Really love to hear the top managers' insights and how they approach the game themselves. Class from Oscar that he can pull them in for interviews as well 👏
Brilliant video and as an amateur player who discovered FPL 3 years ago and started paying some real attention to it midway through 20/21 season this was really helpful!
I love these one-off, more general FPL videos, Oscar. Really interesting stuff. BTW, you mention that your videos take a long time to edit. As a designer, myself, if I can offer a small piece of advice, in that regard (since your content always gives me such good advice)? Learn your keyboard shortcuts. Not all of them (there's hundreds) but when you're editing, you'll doubtless find yourself doing 5-6 different things over and over again, so start there. Hovering over the button usually tells you what the keyboard shortcut is, but if not it's worth googling, then writing on a post-it and sticking a few at a time under your monitor until you commit them to muscle-memory. Just remember that 99% of your time in editing is spent moving your mouse around the screen to click buttons, so as much of that movement as you can cut out as possible, the faster you'll get. Even something as simple as keeping your hand over the ctrl/alt/shift/space keys and learning basic navigation/zoom/copy shortcuts can cut dozens of hours a week in production time. Oh and if that's something you're already doing then your next step to reduce production time is "actions" which can automate dozens of different menu/button clicks into one simple button. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Tom :) good tip. I use a few but there’s definitely more to learn. It really is all the mouse movements that take most of the time, my head goes 100 mph with ideas while editing but limited to how fast I move the mouse haha. I did buy a really high dpi mouse, sensitivity is absurdly high which allows me to work faster 😅
@@FPLFocal Yeah, a good mouse is vital. I've been using a Logitech MX Revolution for 20 odd years (on my third) and they're great because of the extra scroll wheel, a couple of extra thumb buttons to program shortcuts into, a switch which turns the click wheel into a free wheel, so it aids with scrolling/zooming etc and I think most importantly they have big thumb rests, so when you're using something like that for long periods, it's always comfortable. Expensive but for something you constantly use, it's worth paying the extra for. A second monitor, too. Absolutely vital if you're looking to increase your productivity in graphics/editing. Definitely check out expanding your repertoire of shortcuts as a base, and look at making your own "actions" for any repetitive tasks are things I always recommend to anyone in the industry for a few years, looking to boost productivity. Anyway, I'm always around if you have any questions about that stuff.
This is exactly how I play so great to see it working so well consistently over years. Fixtures, 4-6 weeks hold, no hits unless absolutely obvious, xg and xg-adjacent data. Cheers to Corbs, looks like I've followed him on Twitter for a while! Great video as always Focal.
Great value in this video, thank you. What happened with Almiron is called 'regression to the mean' in statistics. A term every brilliant FPL youtuber should get familiar with 🙂
Having had 9 red arrows in the past 10 gameweeks, the student is ready to listen! Among all the gems in this video, the idea that team value isn't that important to a highly ranked manager is perhaps the most valuable to me.
Yeah that was a great nugget, plus never moving early on transfers unless absolutely required - there's always an alternative, and it sometimes does better even.
Great video and editing Oscar, appreciate all the time you put into this one and all your videos! It’s always good to hear the advice from a top FPL manager like Matt, and I like the idea that team value isn’t that important to him as I’ve been guilty of chasing prices only to get burned. I’m trying to be more patient with my transfers but it sure is hard at times 😅 awesome interview!
Thanks 🙂 yeah exactly. These one take much longer to edit (about 10 hours on this one) but it's one people can come back to so I'll happily put in the time for viewers 😄
Brilliant video & editing Oscar! Phenomenal work mate 👊 Will be interesting to revisit this in a few seasons to see how much of this advice we've actually listened to 😆
It would be nice to see a video on Magnus Carlsen, World Number 1 Chess Grandmaster who may likely also have a solid consistent overall rank from past years.
See lots of similarities with him and Borges tbf. There's definitely an algorithm to stick to to allow a consistent high rank, as well as just having good judgement about players.
brilliant video - very clear and concise and clear advice. His advice on the stats not actual goals is a something I know I should do but I keep ignoring - he makes me wonder why I and so many other people are crazy about Bukaya Saka - his underlying stats are not as good as the underlying stats for Odegard or Martinelli. His stats say that he has overperformed for quite some time. He's convinced me to put off a Bukaya move . . and to pick someone other than Almiron :0
Thanks Carl. Saka's stats are pretty much on par with Odegaard's since the restart and over the season in terms of xGI. Saka's on penalty which is one thing in his favourite. Both are great value at their price imo
Surely a decent amount of the 11 million are people who make a team for one week to try and be the highest scorer that week. Weirdly they always seem to be from certain parts of the world, rarely anyone from UK or US as the top scorer each gameweek.
Big thanks to Matt for taking the time to do the video 🤝
These ones take a long time to edit, so please like and subscribe if you enjoyed it! 👊

Nothing is more attractive than consistency. And the know how is priceless. Much appreciated Oscar for your herculean editing and platform.👑
Thanks so much 😄

I will never ever forget my reaction when i saw my triple captain Salah with 87 points against newcastle, 4 goals, 1 assist.... good ol'days !
Brilliant stuff !

Great video Oscar
Thanks Jack 👊
Love this kind of content, Oscar! Bringing me back to first time I hooked up with your channel because of the Fabio Borges video. 🙌
Thank you :)
I would like to ask about from where i could get data and statistics of teams and players?
Does he have a yt channel or twitter?
twitter.com/FPLCorbs
TC Rashford? For game week 22?
Nice
The introduction of this xg stats is killing FPL
yeah, just consider the xG and bring on Nunez =))
How to xG is a problem for me
Where can I get these stats

No way is there actually a leaderboard for FPL managers😂
Find me any game in the world with 10m players that doesn't ;)
😁👍💪👊🍻
😁👍💪👊🍻
I don't believe in XGA. It doesn't work on some players like Darwin Nunez
