About 60% of the dutch don’t get this stuff……but the 40% that do are pissing pants. This is totally not something you will fully get….unless you are living in NL for at least 20 years! No joke! It has so many layers of humor that only dutch can get.
I can't imagine this being funny for a non native Dutch person. They talk stereotypical Dutch student language, very specific rich boys accent (kak). One of their first question is always "did you f***" (which Google does not translate to English as far as I can see it). THere is one episode where they insult the pizza delivery guy and then they throw him out the window as a " joke"
This was a series in a sorority house, with 3 students. In this one, van Binsbergen, is being quizzed by his roommates about Ajax, in order to win a scarf & come along to a soccer match.
Yes, and throughout these episodes, which are limited by the way, van Binsbergen -one of the three- always ends up on the bottom. The time this was televised, I actually went to go study. Cool thing is, lots of people watched linear tv and actually saw the same stuff. The day after you'd know anyone intelligent and with enough sense of humor never missed out on any of these episodes. So just coining a phrase from that episode made your surroundings laugh in tears. People should watch 'Stiften' as well. In this episode a guy named Edgar is being targeted. They work at dull office and their manager always brags about his time when he was a 'commando' soldier (special forces) at the army. At one point they start explaining the card game 'stiften' to Edgar. The way this unravels is reckognisable to anyone who's experienced some (card)game explanation going way over your head.
@@SirG145, not to mention the influence Jiskefet had on vocabulary, with people using sentences as "Goeiesmorgens" and "Hey, lullo, hebbie nog geneukt?" in daily life.
Jiskefet was helarious. These guys are posh students and live together in a house/room. There is not much studying. They drink, sniff and of course the girls. You have to see it more often to understand. Really great humor in a time when everything was still allowed. 😂

Jiskefet ruled! Especially the Lullo's hahaha loved it back in the days. And of course 'KINDERPINDAKAAS'....PETER. PETERRRRRR.... and debiteuren, crediteuren. Well, loved all of it. They were briliant!
Jiskefet is the Dutch Monty Python, quite absurd humor that is very difficult to understand without a lot of specific (local) background knowledge.. It would take 1000 words to even start trying to explain it, so I won't try. I will only say that they were very good, second only to van Kooten en de Bie, the Grandmasters of Dutch Comedy.
As a fluent English but native Dutch speaker I just don't know even where to begin to explain this to you dear Alices tumbled down this Dutch rabbit hole. Even to the Dutch the jokes are mostly dated, relating to football (soccer) players of the mid 1990's. For me this is comedy gold because it is relatable, having been a Dutch student at the time, and this series of sketches, the "Lullo" series, captures some elements of the worst side of that life style brilliantly. It is a little bit like insider humor for ex-Eaton (UK) people or ex-Harvard or ex-Stanford folk. I think if you made a comedy series about life at Stanford, not many Americans would, or could, relate to it. It is similar for this series to Dutch people. The joke about George Finidi at 4:10 is untranslatable, you would need 500 words to explain this (pretty poor) joke. I will just say that his last name sounds a little bit like "how do you find it" in Dutch.... Oh, and it is pronounced "Ah Yax", not "A Jax".
Jiskefet is actually a Frisian word, it means trash bin. Main actors were Kees Prins, Michiel Romeijn en Herman Koch. Koch (the blond guy from this clip) is a well known author as well (“The Dinner”, amongst others)
