You said the absolute truth about our food. I would like to mention that my husbands cardiologist kept a giant bowl full of candy bars in his waiting room. His obese patients would take handfuls of them on their way out of his office. So disgusting.

People seem to care little about what they eat and what toxins there are in the environment. Some people on the other hand are growing organic veg and satying away from processed foods. Some are juicing fruits and veg to help heal themselves by getting greater quantities of the veg/fruit nutrients into their bodies. Some say yes do it others say no dont.

You speak the truth Dr. Sanjay we have to take full responsibility for our food choices and what we eat, the supermarkets don't have our best interests at heart, only profits, but we have a choice eat healthy or eat rubbish, food that is so full of preservatives it lasts for ages.

Dr. Gupta, can you please direct us as to whether we should be eating low carb, avoiding grains, being vegan, or which direction to actually go in? I’d be interested to know what your diet consists of. Would you be willing to do a “what I eat in a day” video? I know that’s a lot to ask, but I’d really love to make some changes based on what you do dietary-wise. Thank you for all of your incredible knowledge and direction.

When I was diagnosed as having angina and a slightly leaking mitral valve when I was 50, apart from the usual heart medication I was also given Omeprazole as they told me that you are always given an Omeprazole type drug if you are diagnosed with heart problems. At the time I had no problem with acid, however, I have now, I have IBS now as well.

Absolutely. Your health is your responsibility. Doctors don't care why you have high blood pressure only what pill they give you to combat it. People are lazy, it's easier to take a pill than to say, "I did this to myself, I created this problem!" I'm healthy at 74 because I said that 50 years ago. Eat organically, know where your food comes from, grow your own food if you can. Your life will change!

It is up to us using good common sense and listening to doctors like you that tell the truth. I dont have any diseases like diabetes, heart disease or high BP, but my gut is disturbed since I bloat after most meals and now I believe it's due to inflammation. I'm gonna dedicate myself to remedying that. Thank you for this and others of your amazing videos....Wow!

I have watched a few of your videos and I want to tell you how much I appreciate them. I know you are a cardiologist but I wish that you were my Doctor.
9 months ago I cut down my carbohydrates intake. I would describe my way of eating as predominantly ketogenic now. I eat A LOT of green veg with eggs, nuts, avocados and some meat. (Other things as well but too many to list obviously!) I love eating this way as I have noticed so many benefits- clear skin, anxiety greatly reduced, migraines reduced- also eating this way is really delicious and satisfying. I never feel deprived. Although I have lost weight it is not a "diet".
I firmly believe that our bodies are designed to function properly if they receive the right nutrients and are not constantly bombarded with chemicals and overly processed foods. (I try and buy organic as much as I can) We live in a toxic world. The sooner we stop putting faith in commercially made food to sustain us the better.
Thank you again for posting your videos. I have subscribed

I like this subject due to almost all of our ailments comes from the food we consume and how much of it. When I turned 60 I started eating almost nil carbs. I now feel better than I did when I was 25 and BP went from 170/110 ish to 150/90 ish, not that it ever bothered me in the first place thanks to you.

Great video, you make a lot of sense and I agree with pretty much everything you said. But, and this is a big but, what do you suggest as an alternative? If we cannot trust the big supermarkets such that even our 'healthy choices'; (such as carrots in your example) are actually healthy, where should we shop and what do we do? Unfortunately because of the convenience and price offered by the big supermarkets, many of the traditional High St greengrocers have been driven out of business. And are we even sure that they are not also using pesticides and fertilizers in much the same way?
I'm a believer, but unsure how to 'fix it' for myself and my family.

Very true. Our health is our responsibility. However seems its increasingly difficult to maintain it. After years of thinking how easy and convenient living has become because of all the fast and ready made foods that are available, I have increasingly realized that it's become more and more dangerous to my health. Back to home made food and evergreen tips from mother and elders is really the only way to go.

Hi Sanjay loved this, my pet heat is homogenized milk sold by the gallon as a health food, and protected by industry that provides it, the reason for homogenization is to extend the spoil time from 14 days ( pasteurized only milk) to 45-65 days for Homogenized-pasteurized milk, breaking up the globules in the milk making them smaller and can be absorbed in the wrong place and cause low lying inflammation and also release enzymes prematurely, whilst oster's hypothesis has been debunked, globule structure is a unique export system as is its distinct health properties in its original form, the understanding around milk globule is one of the least understood but one that is the most interfered with, anything that has its time to spoil extended by more than 30 days can no longer be called health or natural ..your thoughts?

I live in the U.S. and everything you said is certainly true here as well, perhaps even worse. There are a number of doctors here who also have youtube channels that discuss prevention, using actual scientific studies to support what they say. It is difficult to go against the entire system, but that is exactly what must be done. For example, not only is cheap, fast food favored, but drug companies are allowed to advertise directly to the population. Often the phrase "tell your doctor" is heard in the ad. This seems criminal to me. Thank you for your work.

Those of us that can afford to buy vegetables and meat are the lucky ones. The majority these days can't afford quality food. So how to rebalance the scales to help thess people? Better to buy a carrot from a supermarket than a white bread roll or pasta....but when the money isn't there people will buy "fillers". The whole system is against the weakest and the sickest in society. So much as I appreciate your talk, it wouod be great to follow this up with some proposed dietary solutions. Swap rice for cauliflower rice, swap pasta for spiralised vegtables, margarine with butter...

It’s all about money and pill pushing. My endocrinologist has been wanting to take out my thyroid for years for nodules that are benign, but I don’t want to. I want to try to shrink them somehow! I’ve read it can be done, but it’s hard to stick to no wheat, dairy etc. I used to be a medical transcriptionist and some of these poor patients were on 20 different meds. One medication to cover the side effects of another. One of my docs said there’s a point where you aren’t sure what’s causing what anymore.

Totally agree..it's capitalism really, very hard to find a solution but awareness is a starting point. Also, there's some research out there on the large quantities of meat we eat and the damage it does. An obvious indicator of health of a society some suggest is teeth. If you comepare pre western societies to ours their oral health is much better. A few large culprits of our problem is sugar/fructose and weat...there are pretty powerful industries behind these products...education is the first thing i guess
