Extremely honest take from the coach. From a guy in this position, Korean, you'd expect someone colder, who would hide his true feelings. With this attitude, I believe GenG is completely capable of being back on track again.
The head coach is someone else, the calculation mind, you prob know him. Coach Kim who used to coach IG 2018, DWG 2019, T1 2019-20, BLG 2020-21, and DRX 2021-22 who got fired after 3 months on the job lol
Its the worlds theme isnt? Make them believe. Well if there is a chance for T1 to prove that they can defend their title against the best, this is their test actually, defeating their Kryptonite. It willbe a banger series
worlds theme applies to all remaining teams tho. T1 overcoming their kryptonite GenG, GenG/Chovy getting past their choke to finally win worlds, WBG(weakest team currently in semis) revenge for last year or underdog story, BLG/LPL winning back international again, knight beating international choke allegation or beating T1 aka LPL kryptonite in the final.
We need to raise the discussion about teams being punished for going 3-0 by the 2 weeks downtime between quarters and Swiss. Glad you've asked that question. It repeats for yet another year (LNG 0-3'd by T1 and JDG looking shaky vs KT last Worlds quarter, both after making it 3-0 in Swiss).
It's the main issue with the swiss format. It's a trade of being more exciting game by game (no pointless games like there can often be with group format) and it allows teams a cushion to grow into the tournament, but a team that starts strong is not done any favors by the format. I like the suggestion of postponing 2-0 matches for later so that there is less down time, but I think it still doesn't improve the fact that teams which dominate early play fewer games, so less time to play in the meta and keep sharpness up.
Are people really sincere about teams being punished for two weeks' downtime? T1 was DDoS'ed like crazy all year and other than supporters and when Faker was brave enough to point this out, everyone else was "excuses, excuses". But now, we want to talk about downtime.
Dont let the GenG vs Fly match makes you think that T1 has the advantage, i hope T1 wins but is going to be hard. T1 is the underdog in that series. GenG since 2022 dreams thinking about how to counter T1
Remember though, everyone besides Faker was a Rookie back then. Zeus is only 19 and they are still growing and getting better despite already going to back-to-back Worlds and winning one. If they can beat Golden Road JDG they can also be a huge threat to Silver Road GenG.
I have never been more proud to western team ever, being able stole 2 point from the Freaking GenG. I want GenG's best performance though, somehow I don't feel it in their last series
Disappointed there were no questions about FLY's drafting or level of play in general. An NA team pushing top LCK teams to the limit happens few times in league's HISTORY. Feels pretty obvious they'd be stressed getting pushed to game 5, etc., would have rather heard Helper's thoughts on the West's approach on being worlds level. - Were they startled by FLY's unique picks/did it cause them to have in-game hiccups? - Is this a strat that is repeatable for challenging the world's best teams? - Does he feel the gap is closing/do they need to prep for Western teams now more than a few years ago? - Did FLY play up or did GEN play down? or both? Missed opportunity
lol no. NA has no chance against LPL or LCk. They practice 16 hours a day. You think Kobe Bryant got to where he was by doing the same schedule as anyone else?
I don’t know why people hating on GenG just because they pick “scaling” champions. Like bro they win in this strategy so why hate. If you win, you win. Like Flyquest on non-meta champions. Props to them. So many toxic viewers
@EvilInLockhartso what? You could also say FLY cheesed drafts and they’re pretty mediocre on standard. Each team simply played to their strengths, and the better team won. that is also a fact. Even Inspired admitted GenG figured them out and adapted really well.
I agree. It's not like FLY didn't heavily index into scaling either. The two games they won were based around picking a better scaling comp and baiting GenG into overforcing plays to get advantages. When GenG figured out what they were trying to do, GenG just gave them a dose of their own medicine and picked even stronger scaling.
sure they won but how you attain that win is still important, its not meaningless. Id rather have my team (T1) play fun and passionately aswell as entertainingly and loose then resorting to such a pssy move to play safe broken scalers to win a game. Its boring and i dont agree with that style of play at all, tho it is fair since the champ wasnt banned and is avaliable in lol. Just not anything respectable and shows that they didnt have the skill to win properly imo.
i think there’s a bit of discredit for flyquest in this interview. geng blaming their players had an off-game that’s why they performed bad. but also flyquest did really well! give credit where it’s due
ultimately, fly still put up a ridiculous performance and I hope tl sees what they accomplished and don't get discouraged so fly has competition next year
3-0 T1 wins. I don’t see T1 losing against GenG now. Their coach just saying that so that his players will still be confident against T1. but realistically it won’t happen. 3-0 T1 wins
Gen G struggle against Fly bcs they studied T1. If they bested T1 they will bested every other team. Gen G is T1 kryptonite. They alr used to play against T1.

LNG was 3-1 in swiss last year, GEN.G was 3-0, but your point still stands as GEN.G looked very shaky in quarters last year aswell.
Yes...

GenG > T1
as representative of geng fans, I will lay out reasons as to why geng lost:
- meta is shifting into faster games, chovy didnt have enough time to farm 12 items
- the lights on stage was in kiin’s eyes
- aircon was freezing peyz’s hands
- audience spoke too much english and french
- t1 paid lehends 50000 won
- faker got carried
- guma got full 8 hour sleep for 1 week straight
- keria cheesed picks
- t1 jungler was actually bengi wearing oner’s skin
- flyquest was t1’s agent scouting all of geng’s strats
