- I've woken up in DOUGLAS in the Isle of Man this morning. After a very comfortable night and a delicious breakfast in the Welbeck Hotel, we head off down to the seafront for a stroll, to get a first look at Douglas Beach and some horse-drawn trams!

Such beautiful buildings overlooking the sea. I bet the winter storms are something to watch. Nothing nicer than sea/ocean air. I grew up with it and find it brings so many memories up. I also love looking for sea glass, agates and garnets. The water crashing over the wall is spectacular in storms. It's so nice to walk when the tide is out. I love beachcombing. Shells, sea glass and silver dollars.

I remember one trip where the IOM airport was closed due to very low cloud . We sat at Manchester all day and then suddenly we were off. The captain must have had a hot date as I only saw the ground 10 seconds before we touched down. We were the only aircraft that got in that day. Interesting fact 1. Rick Wakeman sat behind me on that flight. Interesting fact 2. His cousin, George Wakeman, was a good friend of mine at junior school.

Douglas in the 60s had a reasonable family holiday beach but after the harbour protections were built, the beach deteriorated

There is a clock like that on the corner of Benet St . In Cambridge heading down onto King's Parade in Cambridge, there arexalways tourists having their pictures with it. Douglas looks an amazing place to visit, glad you snd IB enjoyed yourselves.x

I'm finally playing catch up! Watching you while doing cleaning at work. I'm seeing things that i know the answers too because David told me all about it when HD visited. I believe the tartan on the carpet is Manx tartan.
We stayed in Douglas probably about 8 years ago now, I remember seeing lots of history of the place!
Looked a very windy day, easy to get splashed by those waves!
