today I went to my local super smash bros ultimate tournament and played ganondorf.
ganondorf is usually seen at the bottom of the tournament tier lists for smash bros ultimate because he really sucks in smash bros tournaments lol.

I like how Ganondorf is completely different in the competitive and casual viewpoint. In competitive, he's probably the worst character, but in casual, he's a complete monster.
Thats why they never buffed him. He would be far to busted for casual players.

He still kinda mid in casuals tho XD, like it’s harder for him to get items due to his slow speed and bad disadvantage state, while his moves can’t combo well with half the items in the game

This tournament run was more useful than any Ganon tutorial I’ve seen
I feel like Ganon being bottom three doesn’t carry the same weight as in other games. He’s still very much able to do well in tournaments, even able to get decent results in big tournaments.
I feel like they really balanced the game well for once. Even Little Mac can do well despite his horrendous recovery, unlike in sm4sh

Ultimate's worst characters are above and away better than any other game's worst character's, definitely including Ganon himself in Brawl. I think a great indicator is looking at the crazy difference in matchup spreads between the worst characters of every game. Ganon and the top three worst in this game can.. do something, which isn't as easy to say with the other Smash games.
It's super dope to watch these and hear you say your thought process, and then hear the commentator basically repeat you. It's kind of beautiful in a way

Poppt1's Gannondorf is really good, to push it to the next level, he should really try to incorporate the side-B it's a huge part of the Gannon Kit

@@dent5672 I used to main Ganon ik. It’s hard to time though and leaves you in such ridiculous lag that a miss is always a punish. It’s only ever used by two kinds of players. It’s either the bad players who don’t know better, or the crazy good ones who can time it/know when to go for it (very rarely). If you wanna 2 frame just reverse downsmash. Way better

I mean, you can become a master with Luigi and still be bamboozled by a rare matchup. It's really about the ability to adapt and come up with entirely new strategies mid-tournament, which is waaaay more difficult than Jordan makes it look. I think that's really one of his strengths.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's basically impossible to the the 0 to death on Ganon for some reason
Probably just a perfect combination of weight, fall speed and size. Similar to how the Byleth 0 to death only works on DK
You can't do the 0 to death on super heavyweights from 0%. It works but they have to be at like 20%

I think your adaptation is the main reason you did so well against Jarr. Lots of people just get frustrated and focus on their offense rather than changing their plans to win neutral. You playing so many games against Jarr let you get in his head lol. That's what makes you the world's second best ganon ;)

It was probably mental stamina. Ganon is scary, especially when the things that were working against him suddenly stop working and Ganon is supposed to be a bad character. Also he's probably not used to tournament level ganon and you had momentum to get a reverse 3-0 round, then 3stocked two more games. That would make anyone switch to a different character. Great job figuring out how to bully people with Ganon, I think that's what makes the character so hype; finally figuring out how to get in and wreck others after getting punted around at the start.
That was the most HYPE matches against Jarr ive ever seen o.o That was absolutely nuts!

Seeing the Ganondorf plays reminds me that Smash Bros can be a patience game. I need to get back into that mindset.
I just like how in Brawl and Smash 4, Ganondorf and Jigglypuff just switched places for bottom 3 while Zelda stayed in the middle of those 2.
You know it's smash bros when some random villager armed with a slingshot, some firecrackers and a watering can along with some other random shit he found in his shed is higher on the tier list than a dark magic wielding tyrant who possesses the triforce of power and has spread terror and fear across hyrule.

Respect for not using the "I WON a tournament with ganon" title so we still had the tension. Great matches!
The thing about Ganon is so many of his moves kill at low percentage. It's nice to be able to take stocks where, with other characters, I would need more setup or higher percentage.
Bro pooppit I love you going into these torments with such bad characters and actually getting results I am a heavy main and when I see this it makes me smiles to know that maybe I do have a chance in torments with heavys thanks for the grate content every day except Monday
