    After a two-year hiatus I needed a quick refresher before going to a friend's house to play. This was just what I needed!

    I just ordered this game for my 60th birthday 🎮 🎂 I also ordered the "Firefly" book by Joss Whedon .... The developers for the Firefly Online mobile game was abandoned so figured I would buy the board game to get my "Serenity" fix ❤ 🎥

    Thanks for this. It's always a great refresher. Now I know there's the disclaimer... but there's a mistake at 4:50 and it irritates me, lol.
    Your crew expects their cut of the pay, whether they worked the job or not. ;)

    My Jayne cards just says "Public Relations: May carry 3 gear".
    Is your copy newer? Was there an update I didn't know about when I bought my first printing? Your copyright says 2013, mine doesn't have a copy right date. Are there other "updated" cards? Couldn't find an answer on BGG.

      I found the answer. In case anyone else has the same issue, during the "pre-release" in 2013, there were 5 promo cards. Exact same as the ones in the game you can buy off the shelves since 2014, but with the extra "Big Damn Heroes" ability. It's just Mal, Wash, Zoe, Jayne, and Kaylee and the ability is the same on all 5 cards.
      If you wanna buy and exchange the cards in your set, you can buy all 5 at this link:

    What does it mean when they say that you have to select a team to solve your tasks? l use it everyone always because I always need it ...

      In most cases you'll want to bring everybody along to make use of their skills. But remember, if something goes wrong on the mission, your crewmembers could be at risk of being disgruntled or killed. Anyone who stays behind is safe from potential negative effects. Hope this helps!

    how do you win?

    • @scotsbillhicks

      There are several story cards with different victory conditions. The most basic one gives victory to whoever makes $12,000. There are others that require you to become Solid with all the Contacts. That can be tricky because one of the Contacts is Niska. The jobs you work for him are very risky, (though very rewarding), and if you Botch the job not only do get a Warrant issued Niska will also kill one of your crew. Typically you have to either do one of his jobs while you have no crew, or roam the ‘Verse assembling a crew and equipment to complete his job. Firefly seasoned with a dash of Oceans 11.
      The greatest distraction is that anyone interested in playing this game can succumb to the joy of just roaming around the ‘Verse. With the expansions you have in essence Elite: the board game. You can be a merc, a thief, a pirate, a bounty hunter, a scrapper, or just run cargo and passengers.

    This game is so absurdly overcomplicated and has WAY WAAAAAAY too many decks on the table when playing... Each player's turn takes absolutely forever and everyone is trying to do their own thing meaning that no-one is really paying attention to each players jobs...
    The game feels as though it was designed to be videogame and not a boardgame - your ship has an inventory, jobs, cargo, a stash, and tokens to denote whether or not you are wanted, as well as tokens for each crew member to show whether or not they are disgruntled, that's a massive footprint just for each player, let alone all the decks and discard piles.
    Each ship upgrade, crewman and their equipment affects how a job can play out.... but when you have to spend time counting up how many of each little gun icon you have and whether you need to roll a 6 or not it drags each persons turn to a screeching halt.
    There a good and bad things about this game... but it could really do with simplifying for quicker play sessions.

      It's not that complex relative to other games, especially not relative to some heavier Euro games. But this is clearly what's called an "Ameritrash" game and with that it attracts a certain audience that isn't too familiar with heaver board game and as such it comes of as more complex than it actually is.

    • @teflonravager
      @teflonravager 4 года назад +1

      @@SwedishNeo Yeah, after not playing it for a few years but playing other complex games looking back on this one now it seems quite reasonable. I have literally all the stuff GF9 made for it (except the mat) so I'll probably try a game on TTS as that will at least get rid of the set up and tear down times, which could add 30mins or more to the playtime.

    • @gricher5321
      @gricher5321 3 года назад +3

      @@SwedishNeo I generally dislike media-themed games but I found this game to be legit -- and with only 2 actions per turn, turns go quite quickly. It's a fast learn for anyone who is a board game regular -- familiar goals and mechanics.
