We are camping just below the dam at Paseo del Rio and this video is really helpful to better understand the fauna we have seen and hope to see as well as the history of the dam and reservoir. Thank you Shela and Tony!

Hi Terry and Terri! You will not be disappointed with the milder winters that we have in southern NM. Even though night time temps can get below freezing, our daytime temps are typically mild with very little to no snow. Thank you for watching.

Great video production as well as still shots, Tony! And fantastic narration, Shela! As having done voiceover/narration myself I can appreciate it!

Great video. It's really sad to see how the low the water is. I'm 36 and used to go to this lake almost every summer weekend for years when I was a kid. Back then the lake was at full capacity. I've caught countless white and black bass out of there, as well as a 18lb striped bass around McRae Canyon when I was around 10. It took me about an hour to pull it in the boat without my parents help, other than netting it and actually getting it in the boat. I have so many memories from EB and from Caballo, as well as the Rio Grande in general. It's so heartbreaking to know that in a few months it will be at 2% water capacity. I lived in El Paso at the time, and now I live in Phoenix, and we are suffering the same fate with Lake Mead. I really hope we get one of those 100 year storms in the southwest to get these lakes filled back up.

Hello Jay. We agree that it is such a shame that the water levels are extremely low at EB. Fortunately, northern New Mexico has received records amount of rain for the past week. Hopefully, the excess rainwater will flow down the Rio Grande and replenish the lake.

@@advennature950 That's great news to hear, now we just need some up here in Arizona.

Are there hiking trails? If so, do you know how many miles. Do they allow mountain biking on them? Thanks!

The Luchini Trail begins at Ridge Road and ends at South Monticello campground. It is 11 miles each way and mountain bikes are allowed. Thank you for watching.
