    I loved this! Thanks Sarah! Surprised how dark you painted the blade of the knife and how perfect it finished up.

      Thanks, Barbie. So glad you enjoyed it. And yes! Metal is almost always quite dark, with the highlights very bright.

    Beautiful painting, Sarah! The problem I would have done was to make the napkin color exactly what it is. The color you chose is so exciting!!!!

      Oh thank you! Yes, color matching is not as important as value matching. I want to get the color in the ballpark, of course - otherwise I would just use a different colored napkin in the setup. But it really takes the pressure off of color mixing when I focus more on giving the impression of the color rather than strictly matching it to the object. ⭐️

      @@SarahSedwick and that's why you're an amazing successful artist, Sarah! I'm going to force myself to do that in my next painting. ❤️

    Hi Sarah! I am a Year 12 A level student currently doing a personal investigation in art and I am doing artist research on your paintings and I wanted to know more about your process and what techniques and paints you use as I really like the way your paintings looks and how simple yet intricate they are. It would be an honor if you could tell me more about your process of how you paint as I would find it extremely helpful for my investigation 😊 Thank you!

      I also wanted to add that i have a tendency to want to add many details and like to blend all my colours together but I feel like that defeats the purpose of that “blocky” effect that I really like seeing from your art, do you have any advice on how I can prevent myself from doing this?

      @@jnnwiak Hi! I really recommend my online video called "Introduction to Oil Painting" for answers to all these questions, especially techniques for how to paint more loosely and less "blendy!" Here is a link: karabullockart.com/product/itop/

    Sarah, what kind air cleaner system do you have?

    • @SarahSedwick
      @SarahSedwick  4 месяца назад +1

      I leave a window cracked, even in winter, and I have a bluair purifier that I keep running all the time and change the filter religiously. I also take the garbage out a LOT. Thanks for asking! 😊
