    Really cool, ive read the 3 episodes of chapter one you have released of the comic, i like the classic fantasy vibes it has to it, but i do think the reason why zeemo is helping crystal should be explored more, something other than just "its the right thing to do" or something like that, also if youre ever planning on making more videos like this one, you say "um" and "uh" a lot, like nearly between every phrase, wish you the best.

    I think digital, largely, has a lot to do with style. Of course digital can replicate all manner of tools these days, but digital really shines when the work is detailed and you have deadlines. As a professional comic artist of 30 years, switching to digital completely changed my career. I was traditional for about the first 20 years I guess, but as someone who draws very tight, detailed and technical, that switch to digital was a complete game changer. I would argue, saved my career at that time.
    I too am starting the journey of a creator owned projects, and yes, still digital. ;) I guess I am like a reverse of yourself... all my sketches and planning is done traditional, all my finished work is digital.
    Not a plug for my channel, but you can see an example of the kind of work I do in the timelapse on my channel.
    Great video, love the work, I look forward to seeing the project develop. I'll be checking in for sure... :)

      Hey Neil thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! It's awesome to hear someone's take who does this at a professional level and has been doing this longer than me.
      You're right I kind of am the reverse of you :) I actually started learning on digital and only in the past year or so have switched to traditional at least for the inking/linework. I feel that I can express myself more effectively and that I myself am actually faster in regards to my own style... Which is definitely less tight detailed and technical :) Checked out your channel, love your work as well and will definitely be checking in on you too! Thanks!

    I like traditional and I also like digital traditional was costing a lot of money I don't know if it's cheaper to do comic books traditionally then animation man I had sales everywhere and I was like I'm going digital you still make a pretty cool looking comic book with digital you can draw it out then scan it in the picture

    Very nice! Did you get this template from somewhere or make it yourself? I love that it's letter sized so almost home printer friendly!

    • @zachmotart
      @zachmotart  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! I got this template from mixam! It’s a print on demand service that I’m planning on using once the comic is done to make a physical copy for myself (or copies depending on interest). If you go on their website and pick a printing format they give you a downloadable template with it

  • @ThePlKLE

    What page dimensions are recommended for traditional? Also are there standard margin sizes? The thing that stresses me out the most is understanding the logistics of page layout and format. I'm afraid I'll put in a lot of work and then it can't be printed right

    • @zachmotart
      @zachmotart  5 месяцев назад

      Hey! Yeah this is something that freaked me out too! I do not draw on the traditional 11x17 page size because I don't have a scanner that can scan a page that large. I use 8.5x11. There is a great website mixam.com/ that has page templates you can download. They also have a print on demand service!
      Definitely not something I would use if you're trying to get published by a big name like image, or dark horse or something like that, as I'm sure they have their own dimensions they use for their printing. For doing your own thing though its great!

    • @ThePlKLE
      @ThePlKLE 5 месяцев назад

      @zachmotart thank you very much for the reply. I'll definitely check out the link. I actually have one more question for you about your personal process. Do you draw in dialogue boxes manually or add them in with software? I apologize if you've already answered or shown this

  • @Positron001
    @Positron001 5 месяцев назад

    Looks great, I'll definitely read this as I'm a sucker for fantasy.
    (On a completely unrealated not, here's a self absorbed(?) plug-in, I'm trying to make a Illustrated Web Novel which is more or less a love letter to the time travel of Undertale, it’s Yellow "prequel," and Re:zero, as well as the starfish aliens of Blindsight (peter watts) The Three-Body series (sans the third book's sexism, it'll probably still have sexist aliens, but criticize it), and the Incubators from Magica Madoka.
    Basically the world it takes place on is an otaku hell like Ligunica from Re:Zero. The planet has tripple the gravity of Earth with a 60(ish)° tilt, so life there has to go dormant when the summers and winters become too extreme. Well most life, the two sophonts of the world and whatever they domesticated stay active year round due to their advanced technology and subterranean cities/O'Neil cylinders. Though both species still retain the ability to go dormant, which helps with Interstellar travel as they don't have ftl ships (this doesn't mean the ships are "slow" as they can move upwards of 70% light speed within a few Earth hours.)
    It's also of important note that the planet is in a P type binary system, with two stars of unequal mass, the larger of which is an A class star which has been kept "alive" by a perpetual motion machine with a radius of .5 AU but only 3 meters in hight and 40 cm in width. Said perpetual motion machine also looks like it's made from folded space, it's unclear what it's made from and by all intensive purposes should be called a "demiurge"

      Man don't worry about that, everyone when they're starting are not amazing artists. You shouldn't do or don't do something only thinking about if others will like it or not, in life you will always do mistake you and you must learn from them not be stopped by. Keep experimenting and practicing always trying to enjoy what are you doing👍

    • @zachmotart
      @zachmotart  5 месяцев назад +1

      Basically everything @andrebozzo4209 said. Dont worry about skill level. We all start somewhere the important thing is to start ❤️ skill will always follow as long as you keep going. Art is not a race its a journey.
