    That anode wear might be stray current from the boat. I'd change those out (suoer eawsy on the hard of course), give yourselves another 6 months stress-free. If those anodes wear away much more, you'll start eating props.

    Nick, your mainsheet top block, needs to be same sheave width, but much larger diameter, to accommodate a Becket, underneath, that the sheet can terminate to, instead of the boom itself.
    Best wishes from Northern Canada.

    I just realized that the big thing that looks like an ice chest that is stowed neatly in the stern is your life raft. It looks like it is very sturdy and a well thought out placement by the builder.

    • @atomicsmith

      They talk a lot about life raft placement in their catamaran tours and reviews from a few years ago. I believe this was an option they specd from seawind. Their standard location is somewhere else…

    Ha, I was just typing about the rust again when you started to mention the follow up rust info, grinding dust is a vicious beast that is for sure.
    Have you considered stray current being the cause of the anodes disappearing so fast. I would say check your engine ones for sure. Sailing Wynns found that one out the hard way.

    • @krionic
      @krionic 12 часов назад

      the engines themselves do not have an anode. The anodes on the sail drive (which is bolted to the engine and its components subjected to salt water) are the anodes which protect the engine. There are 2 of them on each engine/saildrive. A cone on the propp and a collar on the sail drive forward of the prop. The wynns might have different situation since they have some strange engine/electric hybrid

    • @R1Kyle
      @R1Kyle 11 часов назад +3

      @@krionic Stray current is a big issue no matter what, it can come from alternators, battery systems, solar panels, electrical connections, etc, etc. The Wynns problem was not a result of their electric hybrid systems, it was an overlooked design fault. I work on a a lot of carbon fiber toys and it is a very real issue no matter what type of toy.
      I will summarize my views on the engine anodes in relation to your comment above.
      --> Hey Nick, you should check the anodes on your engines! 🤣

  • @Maximus-HK
    @Maximus-HK 2 часа назад

    The viewer who commented on the actual cause of the rust specks is quite right. This is exactly what I would expect to see if someone was grinding, steel/SS, and the flecks, the sparks, they burn themselves into the paint. This is not because of the boat being painted when it was dusty in the yard. It is hot spatter from a grinder. Good luck!

    Marinas are well known sources of stray current, from shore power and/or other boats. So much so, many warn people not to swim in them, there have been drownings. As for that chafing, what about a short length of small diameter fire hose around the line? Might last longer than tape.

    For the zinc rapid erosion, look at getting a galvanic isolator to separate the ground from the marina from the rest of the boat, or an isolation transformer to completely separate the connections. The galvanic isolator will be a lot cheaper and easier.

    Regarding the mainsheet: The routing is wrong. You need the dead end of the sheet to go to a becket on the upper block. Trying to run it past the block to the boom forces it to cross itself. The same is true of the run up to the forward block on the boom; the last upward run should exit the lower block on the forward side so it doesn’t cross the rest of the lines. Was that line removed by the shipping company?

    Hey Guys, you are preaching to the converted here, yes Turkiye is fantastic !
    With regards to the anodes on the sail drives, do you have an isolation transformer? If so your marina shore power will have no effect with regards to electrolysis and degradation of your anodes and ultimately your sail drive.
    Cheers

    Has RR2 got an isolation transformer or galvanic isolator on the shore power input to the boat.

    I guess the lesson is to never ship a boat unwrapped?...and I guess you need to make sure boat gets wrapped before anyone can damage it. The downside to wrapping is damage won't show always until wrap gets taken off but it will keep it protected from non-structural damage from grinding, sand, etc.

    Erosion of your anodes is most likely as a result of cathodic delamination…..there’s a “stray current” between two dissimilar metals somewhere on the boat. Seek and you will find - then fix!

My wife went there in college with four girlfriends and all but one of them were molested in some way or another during their 1.5 month stay.
