well said man! Again, never made any accusations at them, just some questions arise naturally of the condition of Eamon's board from the huge difference of what we feel vs what we saw. Obviously we aren't paid pros, but I've been riding for quite some time and have a decent idea how to feather an uphill climb. Just hard to fathom such a huge difference. Has the last 1.5 years riding vesc changed my muscle memory that much? Either way, we shouldn't take everything they market as gospel, things should be tested in the field to either confirm or provide a different perspective. I just simply can not accept the possibility that the riders have electrically modded boards because if that were to be exposed the downfall would just be too great.. In the end we'd just love to see them demonstrate that hill climbing prowess on Eamon's board, especially at 1% without the board shutting off. Neil, Austen and I go way back to the early days of riding, and all 3 of us made it to the TFL team together. Hoping to meet up for a friendly show down, and for ol time's sake.
Neil looked at his telephone and said it was on 1%. They won’t show up or proof it. Impossible even with a cat riding it, making that hill with 1% on a gts, period!
Ive never ridden a board like these before, but after seeing some videos on FMs "wonderful" business practices and "build quality" I started checking out videos like this. It is definitely entertaining seeing them (FM) get called out, plus seeing floatwheel outdo them in every way is a laugh. I'm hoping that sort of innovation and competition drives the prices on these things to a more accessible level, they seem really cool. subbed
thx for the sub. It truly is impressive how floatwheel and diy vesc boards outperform the fm boards in almost every way now except weight, and for much lower price than gts. The biggest thing is that we shouldn't take fm's sponsored vids automatically as gospel. Claims and performance demonstrations should be tested to confirm or provide an alternative perspective. Hoping to be shown one day how to keep the board from shutting off at high load at less than 10% battery.

I'd be surprised if you succeed in getting a show up or even a crooked answer from anyone who gets a FM paycheck I'm 99% sure it was on a "special" version of the GTS to save face
FFM! if they are only showing state of charge, make sure it is correct otherwise show more info, stack/cell voltage. I really hope they are going to fix this problem, but i dont expect much from FM.
Thanks dude! Love doing the comparisons of top boards, and I believe the community deserves the info. Nah haven't heard anything, even from last time on their 1% vid. Hopefully they can enlighten us on Eamon's board!
So did I, really wanted to feel that power. I will say u can feel the additional power over gt on smoother uphill terrain, but we found the gts is more prone to nose dipping on fast uphill ruts than gt. At that price it's way out of line in terms of value to diy vesc and fw. Btw I'll be rockin your shred juice shirt in the next vid premiering at 1030am PST 😊🤟🏻
I think FM's next board needs to come with an optional bluetooth remote like us VESC bois have. It would most likely climb it if the nose angle could be manipulated enough. That McNugget pendant is dope AF tho!
A bt remote dedicated to adjust one action? Dang, that's pretty hardcore. I'd rather just activate the action through my phone. Volume buttons should do the trick
I'd love to take this challenge but I live in Minnesota. Nevertheless, I've been doing my own hill tests in my area with the GTS and believe this hill is doable with the GTS. Of course I saw Neil's video so I know it is. At 1% though? I'm skeptical too so I admire your approach to hill climbing truth. Anyway, it looked to me like your GTS was giving up. Meaning, the footpad was disengaging when it shouldn't have even though you had "posi' d selected. Am I correct in this? I also saw the false start. I had similar problems with my GTS footpad even with posi selected. My solution was to take a partially deflated 10 lb medicine ball (if I had a heavier one I would have used it) and massage the footpad hardcore with it (with the board off of course - and reasonably warm) to break the footpad in a lot faster. This seemed to work and I haven't had a problem with it telling whether or not my foot is there but I haven't ridden it a whole lot since this is something I did very recently. Will be trying a more 'broken-in' footpad on hills soon.
Appreciate the support, simply trying to either confirm or provide a different perspective to their demonstration. No the board didn't disengage, it was shutting off completely due to BMS protecting the cells at low voltage sag under torque load at less than 12% (as it should). At this point we're hoping they can show that awesome 1% power on Eamon's GTS. And would be dope for you to come try one day! Maxx - You state in your two videos with the GT-S on this hill climb test that you are neutral party testing the board to report the results, and were even hoping the GT-S would perform well enough to add competitive capability to this product category. If that is really the case, why you have not done an updated video on this hill climb test with the GT-S equipped with its current gradient tracking firmware update? It has been over two-months now that the GT-S has been equipped with gradient tracking functionality, and yet you have not repeated this hill test, whereas your two existing GT-S hill test videos were both posted shortly after the GT-S release and shortly after the FM factory team's response video to your first video. The lack of an updated video post the GT-S's gradient tracking firmware update gives the distinct impression that you are not really interested in testing and showcasing the GT-S performance capability as a neutral party??
The hill is so steep if u zig zag aside from the very top u will lose your momentum. Just come on out one day and try for yourself, or on a hill similar to the incline here: 26/50% average grade, steepest part is 32/62.5%) at 1% battery. @@SoilSurfer it's not that I care they do it at 1% again, but doing it on Eamon's board. If they're going to market a product as having that sort of impressive performance, that shouldn't just go untested right? Should we take everything they showcase as gospel? That's why I invite anyone with a GTS to try a similar hill at 1% and see if they can prevent the board from shutting off. Even at 12%. Can prove us wrong too. I understand rider skill is a factor, but I ain't exactly a beginner and it's hard for me to see the big difference in hill climbing ability. Granted, I've been riding vesc for the last 1.5 years, but I still know how to ride a onewheel. Sorta lol. Another huge point here is that we simply weren't able to keep the board staying on at 10% going similar speed, similar weight, without deliberately pressing the nose into the ground. We found it difficult electronically. Is this 100% rider skill? Who knows, hence the friendly invite to show us on Eamon's board, not theirs. And fyi Eamon is more biased for fm to succeed, so there was no undercutting of any sort, even from me.
Haha, they will never show up! They might sue you for making that video and ruining their reputation! Just joking! Base on the math gts should be able to make it if the controller output the max current to the motor, so maybe he was riding the next version of GTs extreme coming out next year!
I knew it was bs. At 1% it wouldn't even be possible to ask for current that's not even there. As I stated on the fm video. It's complete bull. Also he's riding a factory board so they have complete control over it. And could literally make it say 1% whenever and even could Initiate pushback and beeps remotely.
Correct, he's just ridden pint, xr and gt previously. He also bought a Floatwheel but only rode it for a week before I broke it in a freak accident 😆 the thing is, Eamon now makes it up the hill easily on Floatwheel and diy superflux boards, still not all the way up on gts 🤷🏻♂️
@@MaxxSend Perfect, I just wanted to make sure the factor that people are arguing about was covered. Someone that has plenty of experience riding FM boards couldn't make it up the hill but was able to with a vesc/fw even with very little experience riding vesc. @@turningmagnets But, why Eamon's board behaves totally different from your board, you can see Eamon's GTS cut off at the foot of the hill at 14%, could you please kindly elaborate on that ?
@@floatwheel I feel like you already know the answer to that. Eamons battery likely needs to be balanced. Neils board was new out of the box with a full charge and was run from 100-1% continuously waiting for the battery sag to prevent the climb.
@@turningmagnets So you are saying eamon's battery is not balanced, and if eamon's board is balanced, it will reproduce the results you guys have? if it still doesn't get up that hill after balancing his board, what could it be then? @@turningmagnets It seems that a unbalanced battery pack will cause the board to shut off at14%, what if the rider is riding at speed? That could be a very serious injury right?
This may sound stupid, but I think the trick is to not stuff the nose into the ground. It's more of a balancing act, and maybe speed is not the solution. Patients.
Absolutely, we were never trying to stuff the nose, we sorta get that part lol. And that's why Eamon was feathering it at 4:50 & 6:15 at 1%. @@aaronsantos1936 you have to keep the nose off the ground which takes a little bit of skill since you have to maintain some momentum on your way up. FM boards don't have ATR and torque tilt back that DIY boards use to keep the nose up over steep terrain.

@@MaxxSend of course the one spot dude had to land was the only section with asphalt. Classic 😂 No, I don’t take what they say as gospel because I already know the GTS doesn’t have the same climbing power as vesc based boards. Pretty much everyone already knows that by now, which is why I feel like more videos on the topic only serves to feed fires. But theres Johnathan’s vid of the GTS making a steep climb while riders on a vesc and adv didn’t. That didn’t tell me those boards are actually trash because I’ve already seen plenty of evidence they can climb. Tony is obviously a very terrible rider but his board carried him right up a steep and deep ramp. Now, your first vid makes the GTS look pretty bad and the FFM people ate it right up and asked for seconds. Then along comes Neil and Austin to prove the GTS can actually make the same climb if ya feather it, which is actually more proof it doesn’t have the same power, yet is still capable. But instead of people accepting that it can climb, if the right rider is on it, FFM folks want to start claiming it’s all bs and that they are not to be trusted because they work for FM and that must mean they’re disingenuous, shills and sell outs trying to fool everyone. So, who’s actually got the wrong mentality? No, not you coz you’re just making content. But not me neither. 😂 Let’s just say it was refreshing to see TFL put out a video that had nothing to do with one wheels at all. No Us vs Them, just stoke, for everyone!
@@annuet6454 oh yea he was really annoyed about that asphalt sandwich landing lol So the thing I'm demonstrating here is not comparing gts to vesc, but that the board continually shuts off starting around 14% under uphill torque load. We were never able to get the gts to stay on past the lower part of the hill before the bms shut off the board (which is what it should be doing to protect the low voltage cells). This is in stark contrast to what they showcased at 1%. Yes I get that rider skill is involved, but we were feathering the nose and not trying to do anything to undercut the board's performance. Eamon is more biased for fm's success actually. It's not about trusting, it's about how far off the data is - the board won't even stay on at 14%! Lastly, for our experience climbing with the gts, we felt it nose dips on fast uphill ruts more easily than gt. Gt was consistently getting slightly higher than gts because it didn't nose dip as much, but gts overall made it higher when we tried many more times finding only the smoothest lines. Also it had to be in +3 nose and custom cranked up. How are those things equating to a realistic trail riding set up and situation? Not all trails are smooth and you're not gonna go downhill in +3 nose right. So that's how we factored our judgment of the gts performance from our own experience. This was the same agreement with Eamon and Andreas, not just me. Our mentality is to share our opinions as clearly as we can to the community. Your mentality is assuming we have an "us vs them" agenda. It's simply not the case. But it's all good man, we can agree to disagree. We just keep on doing our things.
@@MaxxSend no, I don’t believe that you and those in the video have an “us vs them” agenda because I don’t know y’all and wasn’t there during the shoot, so I don’t want to fall into the pit of assumptions, something our community has far too much of already. I’m talking more about the obvious rift that exists now and am essentially saying that any seasoned rider, who has been paying attention, already knows that while the GTS is quite capable of climbing, it just doesn’t stack up against the competition, which has been proven more than once already by different sources, so what else is there to really cover on that topic? Well, maybe LOTS more, but anymore definitely only really targets a specific audience who either want that kind of detail..or who get off on seeing FM put down. A brand new rider is not gonna jump on any of the one wheel type boards and just roll right up a hill climb like the one seen, so it’s definitely not for them right now, lol. But that’s just what I believe to be true to me, not a fact to everyone else. Or maybe it’s simply because I live in the south where hardly any hills, besides an old garbage dump or rock quarry, exist to climb on. 😂 I mean no disrespect to ya and I’m not saying your content is intentionally inflammatory. I totally understand that it’s up to me whether or not to click on a vid, if I think it smells like it might be soaked in fuel. Keep on keeping on. I know where the door is and that it swings both ways. ✌️ ❤️

cuz you're just gonna take everything that is a sponsored vid from fm as gospel? Nobody should test their claims to either confirm or provide a different perspective? For $3200, advertising impressive hill climbing power at 1% battery is shocking and counterintuitive to battery voltage sag, and if accurate should be reasonably available for an average/above average skill rider to enjoy that power too. I do hope they actually meet up. And I'm all for egging them on. They chose to be in the position they are in now, for good reason, but they will get some hate because they are no longer the voices of the community and no longer have the same freedom to say whatever they want.
But lets keep having fun and understand that these are still real people. We don't need conspiracy theories, we have enough of those outside of the monowheel community lol.
Float on my friends. Im excited for next season, more ADVs/vescs means more trails we can explore that were not part of our ability before!
well said man!
Hard to trust a company like FM in an capacity.... Nothing ya can do but spread the word. #FFM

Thanks dude! Love doing the comparisons of top boards, and I believe the community deserves the info. Nah haven't heard anything, even from last time on their 1% vid. Hopefully they can enlighten us on Eamon's board!

I really expected more from the Gts. They added so much voltage… and it still just doesn’t rip like VESC. 😢
@@MaxxSend oh heck yah! I’ll be ready to watch.
maybe they should have added more amps ;)
@@surfdado they might need to read a copy of VESC vocabulary to figure out what that means 😆

Yes dipped with BBQ sauce after! Haha jk it's plastic, I love chicky nuggies.
My GTS needs more juice at around 14% on any kind of small street hill.
I think they may have changed the software since then.
When I saw the 1% video I said yeah right is that at 1%... but it's fucking Neil! If it was anyone else I'd say BS!
It’s probably your posture
yep we are posture noobs
I set up an uphill and downhill racing segment at this hill: ruclips.net/video/NyX6OjqEEbw/видео.html

he said he's down for the friendly competition🤷♂
Something 🐟🐟🐟😂
You gotta zig zag to keep the wheel moving.
The hill is so steep if u zig zag aside from the very top u will lose your momentum. Just come on out one day and try for yourself, or on a hill similar to the incline here: 26/50% average grade, steepest
part is 32/62.5%) at 1% battery. I even invited a 130lb podium racer and he couldn't make it all the way up at 100% 🤷🏻♂️
Is there a prize if I make it? I’ve got a free Saturday and always love a good W or a humbling loss 😅
@@laurentbeauregard4666 I mean I'm really more interested in the Factory riders making it up on 1%. But I tell you what let's wager a cup o' coffee if you can beat my uphill and downhill time here :) let me know when you can come for your W!
@@laurentbeauregard4666 come try King of the Hill here: ruclips.net/video/NyX6OjqEEbw/видео.html
In my opinion they just cranked up the cutoff current threshold.
The XR was at 30A. The gts must certainly be higher, but still, you'll have a cutoff.
So That's Eamon's GTS. And from what I gathered, Eamon rode GT before the GTS right? He doesn't have that much vesc experience?
Correct, he's just ridden pint, xr and gt previously. He also bought a Floatwheel but only rode it for a week before I broke it in a freak accident 😆 the thing is, Eamon now makes it up the hill easily on Floatwheel and diy superflux boards, still not all the way up on gts 🤷🏻♂️
@@MaxxSend Perfect, I just wanted to make sure the factor that people are arguing about was covered. Someone that has plenty of experience riding FM boards couldn't make it up the hill but was able to with a vesc/fw even with very little experience riding vesc.
That's a key factor in your video that should be pointed out. People can argue that you made it up because you have a lot of vesc experience and a lot less GT/GTS experience, but they can't use that argument with Eamon, or the kids.
Only way Neil did it is if it was a vesc gt with gts rails and said he did it at 1%
GTS is weak but it shouldn't be. That beastly 1s battery should be capable of so much more.

TBH, Neil’s board doesn’t have haptic feedback. Buuuuuut, still BS. Why is the factory team acting like screen recording isn’t a thing on these phone apps? It’s disappointing when good riders go bad😢
Our boards have haptic. We were climbing this hill for 2 hrs killing the battery that's a long screen record. But you can see the board go red into low battery pushback in the video?
And why the onewheel BMS allows user to ride the board with a unbalanced battery pack, I mean, is that even safe to ride?
@@turningmagnets It seems that a unbalanced battery pack will cause the board to shut off at14%, what if the rider is riding at speed? That could be a very serious injury right?
🤙🏾
This may sound stupid, but I think the trick is to not stuff the nose into the ground. It's more of a balancing act, and maybe speed is not the solution. Patients.
Absolutely, we were never trying to stuff the nose, we sorta get that part lol. And that's why Eamon was feathering it at 4:50 & 6:15 at 1%. Instead the board shuts off, especially the attempt at 4:50 going slow. Anyway, not even a 130lb ow podium racer made it up at 100% charge. How accessible is this power that people pay $3200 for? U decide 🤷🏻♂️
@@MaxxSend Yeah, I forgot about that while I was responding. If the board cuts out, there's no amount of balancing and patients that will work.

@@aaronsantos1936 you have to keep the nose off the ground which takes a little bit of skill since you have to maintain some momentum on your way up. FM boards don't have ATR and torque tilt back that DIY boards use to keep the nose up over steep terrain.
Jfc, here we go again, more high octane fuel to feed the Us vs Them fire. Yall putting new meaning to that saying “I will die on this hill” 😂
you got the wrong mentality man, it's testing their extreme demonstration of 1% power under full torque. you just gonna take everything they show as gospel without anyone testing it? Oh, and yes we all sorta almost died from the latest vid here 😅ruclips.net/video/NyX6OjqEEbw/видео.html
@@MaxxSend of course the one spot dude had to land was the only section with asphalt. Classic 😂
No, I don’t take what they say as gospel because I already know the GTS doesn’t have the same climbing power as vesc based boards.
Let’s just say it was refreshing to see TFL put out a video that had nothing to do with one wheels at all.
I mean no disrespect to ya and I’m not saying your content is intentionally inflammatory. I totally understand that it’s up to me whether or not to click on a vid, if I think it smells like it might be soaked in fuel.

cuz you're just gonna take everything that is a sponsored vid from fm as gospel? Nobody should test their claims to either confirm or provide a different perspective? For $3200, advertising impressive hill climbing power at 1% battery is shocking and counterintuitive to battery voltage sag, and if accurate should be reasonably available for an average/above average skill rider to enjoy that power too.
