  • Raise your hand if you've noticed an uptick in targeted ads from companies claiming to "fix your ADHD." ✋ Have you noticed any red flags when you see these ads?
    For the past two years - until very recently - I worked in the organic content marketing department for an ADHD management app, and I gained a lot of insight and knowledge into how businesses use advertising and media to attract and target ADHD audiences. My intention isn't to shame all advertisers, but to shed light on predatory people and companies trying to take advantage of ADHDers simply because we're looking for help.
    So I decided to start dissecting ads that I personally come across while scrolling social media, and today's video is focused on one particular Facebook page: Productivity Knowhow (or is it Wisey?), a company claiming to be the ADHD productivity solution. Spoiler alert: Wisey doesn't quite hit the mark. It's actually not even a real app.
    In this video, I react to their initial ad, take the "free 1 minute ADHD assessment" quiz they linked to the ad, and review their Facebook page, all while pointing out red flags and sharing tips for how to stay aware of what tactics are being used to get you to spend money.
    At the end, I give a final rating of the company, their quiz, and their app, and a summary of what I found concerning. Please reach out if you have a request for ADHD-targeted ads to react to!
    📺 Watch the full video now for an eye-opening critique and join the conversation. Hit like, subscribe, and share - together, we expose the realities of ADHD-targeted ads. 🚀 #WiseyExposed #ADHDAwareness #WhatInTheADHD #Badvertisements #ADHDquiz

    One of the most insidious aspects of this is that people with ADHD have a more difficult time controlling their impulses, therefore the predatory nature of this type of marketing is very deliberate it seems.

    I just took that quiz, definitely don't have an ADHD and they told me I had "very very high ADHD". I have no trouble with focus whatsoever. They are preying on people. This is awful.

    "ADHD is a depression response" I'm pretty sure the other way round is true - untreated, unhandled ADHD can be a cause for depression. It sure was for me when I failed my Bachelor thesis the first time around and wasn't sure what to do now.
    And afaik, depression can come with issues of unfocusedness and inattentiveness and concentration and memory issues, many of which can look a lot like ADHD symptoms, but that is also a different beast than ADHD, and cause and treatment are different.

    Wow I took the test and was super excited that there’s a professional group of people that will help me on every issue I have because of ADHD. Then I saw “try it for one month” for free. Yeah and because I have ADHD I won’t remember that I gave my credit card information and then I pay for an entire year because I don’t check my bank statements or check my emails for subscriptions. 😅 oh forgot to say that I really like your channel Sidni.

      It’s not even free, it says free but then really small it says it’s usually 1.11/day but the first month is 0.69 /day (aka about $20.7 PER MONTH or normally about 33.30 per month) as soon as I saw that I was like lmao no thanks I don’t wanna be a part of the probably millions of the desperate for help adhders getting scammed 😭

    The biggest red flag for me was when they said they would CURE my ADHD in 4 weeks. I googled the guru in charge of their systems, albert douson, and he's not on the Internet. My 85 year old grandma and my dog are on the internet. 😮😅

      If a person was born in the last 100 years there is a very high chance you can find something about them online if you try hard enough so if you can't find anything that is a HUGE red flag

    Honey, I just took the SAME quiz. I decided to do some research when they started talking about crafting a plan, etc., which was a red banner to me.
    BTW: I answered EVERYTHING pretty much the opposite that you did, and I got the SAME EXACT SCORE: 19.45. All attributes match, except for "Self-esteem," which I scored LOW.
    Your video is incredibly insightful. Not just to de-bunk these scammy ADHD services, but blowing the lid off of how shady marketing is conducted online. Very good information; thanks for taking the time to put it together 🙏⭐️⚠️

    Some of the things actually do have legitimate reasons .. for example, the reason they need to know gender is because males and females present differently. (But I bet it makes no difference what you choose even if the test is real)
    I have also seen similarities between these ads with the questions and the graphic at the end about how you will be better by a certain date in the future. I don't know if they are different companies stealing stuff from each other, or if it is one company putting stuff out under different names.

    Worst thing I ever saw. Was someone going around saying that they identified as having ADHD
    As if the word deficit and disorder weren’t part of the title… As if you could play identity politics with a medical condition
    People think this shit is fun. This isn’t a game and it isn’t fun

    • @brendalg4
      @brendalg4 8 месяцев назад

      They might have said they identified with it because they haven't been formally diagnosed.
      But yes people are starting to say they have conditions when they really don't... Such as saying "that's my OCD" when they don't have OCD.

    I realised how bad there reviews are and also how in helpful wisely will be. It's just a money making business as ADHD is in vouge right now. I was about to pay for it. But the card didn't work thankfully. I hope they don't bombard be with emails as I know they will.

    While I expected the quiz results to be crap, I never thought they'd just use a raffle system or give the same one result to everyone.x)
    BTW I also sigh at the productivity / habit apps. It's not like there hasn't been plenty of those before. I mean they can work just fine (and I'm 100% happy for everyone who successfully uses them). I used Habitica for a while, and it was good and extremely simple. It's just that I always forget the app exists, so after about a week or so I forget to follow the routines anyway. And reminders do nothing when I'm hyperfocused (except make me angry, which is a problem in itself). Our Samsung washing machine plays a nice classical piece of music when it's finished, yet I still forget to take out the laundry (unless I can do it right at the moment).
    I wish they'd come up with a Pokemon Go type of game that spawns things for brushing my teeth and such. I do like giving myself reward stickers though - surprisingly much for a grumpy middle aged person. So I guess an option would be a line of tiny stickers.

    Wow. I just took that quiz and clicked nearly all the buttons because that’s what I really really feel like except for hyperactivity (I thought it was designed for me) and I got the exact same high score as you, but I nearly thought it was a real score! Wisey is fake. Sad world! I’m definitely going to watch more of your videos to find out more about ADHD. I was diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD as a child but I haven’t thought much about it since then.

  • @paulmerritt2484
    @paulmerritt2484 День назад

    I saw an add for Wisey and it has all kinds of false symptoms for ADHD. They call it a mental illness. They say rejection sensitivity dysphoria is a symptom. It is not. People can develop that with ADHD because of being misunderstood but it is not a symptom. I was diagnosed by a neurologist. ADHD is Autism. Is is part of the umbrella of ASD. I have none of the symptoms mentioned and I have extreme ADHD. I get distracted very easily as I am hypersensitive to stimuli. My brain is clear but very fast so I sometimes forget short term things that just happened as I take in so much information. Now brain chemistry with ADHD can cause depression in some but it does not happen in a nurturing environment. I suggest seeing a neurologist for diagnosis if you suspect you have it.

    Here bc I'm so pissed at these Wisey ads I've been seeing everywhere. This is disgusting. The things on these ads are like a personality quiz or horoscope, they make it so it looks like anyone can attribute any of their traits to some type of ADHD. What!? We ALL have adhd? I cheated on my husband, its not infidelity its ADHD? 🤦‍♀️
    Ive had an adhd diagnosis since 2002. This stuff is straight up offensive and should not be legal. Sending plenty of normal brains to the doctor for stimulants and all the ensuing problems from that. Yuck. Can we report them anywhere?

    I want to thank u for pointing this out. I plan to share with everyone and so should others watching this video. My reasning is that predatory marketing is getting better and better and with ai becoming more widely used we the 99% are in serious trouble! I am so glad i dont have children because this kind of shit is almost retro sci fi in that the 1% are trying to control us. I never fall for marketing like this but after seeing the wisley adhd add on RUclips I wholeheartedly felt the add was genuine and was ready to make the purchase, mind you i am having severe financial problems and cannot afford but suffer greatly from depression and adhd. Please 99%, we need to do something immediately. We need to come together. The only thing in my mind that will help us is to come together and boycott ALL unnecessary spending of ANYTHING not directly related to survival like food, clothes, etc. Sorry for my utopian rant, but i feel if something doesn't change soon we the 99% and all future offspring are screwed. I think many of us can only find happiness albeit short lived is by making purchases. These bastards have gone as far as scan data from Reddit to better understand human psychology and reasoning. Taking data like that and implementing with ai scares me to death!
