This was a cool battle! Misty would say something just like in her gym about really aggressive battling with water types. Misty would say something about the player being strong and it reminds her of a close friend (Ash/Red) who is also really strong.
I hate to say it but this is rather nonsensical. it's only been a few years since B2/W2. She'd only still be maybe 14/15 at best in S/M, not an adult. Only 9 or 10 years have passed since Gen 1, you know. Not only are Red and Green very obviously only around 20 (and they were 11 when they started) but Anabel was specifically stated to have come through an Ultra Wormhole from a place she protected a tower (AKA Emerald Hoenn) 10 years prior and Gen 3 takes place at the same time as Gen 1. Then we have a ~2 year hop to Gen 2/4. We know this to be the case because we know about that much time has elapsed between 1 and 2, D/P opens with a show on the Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage meaning they're occurring around the same time. Then you have another couple year jump for B/W and another couple years for B2/W2. X and Y takes place at the same time as B2/W2 so no time has elapsed there and then S/M occurs another couple years later to make the full 9 or 10 (though of course we now know X/Y/OR/AS/S/M aren't the same time line because Mega Evolution). They never confirmed it wholesale, with the exact numbers, but up to X/Y the games taking place at the same time or time elapsing between them was also confirmed by game staff and it fits perfectly well. This leaves a possible Iris in S/M only about 4 years on from when she was a Gym Leader. While they technically could mix it up and have her be born earlier in this time line, they seemingly have no plans to do so (though I personally think changing some of the old characters for this time line would be a great idea if done right).
Sigils, ETHEC. As much as you might hate me, it's kinda like a timeline. For example, Gen 1 is first, but then Gen 3 it something, then Gen 4, then Gen 6, then Gen 5. So that means that Iris could be an Adult. Also, imagination.
In Iris's offense she's a hypocritical asshole who believes that Dragons are the only perfect Pokémon. She refuses to train a Charizard after realizing it's not a Dragon, even though she has an Emolga and Excadrill. In the episode "Iris and the Rogue Dragonite", she sees Dragonite get attacked by a Hydreigon, but when asked how Dragonite got hurt, she doesn't tell people about the Hydreigon because she wants people to believe her stupid "there are no bad Dragon Types" belief. And don't even get me started on the little kid "gag" she loves to annoy viewers with. She's a disgrace to my favorite Type. Her game counterpart's okay, though.
