Adam Weishaupt....?
I love this!!!! You guys rock!!!!
I read The Sparrow ! I loved the explanation the priest gave to the Jewish woman on "The Mass" using the star of David.
This clip is fantastic -- enlightening and...entertaining!!! I can't wait to share it with all my 359 friends ;-) Spread the word...
Great info - Thanks
Can you clarify the promise vs the vow? And an era/time of establishment? Thx.
@sunnydsj What are the differences between The Society of Jesus and the Dominican's? thanks
The jesuits are very down to earth but kind of wired - seems like they are willing to bend the faith to please people.
Will you please explain in detail the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
Here is an article that we have that describes the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. It is difficult to go into too much detail, but it should help. thejesuitpost.org/2021/09/jesuit-101-the-spiritual-exercises-the-heart-of-the-jesuits/
Your founder, Saint Ignatius, was a great Saint and a revolutionary. His life was a roller coaster of sanctity , loyalty, poverty and faith in God. Alcalá, Barcelona, Rome, Holy Land, Salamanca, Paris...Rome. It took him a while to finish his theological studies because he was determined to guide other Christians He had very clear ideas about his vocation to chastity , obedience to the Pope and total poverty and his spiritual exercises are very useful for any Christian even today. He trusted completely in God, he didn’t have a penny, but he knew God would provide. The Company of Jesus is still here after 800 years. It is no human enterprise, it is a work of God.
Do Jesuits train along with normal seminarians in say the Vatican ? and do they learn the same materials ?
Thannks
Absolutely
great job! fantastic and entertaining! keep the good work!
Very Good.
I have a question about the poverty vow. That means that you cannot bring anything except from clothes into novitiate, or that you do not own a smartphone to keey in touch with family, Friends or Jesuit Brothers?
Great question! In general we receive a list of items, mostly clothing, that we are supposed to bring to the novitiate. From that point forward, the Jesuits provide what we need and everything that we have is provided by and belongs to our community. In the novitiate we usually use land lines or have common cell phones or computers for the sake of keeping in touch with family and friends. Outside of the novitiate we are able to get a phone and other possessions, but these are again provided through our communities directly or through an "allowance" that we receive from our communities. One of the main hallmarks of the vow of poverty for Jesuits is that everything we receive is given to our communities and our communities provide what we need.
@@TheJesuitPost Interesting! So, if a novice has some books he would like to bring with him in his consacrated Life, Is he allowed to do so? Last but not the least, is the allowance monthly or linked to a request of expense by the man?
Yes, I'm asking for myself
@@friedrichhooper7621 More great questions! In the novitiate it would be fine to bring some books as long as they weren't bringing an entire library with them. That being said, Jesuits tend to accumulate quite a few books over time. Some do end up collecting quite a few and the books are usually related to their area of ministry or study. When it comes to the allowance, in the novitiate it is usually monthly. In later stages of formation this amount is worked into a budget, which might include other needs like books and clothing.
Question I always thought ALL priests whatever there calling which ever order they choose they all take a vow of chastity, poverty and obedience Isn't a promise the same as a vow to live a religious life of poverty, chastity and obedience? And no priest is allowed to own anything of value.
You're thinking of nuns.....
when pope Francis became a bishop ....his vows as a Jesuit was automatically dispensed ...so he is in charge of a diocese but brings in the Jesuit spirituality to his work ,,,thanks
You guys did me the honor of educating me (Fordham GSAS 1995-Theology). I'm a fan forever.
What's the difference between the Spirituality of Jesuits and Diocesan priest
Jesuits diddle kids
Kudos.
A Jesuite is an intulectual order. When I first met my teacher, I was impressed by his interlectual skills. If I asked a question, the answer came as a different question. Shall we call this spiritual guidance? Be openminded, think study...........I am proud to have had a Jesuite Master!
I love you guys so much. pray for me, I might be joining soon.
Awesome! Good luck with the application process. You will be in our prayers!
I pray that you dont join brother.
We got the inspiration for #AskIggy when we received a gift from Loyola Press. We are working with them to get a few more. We definitely think there should be more Iggy Bobbleheads in the world! Keep following TJP and we'll let people know if we are able to rustle up a new supply.
Interesting
On the lighter side, the diocesan priest has a bank account, the Jesuit has a bank.🤗
Thanks for the video. It´s cool and inviting.
I´m writing fiction staged around 1750 in Latin America and have some questions. I would be gratefull if you can help my with some of them.
1) How would two jesuits greet one another if they never met before?
2) How would a jesuit greet a member of another Order, say a franciscan, in the same situation? 3) Did a "calling" played an important role in the decision to become a jesuit, or in the acceptance of a novice into the order? I mean: was a "calling" an important experience to become a Jesuit?
4) San Ignacio de Loyola was a soldier. What would happen, if some person with a significantly sinfull past showed up and said he had a "calling" to become a Jesuit? Would he be admitted?
Thanks a lot for your time y un afectuoso saludo desde Argentina :-)))
You really need to get a hold of Kevin Hicks. He has a RUclips channel, HistorySquad.
I was hoping that you would give the demonic version of these peoples, but you don't
God called me to the priesthood years ago and now, as I finish my undergraduate Bible degree, I would like to know a little bit about the Jesuits and their history for a better understanding of the holy priesthood. I need to decide whether to be a diocesan priest or a Jesuit priest sooner than later. Any official help? Thanks! Blessings.
So'ham सो ऽहम् ...good luck to you and may God bless you!
Ru a priest nw ?
We have episodes in production, so stay tuned. The more questions we get, the more Iggy gets inspired. So spread the word and tweet your suggestions @TheJesuitPost and/or post em right here in the comments.
Isn't another difference between SJs and Diocesan priests that you all have are specifically obedient to the Pope? And how does the new Pope and the SJ Superior General work together?
Very well. Father General is working very closely with beloved Pope Francisco to help the world.
Can a jesuit priest be an exorcist?
Yes, a Jesuit can be an exorcist. We don't really have much more information than that, but it is definitely possible.
Awesome hahaha
Weird.
btw, nice pun with Sparrow book ;) expedition to Rakhat organized by the Jesuit order is comming :P
Nice job, guys.
So I keep wondering if we'll replace the old shibboleth "Is the Pope Catholic?" with "Is the Pope Jesuit?"
AMDG
Pope Francis is a Jesuit priest who became Pope...who "is" the vicar of Christ and he makes me proud to be apart of the church that Jesus began 2000 years ago!
God will destroy the antichrist pope and all those who worship him instead of the Almighty God.
Not Lewis and Martin, but pretty damn funny! LOL
The Monita Secreta.
I pray to Jesus, with the intercession of St. Dismas( the first Canonized saint), for more quality vocations to the Jesuit Order worldwide especially from US, UK, Spain, Sweden, France, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Czech, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Canada, South Africa, Tanzania, Angola, Nigeria.
How quickly can I share this with my entire family? ASAP Looking forward to hearing/reading more. Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Gary M.
Thanks! Share away.
Sincerely,
"the people who check"
I love the Jesuits& have been enriched by their support of me as a pastoral minister. Thank you, brothers
So theyre heretics, then.
Could you guys do one of the difference between a Jesuit priest and a Dominican priest. And when will Eric get ordained
Jesuit priests are members of an order and take vows; Diocesan Priests are under the authority of a Bishop . . . .
Ok I have a question....you said the difference between a Jesuit & a diocesan priest is that a Jesuit can be sent to anywhere, but what if you are sent by the your superior or more so by the Pope to run a diocese, you sure don't lose your being a Jesuit because of that, right? Just like Pope Francis, he served as a diocessan priest, bishop, cardinal & now Pope didn't he? Agustinians, Franciscans & Domincans too can be diocesan priests too right or ...not really?
You talked so fast I didn't understand a word of it!!!!
Why do people say the jesuits are evil?
Good question, still no answer after 5 months
Do some research...they run everything look up the jesuit oath..
I am planning to join the novitiate, kindly it's people misunderstood the Jesuit especially the environment you will find them.. For example a Jesuit can visit you in any place you are and share a moment with you just for a talk, while others priest may ask for proper arrangements 🥺🥺
NIcceeeeeee Awesome video
like u guys or yes i like you :)
I am a person with a great sense of humor but I think you have overdone it here...I mean, use humor, but sparingly and in a dignified way...Like, for example, how the founder is portrayed (Iggy is a cute nickname but making him grumble or make noises like that seems to reduce him to something absurd or similiar) or when that Icon of the Risen Christ came out (which was supposed to inspire reverence)...Of course, the Pope Francis clip was done well...For it is truly a new job for the Jesuits. The fact is...if I were an ignoramus or a non-Catholic, I would have the impression that you guys aren't serious, you did not treat the topics with the reverence and seriousness they deserve...In other words, use humor, just don't overdo it...make it dignified, make it funny but not degrading to a certain extent. Oh by the way, it's not only Poverty, Chastity and Obedience...It's the specific mission for the Church...to be sent wherever the Pope may send you...Thank you and pray for me at mass God bless you.
Jesuits are the military order of the católica Church. The world is moved by jesuit intervención. Ignatius of Loyola, when he founded, "The Compañía de Jesus" actually Gesu!!!, also gave specific goals to his army. The book " La Monita Sectreta" is the book in which teaches how to act and always come thriunfant for the Jesuit order.
You are with me or against me!!!!! Truly Jesuit Order.
I grew up in a Jesuit Dioscese in Nigeria... they were like Pentecostal Pastor to me, they visited our homes, worked/walked the neighborhoods and as a child I was particularly drawn to their level of selflessness especially benevolence...Thumbs up Jesuits...
I kinda liked this video, but the iggy dude was somewhat annoying...lol gj.
I already was sold on the Jesuits, but now have an additional reason to love them!
Gee, how original, we've never heard that before. ;)
Sounds like you subscribe to the the old adage "A cult is a church down the street from your church."
i never heard of jesuit priest or what have you. Until i heard about the movie silence. From Andrew Garfield it sounds interesting
Santo Inácio em sua constituição não permite que um Jesuíta seja Papa
We already have Frank, we already have. :)
Who calls us the richest congregation? We swore that was the Franciscans? ;) Explaining poverty might be a great question for another segment. Shall we ask Iggy?
Poverty? Then how come that your group has been called the richest congregation? Is that poverty?
Jayson Tikwil ... The catholic church has had 2000 years to establish herself...all glory to Jesus! How long has your man made group been going for now...10 - 20 maybe 30 years...! Don't know why not so nice people feel they have to attack the Catholic church....Jesus did say that the gates of hell will never prevail against it! God bless you!
The catholic church is Rome who murdered the christians then like a true psychopath who cuts of the face of their dead victim then put it on and pretends to be their dead victim, that is catholicism. You worship the pope not God, your tear scripture to pieces and you spiritually break Gods people to bits. The catholic church is Babylon the great and God has given us a prophecy of her destruction and of those still found in her. "Get out of her my people!"
@@zangiefromanov2563 amen
Yet still worth commenting upon… must've struck a nerve somewhere.
The Jesuit one is deceiving you and is presently with his other Jesuit leaders bringing us back to the dark ages with his tyrannical Roman Catholic army run by the pope. Read Vatican assasins . The Jesuit where kicked out of many societies in the past ....hmmm I wonder why??? Layola is a satanic worshipper. Take care.
Great post Matt. But it's about to get deleted lol.
Francisco não é católico
Boring!!!
"Iggy"...really?! That's disrespectful.
Jesuits today are sadly synonymous of heterodoxy..
They are famously known as proud people, very involved in many different activities but not so much involved in devotions and prayer!
They are not as obedient to God as they are to their superiors.
Saint Ignatius (who was a great saint!) would not be so proud of the shape of his Order today.. let us pray for the Jesuits
