SEE YOU SMILE BUT THIS JUST DONT FEEL RIGHT TO MEEEEE 😂
It's hard to answer without knowing the specific brand of your mannequin. If the hair is human hair, or synthetic hair made of protein fibers then it can be washed. If it is however made with a synthetic polymer, such as the hair on a doll, then it may not react well to being washed. I would recommend you double check with the company you purchased from.
Air drying is not recommended as there is a chance the hair would not dry thoroughly and mold may develop. It is especially important to completely dry the mannequin's hair prior to storing it in a bag or enclosed container.
Can you send a link where i can buy this head at good price please? There so many manipulating doll heads where they syate in the title 100% real human hair but at the end its 100% synthetic hair.

I would like to learn more about working on mannequin's. I am interested in doing hair but want to learn a lot before deciding to enroll. What about remembering all the material in the textbooks? I am in my late 30's
What hair products do you recommend for a mannequin head?
You can use any brand of hair products. Try choosing a shampoo & conditioner recommended for "dry hair". Finish with a leave-in conditioner.
I have a mannequin with curly, 3c hair - the Alicia. Do i need to blow dry the hair or can it air dry?
It is not recommended to air dry mannequin heads, so you should definitely blow dry. Alternatively if you have access to a hood hair dryer it would work very well too.

Giell that’s very helpful bc mine is synthetic hair too
@Cloudykook Yes you can use shampoo & conditioner. Use slightly less shampoo as to not dry the hair too much!
@Cloudykook If you work with human hair then any shampoo will do. For synthetic hair, wig shampoo is the best but any mild shampoo would work too.
What is the best kind of shampoo to use on a mannequin that’s not so expensive?

Sure thanks 👍🏼
Can I shampoo the mannequin and dry it with towel only without the blow drying. Thanks for the reply.
No, the mannequin's hair will not air dry by itself, so it is recommended to dry the hair completely using a dryer (prior to storing your mannequin).
You confirmed that I've been doing it right. Thanks
So yi huv 😅😅 I smellllll 💩
this method really works :)
Can you use protene shampoo and conditioner ?
Feel free to use any brand of shampoo and conditioner you like. We recommend using a shampoo designed for "dry hair".
when you are using heat on the hair do you need a heat protection or is it optional?
I have one I don’t but you can my dolls hair is thick that’s why I do it
Optional but recommend
What size Olivia garden brush are you using?
In this video Sam is using the Olivia Garden Ceramic+Ion CI-65, 3 1/2".
Giell thank you!
How can I get this one
I got one just yesterday!!!!
What brush is the best to be using on your mannequin? Because when I used a basic one a lot of hair fell out.

Does the care change if its synthetic or real hair ?
Yes

hi i have a ammus hair mannequin but it says don’t wash the the roots of the hair but you can do the bottoms. is that true?
Hello. I am not familiar with the "ammus" mannequin so I would recommend following their recommendations.
Where is the wig stand from?
This is a Giell stand, you can find it on our website : www.giell.com/standard-tripod-holder-for-cosmetology-mannequin-heads.html
You can get one from amazon for less money it’s like 20 dollars
I have one and the bottom of the hair is so tangled and I don’t know what to do

Is this synthetic or 100% human hair?
It is 100% Human Hair!
What will happen if you air dry the hair? Will it dry and go back to its natural state or will it be stringy?
Air drying is not recommended as there is a chance the hair would not dry thoroughly and mold may develop. It is especially important to completely dry the mannequin's hair prior to storing it in a bag or enclosed container.

it has slpit ends
