These design shows are perplexing to me. I have taken an interior design course and the thing we were taught is to take the owner's style and elevate it but not impose your own style. You can leave your designer's mark while ensuring the room reflects the owner's aesthetic.

The old orange decor was actually not offensive to me, lol, but I love the level of chic sophistication existing now. The nearly two-week delay was worth it in the end. If it were my space, however, I would have to add a few accents with color, perhaps a vase or flower pot.

I have loads of neutrals and black in my place but I thought the all orange was cool! You’ve been kinder to people whose places were horrible!

    I freakin loved the orange!!

Eh. Yes the orange was overwhelming and it did need a good layout, but for me, now it looks like everyone else's modern flat; no personality, just black and white with a few neutrals tossed in. I do like the chandelier; thats really nice. For me, it's just boring. I hope the homeowner adds personality

I agree about the chandelier. I think it's elegant & my favorite new thing in her place.

I loved the orange, and I'm pushing 80. Also, I do sometimes like a restrained style of decorating in terms of colour, but in this case for me the new version would make a great decor magazine pic, but I'd rather live with the orange, including the pics on the wall. It feels like a real, individual space for a real, individual person. And warm and happy. Also, am I the only person for whom the monochrome look has somehow ended up more cluttered looking than the orange? Ah well, as long as Keira is happy, i'm happy. I like her. I like what I pick up of Kelly's personality too, but I think she's stuck in the current decorating zeitgeist. This is the first example of her work I've watched, so I may be wrong.

SO interesting how Kelly transformed this warm, colorful apartment into just the opposite of what the owner asked for.
    No taupe or beige?? 🤣😂
Perhaps Kelly should refund the big$$$... absolutely no empathy and tho it's chic, it's blah. Stick with corporate, Kelly old girl. 🤷

I like the orange, too. I can see making a change, but only still to the owner’s taste for bright colors.

Kelly seems to have trouble listening to her clients & evaluating their style. She more or less decorates what SHE thinks the space should be. BTW, the area rug is too big as well as the chandelier. She gets a big 👎, because in a few months the client will comment "well, it's pretty but it's not me or my taste."

I love color ,lots of color and I think a space has to be the way the person that lives in it wants it ,loves it ,no matter what color it is .I love pink yellow blue many shades of all of those and not beige r many neutrals unless there's lots of color in with them . But ;That was a ton of orange and even though I love pink most ,I wouldn't want all pink r all any color .

Now it is beige and brown, like in 80. I do not think that the owner is apreciate it really, she is being polite. I do not like beige/brown, honestly. The design is ok except she could put the coutch red or green or blue and olso other decorations too. The girl like strong colors, why take it from her?

Hoppen bullied and insulted this client mercilessly. I thought client might weep a couple of times. Hoppen ignored everything the client wanted and forced the Kelly Hoppen trademark design down her throat. Kelly is a one trick pony-unable to adapt to client’s perspectives & instead relies on bullying, insulting, intimidation to change her clients opinions. My respect for her has evaporated.

Can we say "White Washed!". Perfect example of striping culture from decorating. What Kelly did as the typical designer is force assimilation onto her client. In addition to striping color, she also removed nice cultured accessories that reflected Kara's taste. There was nothing cluttered about Kara's apartment. Calling orange tacky are just trigger words belittling her Client.

This is too flat of a color scheme. She has bright in her dna. She should have a more fun eclectic look with an orange chair.

The orange might have been a little too much but at least it had character and personality. What it became maybe chic and classy but it is boring as all heck and is the same thing everybody else has or wants.

@@twistoffate4791 It's kind of odd. The client loves real colour so the designer gives her, literally, no colour. I don't get it.

-central Wisconsin: A age space now looks drab, lifeless and boring. The only nice thing is the chandelier. If I were the owner, I’d get some colorful paint put up on the walls, -at least 1-2 walls. Currently, the new space makes me feel down in the dumps. I’m sorry the designer did not design for the vibrant customer, but rather designed for herself. What a shame. There’s not even colorful artwork. I’m saying it again, it’s just drab and lifeless.

    • @hmmcinerney
      @hmmcinerney 2 года назад +1

In England even if you own the flat it can still have a lease, often as little as 60 years, which affects the price. The leaseholder takes a small fee each year, although that varies hugely. Sometimes the freehold can be bought - or extra years - can be bought by the owner. A flat with freehold lease would be more valuable. It’s a strange system.
