    • @EbikeSchool

      It's a good idea to charge your battery up and discharge it at least once or twice to test it. You should monitor that first charge and discharge to ensure everything is working.

    why 4 strips instead of 1 wider thicker strip? everything looks Nat and clean except for that. Personal preference, but I'd shift the row in the background over one to the right to make a more square pack and have the connections go to one end and then return back so that your +&- are right next to each other making for shorter leads.

    Nooooo this music makes me sad! I would have bought pre spotwelded parallel batteries but my country won't import them, so I bought a spotwelder and bought local cells, plus it's fun to spotweld👌🏼 btw I have not found any, any other channel more useful than yours, thanks to you I'm able to completely build safe, efficient powerful batteries. Thanks heaps mate, top lad👌🏼

    you could sell the kit your self
    pre weld a bunch of 1s3p bundles and then sell them on ebay and as you rake in the money then build more kits and built the operation bigger from that.
    you could also set the kickstarter project to be longer than what ever the default is or even take the money and start another kickstarter or even use multiple kickstarter like sites at the same time kickstarter, gofundme and patreon all at the same time and rake in the money and combine the money

    I just found your channel. Thank you for posting such great content.
    Feedback for the Kickstarter... I liked the idea but, for me, the cost savings weren't enough to justify the time required to build. batteries myself. However, as pack sizes increase and build techniques simplify with upcoming 2670 cells, you may find a large market.
    The page was very well done and it gave me good confidence in your knowledge. The Msker Batteries logo could use a professional touch though. It still looks too generic to instill confidence in the brand. Everything else gave me good confidence in your brand.
    I felt like I got lost in too much information on the page and lost sight of why I might want a kit. If you were to focus on your main value proposition and keep it highlighted (only) vs. technical details, I think it would have been less likely to get drowned out by the mass of info. I.E. trust the market will trust you and only focus on helping people image what they could do with your product that they could not otherwise do.
    I'm subscribed. I feel confident that you will figure out a way to connect with a market. You are definitely on the leading edge of an upcoming trend so good luck and thanks again for your contributions.

    Question or suggestion: With your Vruzend individual solderless battery connectors, do you make a connector that forms a triangle? If not, one that can take three batteries glued together and instead of the plastic going around just one battery, have one that goes around just the outside of the three batteries glued together so you can make smaller compact batteries. Love your videos and thanks for all the content you provide. Peace, Maurice

    Great video! My kid has a 36v 500w mini dirt bike, I just took the battery apart to see if i could upgrade it and found lots of spare battery slots. Would you be able to help me with the configuration if i sent you some pictures? It has a 3 x 12v 8ah lithium 18650 pack batteries (40 in total). I would ideally like to add an extra 12v and maybe a few extra collective AHs. I have 18 extra used 18650 to add, various voltages from 2.2v to 4.1v. Thanks

    Another great video, shame the kickstarter didn't work out. Can I ask, would there be any benefit to making a 52v pack 15s cells and only charging to 4.0v per cell. Thanks

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  7 лет назад +2

      The advantage would be that the pack would have a longer life, meaning more cycles. The disadvantage would be less capacity in each cycle. Charging to 4.0V on li-ion equates to about 75-80% capacity, from what I've seen.

    How many amps are in 1 battery?
    I’m assuming 3.5 amps per battery and connect 3 batteries in parallel to get 10.5 amps.
    You got 14 sets of them times 3.7 volts in series to get appx. 52 volts
    Hence,
    “52 volt 10.5 amp Lithium Ion Battery”
    Correct me if I’m wrong?

    It was a good video. It's annoying the project didn't fund. The ebike universe is not very big in the US, and the manufacturers don't really want their factory bikes to be open systems. So you are stuck with builders and potential builders. There were some comments on your system that showed a lot of animosity to just building basic batteries.
    The RC enthusiasts have a much more open system and they seem much more willing to buy basic systems. But they don't tend to build large packs. I'm not sure if the RC people were aware of Maker. I am going to try to build an ebike pack from a 6s pack, 2p 2s, and just use RC charging. (Four packs, paralleling two sets of two packs in series.) It's a Titan pack marketed for the RC market as a LiPo replacement. Nothing is really locked down in the RC market, not much proprietary stuff.
    Maybe you could make a version of the MB wrapped and with connectors (which is what Titan does) but skew it for ebike voltages and AH rating. Just plug some XT 60's into a connector cradle, and have a connector for a BMS. Or just balance charge with the standard RC chargers. There are some packs that are useful for RC and ebike builders, I suppose. I've used Lipos. Battery Bloc is an interesting mechanical system.
    I think the smart thing you did was to build blocks of parallel cells, with the tin in place. If you haven't thought about the whole pack building thing, all the issues and pitfalls, it doesn't seem that significant. But you have some structure and you have a pattern to follow, and you minimize the damage from the soldering, it's pretty significant. It was a solid, compact pack.
    Interesting opportunities in the RV market for lithium. i don't know when it will move away from LFMP, which seem more heat resistant and are considered less explosive. You can probably find a good market somewhere.
    Thanks

      Think of each strip as a lane in a highway. More lanes means more room for cars to flow, so less traffic. Now replace lanes with strips and cars with electrons.

    Hello Micah, thank you very much for the knowledge you share. I have just finised reading the DIY Lithium Batteries and its asome. I have to questions, 1: Charging and discharging at the same time afect the battery life? 2: Its better to buit the batteries when each cell its near to the nominal voltage instead of hi or low voltage? i suppose that because its safer in that voltage. PD: In the page 120 of the book i think the diagram its wrong, there are a few "+" and "-" inverted. Saludos!! Att: Daniel Palacios

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  7 лет назад +1

      1. Theoretically you can charge and discharge at the same time, but discharging current is usually much higher rated than charging. 2. The bigger issue is spending long periods of time near the top end of the voltage range, as it can degrade the cells over time. You're absolutely right about page 120, I see the mistake now. Thank you for pointing that out, I'll update it!

    • @freedabicicletaselectricas1685

    I'm thinking of making a 72 v battery with Samsung INR18650 25R 2500mAh batteries.
    If I put 3 in parallel, would that mean that they would be 7500 mAh ?
    and if I had 20 batteries in series at 3.7v each to get 74volts, would that be Ok to use on a motor that handles up to 72volts ? or would it be better to use 19 batteries and have 70.3 volts ?
    So, the plan is to either have 57 or 60 batteries with 19 or 20 cells and each cell consisting of 3 batteries for a 7500mAh rating.
    Would this work ? and how would I know how many amps would come out of it ?

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  6 лет назад

      Your math is correct and 20s is fine for a 72V motor, it's actually standard. The answer to "how many amps would come out of it?" is "as many as you pull". Your load decides the amps. 25R cells are rated for 20A though, so the max you should try to pull is 60A if you have three cells in parallel, though staying below 50A would be healthier for the batteries by not pushing them to their limits.

    Too much liability. We don't know who is making the 18650 cells. They're not safe. We all need to move away from 18650 cells. The quality varies tremendously and you won't know unless there is a fire. Price competition is lowering the quality of the higher quality cells.
