People are surprised this looks like the untouchables. They literally said it’s the American version of the untouchables.
I’m still scared this version would ruin the original because the original won an Oscar to to a French Senegalese for a first time in the history of the French Oscar.

Sewing Fun ! please bare with me because recently I’ve had an attack from a male coworker and I have a concussion. So it may be a little bit weird punctuation. Let me explain my perspective. He wasn’t trying to be funny with the superstitious-comment. Many people especially those of color haven’t thought he was funny for a long time. Look at his audience from his recent shows compare it to his audience when he first started. Talking about kool aid is not progressive. He’s what my community calls a tap dancer. Liking himself to minstrel shows. He plays stereotypical roles and makes colorist jokes against dark skin black women. He can’t be taken seriously because he isn’t educated, like Dave Chapelle. He won’t evolve his comedy and just be a great storyteller.It’s not that people are to sensitive , but that kind of comedy unveils deep issues in the community. Those jokes cause problems because you don’t want someone thinking you’re loud, do not have good credit,or are masculine because you are a dark skin woman. He has made those jokes for years although black women were the ones supporting him at his tours way before he was mainstream. Also some white people see those jokes from a black man and think will he said it so it must be true. It’s ironic because, as you can see he’s rather dark himself. Also raising a beautiful dark skin daughter. So people want to hold him accountable for his actions. Also he didn’t apologize to the LBGTQ community. He said he would literally beat his child with the doll house if he caught him playing with one. Sometimes in black communities these LBGTQ teens are at risk. They have the highest numbers of domestic violence because (they are mercilessly beaten by their parents), being homeless,and committing high levels of suicide. I’m not trying to bring race and sexual orientation in it, but that’s why he won’t host.
Please see the original - you won't regret it and then see the remake after. It is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen.

The Intouchables is an absolutely fantastic movie, with an electric star/co-star in Omar Sy. I LOVE THAT MOVIE. My favorite "foreign film" of all, ever, probably.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but there are consequences to every action; some are inconsequential and some are way out of proportion. But the only way to avoid is to not be a jerk, treat people well and find a way to be funny without demeaning people or justifying violence. It's not a big ask.

French dude here, honest question: was the movie Intouchables never released in your country? I know it's a French movie, and you don't get all of our stuff over there, but it was quite a huge blockbuster, I would think you'd know of it? The story Kevin describes sounds EXACTLY like it, and the movie is not even that old (early 2010s I believe)...
Looks like it had a limited release in the US in 2012 and played a couple festivals. I watched it after hearing about it through word of mouth. Excellent film, one of the best of that year.
I saw it on TV. It was not popular, but it was really good. Films foreign to America are underrated here
Les Intouchables c'est incroyable! It was released here and was even available on Netflix! Unfortunately, too many Americans refuse to view foreign films due to subtitles. Also, many feel that a foreign film will be snobbish.
Eaque Johnson First we do know about the film.Second Kevin Hart is cancelled in some parts of the black community. He loves to tap dance. He is not funny. He always plays roles that are stereotypical and says colorist and homophobic things.

Everything is a remake. Established stories mean established audiences, when Hollywood wants to appear original they choose International instead of American films to remake. If you see a star driven, highly promoted movie then 8 out of 10 times it was something else first. Movie, TV show, book, or comic with a large fan base are the most common big money projects in Hollywood today.

@@evertonwood3310 Not only that, but if it's a true story, the only "original" is the actual real life people from the story, other than that, the story is free game as long as you're willing to pay for it. The French were the first to make a movie about it is all that can be said. Not they're the "originals" like they created it or something.

Stop hating on Kevin Hart! Ok, he messed up big time, but he has apologized multiple times. What he said was a long time ago, he was much younger, and yes, that doesn't justify everything, but we know people are projects, we evolve, we learn (hopefully). All of us have something to apologize for. If we truly regret it, if we say we are sorry and actually mean it, how long is it fair to keep being pinned to a wrong, in spite of all the rights in between?? Be generous! You can be better than this - and so can he, as he fully admitted.
Except for the small detail that he did *not*, in fact, apologize. He just brushed it aside. So before forgiveness, maybe start we the apology?

2. Americans generally stick with American films. They probably will not watch the original.
3. If the story is a great story, what is wrong with remaking it across the pond for all to see? This version is not harming the original because the original because it still exists. This version is not going to prevent Americans from seeing the original because if they haven't seen it by now, they won't.

Stephen showed a picture of Kevin's little boy around six minutes or so. Couldn't help remembering what Kevin had said about if his kid was gay. My friend's mum said, "Don't worry what other kids say. You know you're not gay." He was, though. My mum would have said, "Doesn't matter what they say. It's okay if you're gay and if they say otherwise, they're the ones who aren't okay." Aren't okay - just like Kevin.
