Very interesting to learn something more about Employment Relations in South Africa every week. I find the links very useful too. Could you perhaps tell us what CCMA stands for or who they are, here in the Comments - for ease of understanding by non-South Africans or South Africans who don't deal with them often?
Wonderful question! Thank you. CCMA stands for Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration. The CCMA was established as an alternative to the Industrial Court to handle labour disputes in an expedited manner and to be more accessible (it is free). They do most of (the Labour Court still has jurisdiction over some cases) the labour disputes in South Africa, as well as mediating negotiations between employers and unions. We also have some Bargaining Councils that perform the same function as the CCMA but for specific industries.
If you as employee is not present at the arbitration, they will not proceed without you. Matter will be removed from.the roll and you apply for re-enrollment.
This is not accurate according to the CCMA rules - if an employee fails to attend the Commissioner will decide to postpone, or continue or dismiss the case. A case can proceed without the referring party present.
If the only error is mixing up the words "applicant" and "respondent" then I am sure it will still be considered valid as this is a common error. But the Commission will decide.

Thank you for your comment. I will start working on a video about arbitration.
Do you have to drop the recission form at CCMA in person or is there another method?
You can send it via email.
@@carmenfourie5346 thank you, do you perhaps have the email address to send the recission form

If the employer issued the application incorrectly say swapping the applicate and respondent on a reseccion application is it still valid
