Did research on Hedy. Their lives are almost identical! I think that's why he's so drawn to her. She was a very beautiful actress, often called "the most beautiful actress of all time"! But Hollywood never really took her seriously; she wanted to act in roles with substance, but they only wanted to cast her in less meaningful roles that were about showcasing her beauty, not her acting skills. She wasn't happy with that at all. They offered the role of the leading lady of Cablanca to her first, but she turned it down. Then she was offered some pills on set that were supposed to help her relax and de-stress and ended up becoming addicted to them. The film companies started saying she was acting erratic on set and difficult to work with, because she was so vocal in demanding work based on her talent rather just her beauty. So as time went on she fell into her work as an inventor. She had been working on different projects since she was 5 years old -- long story short, back in the 1940's she offered the Military her invention, but they didn't believe in it -- said it would be "too cumbersome to develop or operate" -- told her to stick with what she knew and if she really wanted to help, go sell some war bonds! She did, but she also put a patent on her invention. Years later, the Military started using her invention which kept their enemies from being able to "lock onto" their positions -- WITHOUT PAYING HER ONE PENNY OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGING HER! But to them, she was only a beautiful face to exploit and make money off of. After her acting career withered up, she became a recluse. She died in 2000 at the age of 85, from heart disease. She married 6 times and ended up having only one son. If you look back at the words to the song, you'll see why he identifies with her so much. This is exactly what he feels Hollywood did to him. You can feel the pain in the words. They are not just about her. I do not want to imagine how the past 6 years stole so of much of his faith and generosity. So many people he held dear, ripped him to shreds without a thought. I know in my heart he will never be the same man. Its almost like he had some sweet child like innocence, that gave him the magic to create his characters. He put his full faith in so many and gave so much, to be turned on in an instant, by a few lying words. No one cared there was no evidence or convictions. Just one lowlife snakes word vomit.
Jeff Beck & Johnny are great together. Johnny reminds me of the great legend Leonard Cohen at times with his story-telling ballads told with grit & growl in his voice, but he’s hitting highs too with such natural ease. I’m very impressed. The music gives me “Moody Blues vibes. It’s so nice to hear the intricate notes on the guitars and other instruments. I don’t usually comment on RUclips videos but this is awesome teamwork. I think something big is in the making here. Stay true to yourself Johnny and do our native ancestors proud!
