    • @surfdado
      @surfdado Год назад +3

      I wonder if there's any regrets about sharing Neil's 1% climb video - because it really sets false expectations. I bet if you picked 10 random FM boards (even if you restricted it to boards less than 6 months old), 9 of them will not even let you ride to 1%, let alone climb a hill at 1%. Neil's board sure is not representative of the average GTS or any FM board

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Год назад +3

      I don't know why some people doubt Neil was at 1%. You think a pro factory rider doesn't know what his percentage is at?😄Also he shows his app at 1% from his vid. But what was the intention of demonstrating full torque at 1%? Maybe Eamon's board is defective. If it is, his and all other GTSs should be fixed.

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Год назад +3

      @@surfdado this is exactly my point. If you're gonna market a sponsored vid showcasing full torque, shockingly impressive performance at 1%, people should be allowed to feel a somewhat close performance too, without the board shutting off starting at 12%. Also what kind of precedent does that set for people to try a steep hill climb at lower battery % with the higher possibility of a cut out, especially on actual trails with cliffs and steep drop offs🤷‍♂

  • @turningmagnets
    @turningmagnets Год назад +7

    Wish I could share videos of the prototypes we get to ride. That video was not one of them. It's a difficult hill and nose clearance becomes an issue. If you put the front bumper on the ground it's no longer an issue of torque. We climbed that hill 30+ times by finding the line that avoided all the pot holes and maintaining 2+mph momentum so as to not have to accelerate and put the nose into the ground.

    Man after looking at the comments i think some people actually believe neil has a special board or firmware.
    Im pretty sure max was just poking guys. Theres no reason to believe that the pro riders are lying about going up a hill. Yes theres a lot of things they probably arent allowed to say or show but its not some big conspiracy theory.
    Yall need to relax, these guys get to ride at least 10x more than most riders. They will have drasticslly more skill and be in tune with their rides.
    For them to meet with max and to set a date for it to be recorded has to be approved by FM. They are paid athletes now, they cant create content without going through proper channels.
    Im a vesc rider, will never buy a fm board again after selling all of mine off 2 years ago, but for real, this isn't a conspiracy. We can Joke about it to egg on the pro riders to come out to the community more though and I'm sure thats what max is doing. :)
    I do hope they actually meet up. And I'm all for egging them on. They chose to be in the position they are in now, for good reason, but they will get some hate because they are no longer the voices of the community and no longer have the same freedom to say whatever they want.
    But lets keep having fun and understand that these are still real people. We don't need conspiracy theories, we have enough of those outside of the monowheel community lol.
    Float on my friends. Im excited for next season, more ADVs/vescs means more trails we can explore that were not part of our ability before!

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Год назад

      well said man! Again, never made any accusations at them, just some questions arise naturally of the condition of Eamon's board from the huge difference of what we feel vs what we saw. Obviously we aren't paid pros, but I've been riding for quite some time and have a decent idea how to feather an uphill climb. Just hard to fathom such a huge difference. Has the last 1.5 years riding vesc changed my muscle memory that much? Either way, we shouldn't take everything they market as gospel, things should be tested in the field to either confirm or provide a different perspective. I just simply can not accept the possibility that the riders have electrically modded boards because if that were to be exposed the downfall would just be too great.. In the end we'd just love to see them demonstrate that hill climbing prowess on Eamon's board, especially at 1% without the board shutting off. Neil, Austen and I go way back to the early days of riding, and all 3 of us made it to the TFL team together. Hoping to meet up for a friendly show down, and for ol time's sake.

      thx for the sub. It truly is impressive how floatwheel and diy vesc boards outperform the fm boards in almost every way now except weight, and for much lower price than gts. The biggest thing is that we shouldn't take fm's sponsored vids automatically as gospel. Claims and performance demonstrations should be tested to confirm or provide an alternative perspective. Hoping to be shown one day how to keep the board from shutting off at high load at less than 10% battery.

Of course I saw Neil's video so I know it is. At 1% though? I'm skeptical too so I admire your approach to hill climbing truth.
    Anyway, it looked to me like your GTS was giving up. Meaning, the footpad was disengaging when it shouldn't have even though you had "posi' d selected. Am I correct in this? I also saw the false start. I had similar problems with my GTS footpad even with posi selected.
    My solution was to take a partially deflated 10 lb medicine ball (if I had a heavier one I would have used it) and massage the footpad hardcore with it (with the board off of course - and reasonably warm) to break the footpad in a lot faster. This seemed to work and I haven't had a problem with it telling whether or not my foot is there but I haven't ridden it a whole lot since this is something I did very recently. Will be trying a more 'broken-in' footpad on hills soon.

It has been over two-months now that the GT-S has been equipped with gradient tracking functionality, and yet you have not repeated this hill test, whereas your two existing GT-S hill test videos were both posted shortly after the GT-S release and shortly after the FM factory team's response video to your first video. @@MaxxSend of course the one spot dude had to land was the only section with asphalt. Classic 😂
      No, I don’t take what they say as gospel because I already know the GTS doesn’t have the same climbing power as vesc based boards. Pretty much everyone already knows that by now, which is why I feel like more videos on the topic only serves to feed fires. But theres Johnathan’s vid of the GTS making a steep climb while riders on a vesc and adv didn’t. That didn’t tell me those boards are actually trash because I’ve already seen plenty of evidence they can climb. Tony is obviously a very terrible rider but his board carried him right up a steep and deep ramp. Now, your first vid makes the GTS look pretty bad and the FFM people ate it right up and asked for seconds. Then along comes Neil and Austin to prove the GTS can actually make the same climb if ya feather it, which is actually more proof it doesn’t have the same power, yet is still capable. But instead of people accepting that it can climb, if the right rider is on it, FFM folks want to start claiming it’s all bs and that they are not to be trusted because they work for FM and that must mean they’re disingenuous, shills and sell outs trying to fool everyone.
      So, who’s actually got the wrong mentality? No, not you coz you’re just making content. But not me neither. 😂
      Let’s just say it was refreshing to see TFL put out a video that had nothing to do with one wheels at all. No Us vs Them, just stoke, for everyone!

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Год назад +1

      @@annuet6454 oh yea he was really annoyed about that asphalt sandwich landing lol So the thing I'm demonstrating here is not comparing gts to vesc, but that the board continually shuts off starting around 14% under uphill torque load. We were never able to get the gts to stay on past the lower part of the hill before the bms shut off the board (which is what it should be doing to protect the low voltage cells). This is in stark contrast to what they showcased at 1%. Yes I get that rider skill is involved, but we were feathering the nose and not trying to do anything to undercut the board's performance. Eamon is more biased for fm's success actually. It's not about trusting, it's about how far off the data is - the board won't even stay on at 14%! Lastly, for our experience climbing with the gts, we felt it nose dips on fast uphill ruts more easily than gt. Gt was consistently getting slightly higher than gts because it didn't nose dip as much, but gts overall made it higher when we tried many more times finding only the smoothest lines. Also it had to be in +3 nose and custom cranked up. How are those things equating to a realistic trail riding set up and situation? Not all trails are smooth and you're not gonna go downhill in +3 nose right. So that's how we factored our judgment of the gts performance from our own experience. This was the same agreement with Eamon and Andreas, not just me. Our mentality is to share our opinions as clearly as we can to the community. Your mentality is assuming we have an "us vs them" agenda. It's simply not the case. But it's all good man, we can agree to disagree. We just keep on doing our things.

    • @annuet6454
      @annuet6454 Год назад

      @@MaxxSend no, I don’t believe that you and those in the video have an “us vs them” agenda because I don’t know y’all and wasn’t there during the shoot, so I don’t want to fall into the pit of assumptions, something our community has far too much of already. I’m talking more about the obvious rift that exists now and am essentially saying that any seasoned rider, who has been paying attention, already knows that while the GTS is quite capable of climbing, it just doesn’t stack up against the competition, which has been proven more than once already by different sources, so what else is there to really cover on that topic? Well, maybe LOTS more, but anymore definitely only really targets a specific audience who either want that kind of detail..or who get off on seeing FM put down. A brand new rider is not gonna jump on any of the one wheel type boards and just roll right up a hill climb like the one seen, so it’s definitely not for them right now, lol. But that’s just what I believe to be true to me, not a fact to everyone else.
      Or maybe it’s simply because I live in the south where hardly any hills, besides an old garbage dump or rock quarry, exist to climb on. 😂
      I mean no disrespect to ya and I’m not saying your content is intentionally inflammatory. I totally understand that it’s up to me whether or not to click on a vid, if I think it smells like it might be soaked in fuel.
