cool! could you do another video in which you stack ocd into rat and vice versa? i've got two clones of them and i'd love to see how the originals behave :)
The appeal for both is the bed of fuzzy that the note or chord is sitting in. With the OCD the fuzzy is tighter and more defined. With the Cat it is wider and loser. The note and chord definition is more clear with the OCD in contrast to the fuzz that surrounds it.
Actually, these are two completely different pedals that fall into two separate categories- one is a soft clipping, transparent overdrive used to play like classic rock, blues, etc. (OCD)- while the other is a hard clipping distortion pedal used to play mostly rock, heavy metal, alternative, etc. (Proco Rat 2). They really shouldn't be compared to one another at all- makes no sense.
Abusing the RAT does nothing for this example. With the RAT, the volume goes down with each increase the same after 1/2 distortion or it will drown out. You can't get any better range than clean to drowned out.
I have both and I can say that the OCD is very awesome as a boost o light drive while the RAT is a very wild disto , they both are good but different ✌️
Woah- dude, you're comparing a hard clipping distortion pedal (the Rat 2) with a soft clipping, transparent overdrive (the OCD) - they're nothing alike, apples and oranges. That said, some ppl will run an overdrive like the OCD into a distortion pedal like the Rat- to get more gain and a midrange boost which helps you cut through the mix for solo work.
I think the OCD is soft clipping, transparent- but I may be wrong. There are so many ODs on the market nowadays it's hard to remember the topology of each one. Either way- unless you're just trying to show a beginner the difference between the two styles of effect- a comparison doesn't make a lot of sense imo.

@@stoneysdead689 comparison videos are awesome for different products. Helps consumers decide which one is best for them.

Well said.
thank you for this!!
Very cool! I like both of them. There's a clear winner for you both!
rat gain at 11, ocd gain at 1 thats my setting, just add tubescreamer in front to add fun.
The RAT still rules!
... But I like the OCD too.
Chalk and cheese.
супер!
There are diferentes
Bias fx and thats it

Isn't the OCD hard-clipping?

OCD is a hard clipping pedal, that’s why both sound “similar” when you crank the gain…
Sometimes ppl demo two different types to compare which one you like more vs a comparison of copies of eachother.. I personally appreciate this.
But the OCD is a hard clipper which is allegedly based on the rat circuit... So makes complete sense doesn't it?
