Since retiring and spending most of my time at home, I never use more than a Gig of data every month, but I do spend more time on voice than I expected. I'm a single user, so a custom Tello plan seems like a very good deal.
The problem is when I tested it out in my city the data connection was very spotty I was in a downtown area so there should be no reason to lose connection yet I did a few times very a annoying
Could you explain the data speed a little bit better? I know you mentioned the unlimited plan has 35 gb of high speed data, do the 1gb-5gb plans share the same data speed? Also when you mentioned the speed was slightly slower than you were used to, how slow was it in terms of speed or watching a youtube video or using the internet or some other metric?
Two questions. 1: so is the $25/mo including taxes & fees? And 2: you said it doesn't matter the data plan but it gets throttled to 2g speeds once you reach your limit correct? - I have cricket and pay $35/mo auto pay, but if I can save a few more bucks I'm all for it. Thanks!
In my area, taxes are $1.50, bringing the total to $26.50 - if you go over the 35 GB data, you get throttled to 2G speed (painfully slow) and it's completely worthless. With T-Mobile, you'll get throttled to 3G which is not horrible.

Cricket had a similar offer but they won't let me keep my number, and their taxes and fees are included .(even though I've been with them for ten years). So I switched to Tello so I can save my number and money. So far so good. Also Tello had the WiFi hotspot and unlimited data and 60+ countries. So worth the extra few bucks. I've never gone over 10gb of data and gps is the only thing thing I'm worried about staying active if I go over.
I just ran across this a few hours ago. This service is suppose to be 5G. I am wondering if you have a 5G phone and does it connect to the 5G or LTE 4G, etc.. On my phone to see the 5G I had to disable the wireless to see it. I'm just curious if this connect to 5G.. Thanks in advance..
Good question….2G refers to the second generation of mobile network technology, which typically provides data speeds in the range of tens to hundreds of kilobits per second (kbps). It's not common to measure 2G speeds in megabits per second (Mbps) as they are usually much slower than that.
@TheModestWallet deprioritzed data. In congested areas you may experience slower speeds. As opposed to being completely useless 2g. Visible does this on 25 month tier but I've never had unusable data. I use alot. Like 100s when I am not around wifi range. Often just leaving wifi off. 5 years or so on visible and 25 month all in monthly I get unlimited Hotspot and calls as well as data. 5g 4g ... Just saying it's finally been a company that truly requires no looking at your data use for being capped. It's how unlimited should be. Thanks.
As far as I know, the data only gets used when connected to the internet and are not on WIFI. So simply use the phone as a phone to call or text and leave the internet stuff for when you're home . You could go with no data at all and still use all the features of your phone. This is true with any cell phone with any cell plan unless your wifi is part of your bill. Most people who aren't student can easily get by without internet when they aren't home, so why people feel the need to have so much data is beyond me unless they are a student or maybe they have a job that requires it. If your job requires it, your employer should be paying for the data, not you.

Definitely seems to make sense. And since you are home a lot, you can use wifi assuming you have that.

if you travel outside the US, can you still receive bank SMS even if roaming is turned off?
Wifi calling/texting works fine for authentication.
