Lol…each of you state ‘not blue at all’, then Rachael opens her mouth for the next bite revealing a blue tongue. Love you guys, you bring a smile to my face every time
For pancakes, it's so much easier to make a ton all at once, let them cool to room temperature, and then stack them and put them in freezer bags. Then take out however many you want and defrost them/heat them up in the microwave or toaster, like you do with frozen waffles. They last really well and taste just as good. And then it's super easy and quick to feed everyone pancakes another day.
It helped out so much during school days to just pop a couple frozen pancakes or waffles in the toaster or microwave. Whenever we make pancakes and waffles we make extra to do this. Pretty sure I will be doing this forever.
@@karen1nicola You don't even necessarily need to let them cool that much. It'll just cause a little ice to form on them. But they'll still heat up fine in the microwave.
I think for the jolly ranchers bubbles, you need to melt them in a bowl so that you get enough on the end of the straw to make bubbles, it works like a charm
For pancakes, with just the two of us now, I still make a large batch of pancakes & freeze them. Cook ALL the pancakes, lay wax or parchment paper between, then freeze. pop out however many you want at a later date & either microwave or toast them. They're yummy & quick.
I’ve heard that from so many people but I always find it super weird because for like the past two years I’ve always snapped my Popsicles like that and it’s worked fine so I’m not really sure if it has to do with like the specific type you get or anything like that but it’s interesting.
There’s two secrets - one, to have it solid, and two, break it with the seams where you separate them up. The smooth side will just bend. I use it all the time. I don’t always have clean scissors at work, so I’d rather break them to avoid any grossness.
💜🥰🤩🤗 I hit like at around 4 sec. mark when I heard Rach say "ugh, It's like swamp water..here we go!" - With an opening like that, you know it's going to be a good time!
emmy made in Japan used a heat gun on the jolly ranchers First softening it so straw would insert and them softening the candy over the heat gun until it was just soft enough to blow. She got big bubbles that way The candy may have gotten to hot in the microwave.
Takis and pickle juice = hangover food. We used to make pancakes every Sunday in big batches and freeze them after cooking for the rest of the week. It stays fluffier
A few years back I made small roses out of the Jolly ranchers by melting them I gave them to my kids for valentines Day present they loved them.. Glad your doing better with that nasty fall you had thanks for the videos love them alot
Rachel I had a thought while watching this video, have you've seen Ann Reardons yt channel How to Cook That? She's really good at explaining why things do what they do(particularly with baking) n has a video on frosting cakes w buttercream. I think you do a great job but figured Id reccmnd it in case you'd find it helpful. Thanks for another great video! They always brighten my day. ☺ Oh btw hack my hubby taught me w the freezie pops, use the handle part of the scissors to crush up the pop before opening its like a snow cone so good! 🍧
I make the easy swiss meringue buttercream all the time! You must use pasteurized egg whites. I've never had any problem with that icing. For the pancakes, I freeze the extra pancakes and heat them up in the microwave when I want to eat pancakes another day.
The principle behind adding purple to make your frosting whiter is the same as adding bluing to the last rinse in a load of white laundry. One way to get a final smooth look to your frosting is to most it with water before your final smoothing.
I like that Sugargeek hack because it is just adding butter to a royal icing base. I will have to try it. She might be also just having us make an Italian butter cream.
The icing seems like a roundabout way to do a Swiss or Italian merengue buttercream. It would be a lot easier to just make one of those instead of this “hack” lol
The freezie hack does work - at least with the longer Mr. Freeze freezies. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. It probably has something to do with them being longer but it does work! I promise lol
I saw a vid, not from ticktok, of someone asking how ppl open freezies and demonstrating the different ways. They've obviously never broken them before because they were totally shocked that it worked.
Cold canned pear halves, cheddar cheese, butter croutons and ranch dressing but it HAS to be dressing that you make with the Hidden Valley Ranch packets. It sounds nasty but it is DELICIOUS!!! I have been eating it since I was a little kid and everyone I have gotten to try it loves it!
When rachel says i dont see puting something crunchy in to something wet hahahah for sure she hasn't tried churros locos o tostilocos from mexico 😅, we also put lime, hot sauce and chamoy to almost every kind of chip they usually get soft 😅
Cake frosting tip….when you are ready to make it smooth dip the spatula in water and then smooth it. Keeps frosting from sticking to spatula and allows it to glide over and smooth it
I wonder if that pancake hack would work well with any other batter kinda things ? Seems like a cool idea, would love to see ya get experimental with it ~
So first off Chris your shirt is everything!!! Secondly, the freezy pop hack it works with the jumbo ones we used to do it as kids and they have to be SOLID. Also umm do you not dunk cookies in milk? So sad?!?! Lol
For pancakes my husband and I like to make the batter put it in muffin tins and bake it! That way nothing burns and we can all do a fun activity while they cook. Also- super good texture from baking them
The difference in the fresh vs frozen pancake batter hack is that freshly made batter gets an opportunity to rise naturally, which leaves for a fluffier pancake, while the frozen one cooks as it defrosts, so not as fluffy. Better results may come from allowing the batter 15-30 minutes to rest prior to freezing.
You should try making kool-aid pickles! The Taki jack reminded me of that for some reason. You get dill pickles, dump the juice into a bowl, add a pack of kool-aid and sugar, and fill the jar back up with the juice. Then you let it sit in the fridge for 5-7 days... And viola... Kool-aid pickles!!! I recommend using tropical punch kool-aid. That's the best flavor in my opinion. I hope you try it!!!
“I can’t understand dipping something dry and crispy into something wet and then eating it!” Me:soooooooo you’ve never eaten a pre-chewed chip or biscuit from your child then!?- lucky you!😩🧐😂
My husband said he liked Christopher’s shirt when we saw one of your videos from a long time ago. We are expecting our first baby next month, so for a Father’s Day gift, I found that SAME shirt online and a matching baby onsie to go with a Very Hungry Caterpillar book. He can’t wait to match our baby! I wasn’t able to find the video with Christopher’s shirt after getting the Father’s Day Gift, so it was really cool that only a month after gifting it to my husband, you posted a video with him wearing that shirt. For the freeze pop hack, I found that it works best with freeze pops that are more firm when frozen. The softer it is the harder chance you’ll have breaking it in half. :)
The bubbles in your icing are part recipe but also part technique. The better you get at icing a cake the less bubbles you’ll have. Using a turn table to spin a cake fast as you hold a spatula level on the top will crest a smooth top. Heating the spatula is your best bet as an amateur cake decorator
I think the frozen pancake cubes would be good for getting a few pancakes cooking while you make batter for the rest of the pancakes, to start feeding the littles sooner :)
When Chris said the pancakes would work for a small family, I thought he was making a dad joke about literal mini humans would like the pancakes because they would be normal size to them lol
Large family pancake hack.... sheetpan pancakes. Make your batter, pour it all on a sheet pan (one with a lip like 1/2 inch) top with your favorite toppings... fruit or chocolate chips, then bake at 350 for 15 mins. Slice and serve. Everyone's pancakes are done at the same time. Bonus hack! Use a pizza cutter to cut squares or smaller bites for small children. Win 🏆 win 🏆
For buttercream, you just have to put the metal bowl in hot water and the butter will melt, much less complicated than putting it in the microwave. And if you would have continued to beat your mixture without reheating it in the microwave or hot water, your buttercream would have become smooth. 😉 What can help you cream your cake is to put your cake in the freezer before creaming it.
My (limited) understanding is that, when icing a cake, especially crumb coat but top coat too, to pile a lot of the frosting on top with the understanding that it’s easier to remove frosting then add frosting, and then smooth it along the top moving from the center and down the sides, while not lifting up the spatula. Every time you lift up the spatula and put it back down you’re potentially creating air pockets that then stay in the frosting. So if you’re keeping at least one edge of the spatula on the frosting as you smooth out words and then down the sides your pushing air bubbles to the edge to pop rather than introducing new ones.
I’m not done watching the video yet, but you got different blue takis than the ones they tried. Theirs were Blue Flame but yours were Blue Heat and despite being red, they turn your tongue blue haha
The icing you’re making here is a variation of a Swiss buttercream. Normally, you would keep whipping until it amalgamates. It may feel like it’s separating at that point, but it’s just because the fat from the butter takes a while to be incorporated in the egg protein. No need to take any out, or do anything excessive. It’s basically indestructible so don’t worry about over whipping. After a couple more minutes the buttercream will come together into a flawless, smooth mass. Also, you can use just regular sugar. The powdered sugar is completely unnecessary. It doesn’t actually make anything easier. Regular sugar will dissolve just was well. 😊
Wrong Takis tho. Blue takis are blue. Looks like u got the buffalo ones or something. BUT I LOVE WHEN CHRISTOPHER JOINS UR VIDEOS! HE IS THE DEFINITION OF PARTY SHIRT!! LOL Awesome job to both of u!!!
Blue heat Takis are absolutely 100% blue! Pretty sure you got a different kind. The limited edition blue flame ones aren’t the same! The blue heat are my daughters fave, and I also personally can’t tell the difference between those and the original, honestly. 🤷🏼♀️🤣
I think if your favorite color is Blue, like me I'm kinda obsessed with it, then they taste better 😆😆 But truly I think they're more lemony, but I just really LOVE the color Lol
You got the blue flame Takis, which are bbq flavor (which I want to try). Blue heat are the spicy ones that are actually blue. No way that blue dye is good for you😬 but I LOVE them🫣
I think it was whatever brand she has, when Chris took a bite, he was grossed out and she said stevia... So those freezies were definitely not the Mr. Freeze or any regular freezies. I think the stevia and other ingredients in them make it freeze weird.
Regarding the frosting, even after using the paddle you should also do some mixing by hand right before using. Its gonna have some little air bubbles. But if you also fill your KA bowl (probaby double the amount you did) it creates a better seal from getting the bubbles. Idk if you have seen "Bake my Day Mimo" channel but if you notice when she makes hers even in short videos its always full nearly to the top. She also decorates/ creates a bunch of cakes each week. But a fuller KA bowl does create a less bubble/smoother buttercream. I had tried doing what you did then tried it with my bowl full and it changed the outcome!! Also the brown (real) vanilla VS clear vanilla can make the greyish color too.. Or it could have been a combo of the purple you used and the vanilla. 🤷
With the Jolly Rancher “bubbles” you have to get a lot of it on the end of the straw and it works. It’s so hot and sticky though and you have to work fast.
Lol…each of you state ‘not blue at all’, then Rachael opens her mouth for the next bite revealing a blue tongue. Love you guys, you bring a smile to my face every time
It thought it was from the ice pop because she ate the green key lime one. But I laughed at that too.
@@yuliyazar The blue flame ones are red, but leave any wetness like fingers or mouth blue
Fr, I was so confused, the blue ones are extremely blue, I've had them a bunch of times and the powder is soooo blue
@@GreiH this is a different kinda colour changing one, barbecue flavoured
How didn’t they notice that dipping the Takis made them turn blue?

I believe it's not working because it hardens the moment it touches the metal straw try paper or plastic 🤔

Oh good idea! I was also thinking maybe not a metal straw as it may cool the melted candy too quick.

The frosting isn't really a hack- It's an Italian meringue

The Italian meringue is like pouring the sugar sirop in to the beaten whites? It doesn't have butter, at list is how I remember
