    Your founder, Saint Ignatius, was a great Saint and a revolutionary. His life was a roller coaster of sanctity , loyalty, poverty and faith in God. Alcalá, Barcelona, Rome, Holy Land, Salamanca, Paris...Rome. It took him a while to finish his theological studies because he was determined to guide other Christians He had very clear ideas about his vocation to chastity , obedience to the Pope and total poverty and his spiritual exercises are very useful for any Christian even today.He trusted completely in God, he didn’t have a penny, but he knew God would provide. The Company of Jesus is still here after 800 years. It is no human enterprise, it is a work of God.

    I have a question about the poverty vow. That means that you cannot bring anything except from clothes into novitiate, or that you do not own a smartphone to keey in touch with family, Friends or Jesuit Brothers?

    • @TheJesuitPost
      @TheJesuitPost  3 года назад +1

      Great question! In general we receive a list of items, mostly clothing, that we are supposed to bring to the novitiate. From that point forward, the Jesuits provide what we need and everything that we have is provided by and belongs to our community. In the novitiate we usually use land lines or have common cell phones or computers for the sake of keeping in touch with family and friends. Outside of the novitiate we are able to get a phone and other possessions, but these are again provided through our communities directly or through an "allowance" that we receive from our communities. One of the main hallmarks of the vow of poverty for Jesuits is that everything we receive is given to our communities and our communities provide what we need.

    • @friedrichhooper7621
      @friedrichhooper7621 3 года назад +1

      @@TheJesuitPost Interesting! So, if a novice has some books he would like to bring with him in his consacrated Life, Is he allowed to do so? Last but not the least, is the allowance monthly or linked to a request of expense by the man?
      Yes, I'm asking for myself

    • @TheJesuitPost
      @TheJesuitPost  3 года назад +1

      @@friedrichhooper7621 More great questions! In the novitiate it would be fine to bring some books as long as they weren't bringing an entire library with them. That being said, Jesuits tend to accumulate quite a few books over time. Some do end up collecting quite a few and the books are usually related to their area of ministry or study. When it comes to the allowance, in the novitiate it is usually monthly. In later stages of formation this amount is worked into a budget, which might include other needs like books and clothing.

    Question I always thought ALL priests whatever there calling which ever order they choose they all take a vow of chastity, poverty and obedience Isn't a promise the same as a vow to live a religious life of poverty, chastity and obedience? And no priest is allowed to own anything of value.

    Thanks for the video. It´s cool and inviting.
    I´m writing fiction staged around 1750 in Latin America and have some questions. I would be gratefull if you can help my with some of them.
    1) How would two jesuits greet one another if they never met before?
    2) How would a jesuit greet a member of another Order, say a franciscan, in the same situation? 3) Did a "calling" played an important role in the decision to become a jesuit, or in the acceptance of a novice into the order? I mean: was a "calling" an important experience to become a Jesuit?
    4) San Ignacio de Loyola was a soldier. What would happen, if some person with a significantly sinfull past showed up and said he had a "calling" to become a Jesuit? Would he be admitted?
    Thanks a lot for your time y un afectuoso saludo desde Argentina :-)))

    Ok I have a question....you said the difference between a Jesuit & a diocesan priest is that a Jesuit can be sent to anywhere, but what if you are sent by the your superior or more so by the Pope to run a diocese, you sure don't lose your being a Jesuit because of that, right? Just like Pope Francis, he served as a diocessan priest, bishop, cardinal & now Pope didn't he? Agustinians, Franciscans & Domincans too can be diocesan priests too right or ...not really?

    I am a person with a great sense of humor but I think you have overdone it here...I mean, use humor, but sparingly and in a dignified way...Like, for example, how the founder is portrayed (Iggy is a cute nickname but making him grumble or make noises like that seems to reduce him to something absurd or similiar) or when that Icon of the Risen Christ came out (which was supposed to inspire reverence)...Of course, the Pope Francis clip was done well...For it is truly a new job for the Jesuits. The fact is...if I were an ignoramus or a non-Catholic, I would have the impression that you guys aren't serious, you did not treat the topics with the reverence and seriousness they deserve...In other words, use humor, just don't overdo it...make it dignified, make it funny but not degrading to a certain extent. Oh by the way, it's not only Poverty, Chastity and Obedience...It's the specific mission for the Church...to be sent wherever the Pope may send you...Thank you and pray for me at mass God bless you.

    Jesuits are the military order of the católica Church. The world is moved by jesuit intervención. Ignatius of Loyola, when he founded, "The Compañía de Jesus" actually Gesu!!!, also gave specific goals to his army. The book " La Monita Sectreta" is the book in which teaches how to act and always come thriunfant for the Jesuit order.

You worship the pope not God, your tear scripture to pieces and you spiritually break Gods people to bits. The catholic church is Babylon the great and God has given us a prophecy of her destruction and of those still found in her. "Get out of her my people!"

    Jesuits today are sadly synonymous of heterodoxy..
    They are famously known as proud people, very involved in many different activities but not so much involved in devotions and prayer!
    They are not as obedient to God as they are to their superiors.
    Saint Ignatius (who was a great saint!) would not be so proud of the shape of his Order today.. let us pray for the Jesuits
