@@CheetahRepairServices so I just went to my mechanic today. My cascadia 18 is at 948k miles and he suggests that there is no need to replace the quantity valve as of right now. He says it doesn’t affect the performance of the truck and since my truck is pretty high on mileage, he tells me just wait till the truck throws codes to replace the fuel pump. And when replacing the fuel pump, it comes with a new quantity valve. What’s your take on that? Need a second opinion
I'm not sure why your mechanic is saying that. To be honest, it seems very strange to me. It does affect performance. First of all, it leads to poor fuel economy, starting issues later on, and overall, there’s nothing good about it. With his logic, there’s no need to fix anything at all and just wait until the engine falls apart.
Even my rpm surge at idle but not all the time, how long can I keep going till I replace it with the new valve?
I’ve seen people driving like that for a while.

how much for the part? and do you have to drain the fuel out before install the new valve?
From freightliner dealer OEM $900+. You don’t have to drain fuel. A little bit will come out when you remove fuel lines but not much.
