Yes. Kind of. Both are definitely seperate entities. Miss USA emphasizes looks/personality over scholarly achievement. It used to be owned by a swimsuit company I believe so it tends to be more of an advertising tool for makeup/swimwear/etc. It hypes up the swimsuit portion more. Its contestants tend to be more of the model type that happen to help with charities. Miss America tends to favor more of a balance between scholarly achievement vs. looks/personality. It is more of a "charitable" organization vs an advertising tool. It requires a talent portion if I remember correctly. It also downplays the swimsuit portion compared to Miss USA. Miss America contestants tend to be beautiful professionals such as lawyers/doctors etc Of course the line can get blurred and there are exceptions. These are just basic historical differences.

That's why you see Mr. Trump at the pageants and you see his queens on shows like the Celebrity Apprentice. Miss America is more about the scholarship. Also, if you win Miss USA, you go on to Miss Universe. The highest level you can get at Miss America is Miss America. It basically goes like this for Miss America: Miss Local Title (so something like Miss SoAndSo County or Miss SoAndSo College), Miss State (or territory, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Washington DC all have a title.) and then Miss America. Miss USA is way better. They get to compete internationally at the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.
Also, Miss America gets scholarship money as a prize, Miss USA/Universe gets diamonds and cash and other physical things as a prize.
Miss America's contestants are ugly and Miss USA's candidates are average the most, and four or five really beautiful.

It was a little all over the place, but she did capture the emotion of the song. I also liked the power she displayed along with a really nice tone.
