Hi Jamie 👋 I fished here last weekend and had around 30 carp in 5 hours just from fishing the margin on a single piece of corn. Biggest carp 14lb most around 8lb. I only decided to go after watching this video so thankyou and keep the videos coming👍
You give it a good shot better luck on the next one. River yare fished well hard today top weigh 27lb many of us myself included scraped around 3lb the general consensus was two weeks of cold rain and quite a lot of it knocked things back but it was great to be out with the gang on the banks again. Hopefully it will warm up soon. Onwards and upwards see you soon
@@CatchFishingChannel 120ish but really hard work apologies for not getting back sooner i now live out in the stix and only get a syg in places and time's LOL
Great video, you should Say your outlay costs and your prize winnings to ratio , ie if you go there and don’t win nothing what are you down ££ and obviously what we all want is when you win and. Are up ££££ cheers tight lines
Hi Bill, I've done that on other venues before but I'm not sure how it fits in with the rules on that fishery though so I didn't risk it. Is that something you do often mate?
CATCH Fishing Channel Hi yes i do. During the cast the weight flies up the line and you see it land well back from the feeder and helps pin down the line very well, and if you snap off it obviously drops off, so is safe. I generally use a 2 gram weight which seems to work well for me. Try it for yourself. Do the rules say you can’t use floating baits with the feeder? I think that sometimes the fish come to the splash of the feeder but won’t drop down to feed and then I will experiment with different hooklengths with buoyant or slow sinking baits and a very soft mix that comes out or off the feeder on impact. It doesn’t always work but when the fish want it they can rip the rod off the rest. I do try to think about my fishing and if conventional methods don’t produce I will experiment to see if I can find what the fish want. I don’t want to stare at a static tip! Regards Bill
Hi Jamie, just wondering how much you top anglers charge for coaching sessions..almost every top rank angler mentions coaching sessions during videos they do..sheffielder myself nr Crystal peaks..just found your vids during lockdown and hoping tips I've picked up improve my catch rate...tight lines 👍
Hi David, thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! All of the information is on the website so I'll put the link below for you. Great to hear from another Sheffield lad! www.catchfishingchannel.co.uk/STORE-AND-COACHING-BOOKINGS/
What landing net head do you use when your'e expecting bigger carp and maybe a few smaller fish, I like your landing net handle it looks extremely strong and rigid, I can understand your frustration seeing all those cruisers and not catching too many, can you not use guru xtra safe feeders they are elasticated but inline and free running?
I'm not sure if those feeders are allowed mate. It's very rare I fish there and I'm not sure how many of the rules have changed. I use the 55cm version for carp mate and the 4m power handle for all round carping and targeting bigger fish. Idiot question from me. If you're fishing into 2ft why submerge your rod tip vs elevating it? Wind? Are carp and skimmers so shy biting that you need the precision indication?
I've had a similar thing happen. Many years ago when I was, I think, 11 (30 years ago!), I was adjusting my float rubbers and dropped the trace into the water complete with hook and half a maggot, literally off the edge of the platform into a foot of water. It was a 2lb test trace I think, like a hairs width. About 2 minutes after dropping it in, my reel started to sing, the float whipped out of my fingers and the rod went straight into the water, standing up like a pole on the tip. I grabbed the butt of it, but only just, then about 20ft away up came this enormous carp. Probably not a monster, maybe 10lb or so, but it steamed away and broke off instantly. Never forgotten the experience. Hopefully the little hook rusted out and the trace fell away. I'm a crap fisherman but I reckon carp are very often found in the margins. The beardy chaps from the old TV show used to think so too! "A passion for angling" was it? What a lovely series that was.
I like how the rules say "No method feeder, minimum 12 inch hook length" in part just after start dipping keepnet and at 10:30 you see him loading up a method feeder with short hook length, breaking rules much ? Should have been disqualified

Good vid as ever Jamie unlucky not winning that sectio.

Hi Jamie, have you tried putting a free running Olivetti on the line? I do this and on some days can eliminate liners. Regards Bill

@@CatchFishingChannel thanks Jamie you're a star, I have a Preston absolute carp handle but it's floppy compared to yours and I'm not happy with it .
Oh right! I know which one you mean but I've never used it or seen it mate

Was that the xs slim you were using on the long line Jamie?
Great as always Jamie, what was the feeder with the blue bottom?
Thanks Vince! It's just a home-made one for feeding close in mate
Are there rules for what bait you can and can’t use?
Groundbait mix with pellets would maybe produce way more bream and carp on a 40 m line...
Yes I think so mate. One of the regular anglers there told me not to use groundbait as it attracted too many small skimmers!
@@CatchFishingChannel Ah, I see. Well, if pellets alone don't work for me, I usually give some other combo a try.
@@ocilobi I'd love to go back and give it another try mate, maybe next time :)
Had carp come right under my platform on moat pool mopping up ground bait I've dropped so wouldn't worry about them not coming down close to you
Yeah as soon as the match finished and the nets came out they were there haha

Thanks Tony mate! It was just nice to be sat in a t-shirt for a change!
Method ?? Saw no method feeders on the rules board shown earlier ....
They've only just started allowing it on that venue so I guess that board needs updating mate. It's never been allowed on there before mate
There was always way around it, banjo feeder, hybrid feeder, pellet feeder. Had to be clever.
How much were tickets ?
That’s a lot of equipment for some freshwater fish
;)
Thanks again Frank :)

Those rules were changed a few months ago and the rules board is out of date, I should have left that shot out. Apologies for leaving it in.
