  • I grew up in this business. My father was in the service station business, and, started in downtown Reno. That was in nineteen forty seven, and it's just evolved. I've owned the company since nineteen ninety two.
    And Roy Foster was my father's name. So Roy Foster's Automotive in honor of my father. It's truly his company and we care about his legacy.
    The third generation, my sons are working in the business. It's pretty gratifying, working with them seen how capable and how confident that they are and how much they care about our customers and and their grandfather's name and his legacy. I started when I was really young, like, thirteen, fourteen by just washing windows and stuff like that, but even before then, I've always spent a little bit of time down here just watching my dad work and, you know, growing up with a lot of the guys that have worked here and my older brother worked here a long time too, but, I, I just love it. I feel like all of us take a lot of pride in our work.
    We're always trying to make it look like no one's been there before, and we put everything back the way it was, and We always just try to do the job right the first time. We put forward the customer always one hundred percent no matter what we do. And just that simple fact that we can go out of our way to help the customer and the customer's number one and not the business just speaks volumes about how Roy runs this place. Our honesty, you know, the fact that we are honest, a lot of people have had bad bad experiences at other shops.
    So I tell em, come in here. You can see what it's all about and and help you understand a little bit more. People have that anxiety when they come in here. Everybody does.
    I mean, it's just like going to the doctor too. You wonder what's wrong with you, how long is this gonna take? What's it gonna cost? And trying to be as upfront and honest throughout it all is the world difference.
    People are flabbergasted all the time because they're like, hey, I've taken my car to other shops, and I've gone four or five days without anybody telling me anything. It makes the world of difference, and we hear from it every day about how it's incredible, how well we can maintain communication. It's clean. It's much cleaner than a lot of other shops they've been at because we pride ourselves on keeping things clean and presentable for customers.
    And the inspection They love the inspections. The photos, the digital inspection where they have a copy of it, and they can see what we're looking at. It really drives a an air of trust with customers. Technicians all have a tablet.
    They're gonna take pictures of the outside of your car before we even begin. They'll bring it into the shop. They'll check under the hood. And when I say check, we're we're testing all of the fluids.
    We're testing the battery. We're checking the air filter. We're checking the cabin air filter.
    We do the undercar. We check the tread depth on the tires. We check your brakes. We check all the fluids underneath.
    And then we compile all that into a digital vehicle inspection report which is texted to the customer. They just simply click on a link. It opens the link up and they can run through the inspection and see everything that the technicians seen. It's virtually like walking around the entire vehicle with our technician and him pointing out every little detail that he sees with your vehicle.
    We want to make sure that cars are safe and you're aware of maintenance items that are due and maintenance items that are coming up. So the whole idea is is you are aware of everything going on inside of your car. That somebody's car, that may be somebody's only car. They understand it needs to be as safe, reliable, and well maintained as possible.
    I'd rather always lose a couple tenths of an hour, then, you know, ruin the reputation my grandpa started and my dad's been building. I think that's why our customers appreciate us and always come back to us is we're always honest and just trying to just trying to do it right. Without the team, we're nothing.
    So without my team, we wouldn't be the Napa Auto Care Shop of the Year. Without my team, we wouldn't be the AAA shop of the year.
