@@sozonpv Thanks! That’s a good good question, it’s not something that I’ve done before but it’s something that I’m going to do now.…. LOL. I’ll see if I can put together a video on it.
I have a 2012 MB pro as well. I haven't had time to look into installing linux but managed to install a ssd with more storage so looking forward to a linux distro install in future.
You did Kubuntu a while back.... how about KDE Neon? Or maybe SuSE Tumbleweed? I have one 15" and one 13", both 2012s, and switch linux versions every once in a while.
It's so tough to do battery tests on these older machines. Some people have replaced batteries, some people have the original and everything in between.
The red light, coming from that port, usually means that the switch for the digital vs analog output is stuck to digital. I don't think this is related to Linux but to something not releasing in the port, from a hardware perspective.. It's going to sound funny but I've seen that people blowing super hard, or blowing compressed air, into that port clears it out and fixes the problem. You can also try the toothpick trick of inserting a toothpick and VERY GENTLY moving it in circles to try and clear out whatever is gumming it up. Be very careful if you do that though, you could do some damage if you're too rough or part of the toothpick breaks off in the port.
@@EevnosLinuxBut the weird thing is that this does not happen when I'm using macOS or even Windows ( bootcamp ), it happens only when I use a linux distro.
Despite the quality of this distro, power management with mac laptop is awful. After a few weeks of test I switched back to el capitan with chromium legacy......
What Linux distribution do you want to see running on this 2012 MacBook Pro?
Thanks for another great video! How do you dual boot linux/monterey?

Obviously arch. I've done it before on my A1425 using my android phone for Internet. I think the iso has the broadcom_wl drivers on the iso too iirc.
Both Mint and Debian runs quite well on this. I have one with a 120Gb SSD and 16Gb RAM :-) I use it daily.
how about linux mint ?
I always liked Linux Mint cinnamon for the 2012 MacBook Pro. Much more modern desktop than XFCE and runs just as smooth.
Mint Cinnamon is more dependable than Xfce.

I have openSUSE on the "top 10 Distrowatch" list. I could definitely add KDE Neon as well.
@@EevnosLinux That would be great!
battery tests please, provided they are in "good" shape. I had very poor experiences with linux on old laptops with very short battery lifes.

My 13" mid 2012 mbp always lights on red light on the headphone jack port when I install linux on it ( any distro ), is there any solution for this ?

@@aymenballage2743 that’s really weird, I’ve never seen that on any distribution I’ve used.
What distribution are you using?
EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma 😂
I'm using Kubuntu on my 13" and it too has the constantly lit red light.
I’m running Kali on my MBP 2012 and running into trackpad/touchpad issues. Do you know of a fix for this? It gets stuck at times
MX Xfce IS THE BEST ONE EVER, IT JUST WORKS, FLAWLESSLY
The Hulk uses Linux!!!
Fedora
