    I've seen quite a few Colt Ralliarts in my country, Singapore. It was offered with either a 5 Speed Manual or a CVT. There was even a bigger version of this car called the Colt Plus.
    The 4G15 engine is an extremely solid engine. It started production in 1983 and it is still being produced to this day under license in China!

    Its always cool to see Colts in the USA/Canada, they are very rare there but here in europe we have other versions like the CZT / CZT Ralliart (2 door hatchbacks) that had from 150 to 197hp from the factory depending on the country, i currently own a 2005 CZT that had 150hp stock and with just the ralliart map and with the removal of a little restrictor in the turbo solenoid (goes from 0.8 bar to 1.3/1.4 bar) it made 198hp and 294nm of torque. Its a hell of a fun car with 1050ish kg, its def a little sleeper!

    There aren't many cars you show that I haven't heard of but this is one of them. What a strange little car. Carmakers love to keep the good stuff in their home country. I doubt this would have sold in the US as it's small and cheap inside. I love how it's clearly an economy car that Mitsubishi tried to make look tough.

    6:57 - I think this is more a factor of NHTSA and/or EPA regulations keeping fun & interesting cars out of the country. Did this car reach U.S. crash safety standards, and if not, what would Mitsubishi spend to make it conform? Would the U.S. demand for such a small car justify the costs of upfitting it to U.S. standards? 🤷‍♂️

    • @scott8919
      @scott8919 6 месяцев назад +3

      You can have fun and interesting and still meet safety regulations. The problem is that customers in the USA want larger vehicles. That's why you're seeing so many companies drop their subcompacts and redesign current models to make them larger. I don't particularly like it myself, but they're doing what makes them the most money and I can't blame them from a business standpoint.

      Although these cars are very interesting, putting yourself in the shoes of a US buyer - why would you compromise the benefits of a larger vehicle (e.g. space, ride quality and performance) when you can spend just a couple grand extra and get something like a Civic?

      @@doug6191 CAFE MPG needing to be 40% more economical for cars than SUVs doesn't help either. Between the lower profit margins, CAFE and CAFE making "hot" hatchbacks especially unviable due to the footprint rule (i.e., small car with "big" engine = bad, mid-size SUV with the same 1.5-1.6 turbo engine = acceptable), it's enough to make the Detroit auto makers give up on making small cars (as opposed to SUVs) entirely.

    1. Only RHD. For me in Eastern Europe, i can only find them in UK and Russia.
    2. They are all OVERPRICED. Around 10,000€ and more. For heavens sake, i would rather get an RX8 again, in very good condition for 10,000€,
