Thanks for another great video! You made a lot of excellent points and it was cool to see your coloring process. Looking forward to your art style video! 😊
fellow artist here. It's alright, take as much rest and break you need. i'm also working on a webcomic and i know the feeling of burnout and worries while doing what you love to do. I felt that before because I tend to worry or overthink too much on the plot and worldbuilding of my comic or how will the outcome will turnout, like am i gonna be happy or disappointed. which is why I don't know when to start my comic even by the opening introduction. but watching your old videos, it makes me feel alot better that you should not worry about the future and outcome of the product but more on the present, meaning the process of it. just enjoy the process and believe in yourself. But at the same time, take breaks and come back later. keep making your comic whether you get more or less readers/viewers. You did it because you enjoyed it and i will do the same for mine. Thanks and have a great day, Zach😁
Thanks for sharing that, and the kind words! Best of luck making your comic! ♥
I find your art style so interesting. I wonder if you wanna try other genres besides fantasy? I feel like 80s-90s dark scifi would be fun to see in your style
Thank you! I'll have to try that out for one of the videos 😊
Where’s the power pack that supposed to be on his back?
In the reference I was using it wasn't on his back! :) I know its supposed to be there though. In other screenshots of the game (particularly from cinematics) it looks like it sometimes sits lower on the back too. Below the shoulders. www.pinterest.com/pin/534028468331655593/
Dope sketch. Kinda satisfying watching you use your style to finish it all sped up. Keep up the great content 👍 In case no one has told you, God loves you unconditionally. You can read the New Testament to understand and learn more. I know God is real because before i almost ended things i asked God to help me if God was real. I ended up refraining from ending things and instead I fully committed to try and see if God was real and after 3 days of fasting, prayer, and reading the New Testament i was completely healed. My terrible addictions were taken away, my bad habits were gone, and my self hatred wasn't there anymore. I felt at peace for once. I hope you let God help you like how God did for me. God bless you. Have a nice day friend.
Nice work!! It reminds me of the illustrations in an old DragonLance novel. 😊
Thank you! 😄
hello, really nice drawing! what is the story behind the characters?
Thanks! No story for these ones in particular other than that they're looking for this orb on the rocks. Just two adventurers in a little scene together :)
AWESOME APPLE IS HERE
You’ve finally arrived <3
Amazing
Love ur art!
Amazing.
Excellent video! Very inspirational for new artists and gamers!
Thanks! :)
Thanks for another great video! Lots of sage advice and perspective, I appreciate you sharing. This piece turned out great! I love how the dragon blends in with the forest and how the knight is distinguished from his surroundings. Hope your art block has cleared up!! 😊
I don't know about "sage" advice but thank you! :) I think the art block has cleared up! Or is starting to
Personally I always considered making art to be a purely enjoyable thing. Even if the final work looks bad, I can always tell myself I will do better later, which I try to do next time.
I love it, artists are now rediscovering traditional art methods because we are all so done with feeding the AI machine
watercolor always looks great! sick video!
Love a good paint and chat man. Keep doing you, your stuff is great!
Dammit..... Ive been working two jobs and have slacked off from drawing. Been feeling guilty for a while making excuses. Thanks man.
Super neat bro!! Well done :)
Thanks! :)
I like it reminds me of a comic page from like fantastic four
Thank you!
I find drawing every day to be very important, if you are trying to be a real professional artist. Now not all of the old masters did it everyday, but they spents hours on their paintings when they did, some spending a exstream amount of time on one large painting, taking a break, then going to the next. Everyone is differant but the same thing everyone has is spending a lot of time on their art and treating it like a real job. Unless art is just your passion and not a job, then it can be treated differantly.
another great video!
Nice. What type of software did you use?
Thanks! I do all linework/lettering traditionally and color is done in Procreate
Thanks for the awesome video, and congrats, you're doing a fantastic job on these pages. Your drawings and storytelling are great, and I especially like your inks and colors. Keep up the great work because it's definitely an inspiration to so many others. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot! :)
Thanks for sharing, think I'll start mine...tomorrow 😅
The first page reminded me of a piece of advice that I once read in a book about making comics. It was somewhere along the lines of "don't make the character change direction from one panel to the next, as it could be visually confusing to some readers"; so if he's walking toward the right in the first panel, he shouldn't go to the left in the second, and then again to the right. I figured I'd share this with you. Wish I could remember the name of the book...
Hi! I'd be willing to bet the book was either Understanding Comics or Making Comics (both by Scott McCloud). Although I do think it's easier to get away with breaking the 180 rule with a comic than with a movie (where the rule started I think).
@@BenArildsen That's probably it, yeah.
I agree, the best thing any artist can do is to start. When making something, there's always the fear of whether it's good enough or what the people will think. It's important to remember that your first project is never your best, and mostly is not going to be that good, but atleast you tried. Now you have something to learn from, and every project from then onwards is going to be better than the last.
These videos do inspire me to continue working on my own comic. I haven't started any panels yet and really am still working on characters and the story (its only been about a year since I had the idea and the basic premise, story and characters have changed a lot.) I think a big thing for me is getting the srtstyle done, because i do try to have a death metal black and white art style for most of my random drawings but for the comic itself the artstyle is more inspired by Mike Mignola and Gris Grimly. Its a comedic dark fantasy comic based mostly on slavic mythology. The main characters are Hans, who is a tall & lanky deformed guy who wears a helmet at all times to hide his face, and 2 mushroom people named Weed & Twig. One is more relaxed 3 feet tall and the other is a bit crazy and about 6 inches tall. Anyway sorry if i went on too long, but thanks for making these videos. I checked out your comic on the webtoon page and it looks fun! Best of luck to you and your family
@@The_Dying_Rose Awesome to hear! Good luck with your comic :)
Ooh, looks great. Makes me want to continue working on my own projects :D
You should! :)
amazing work im so impressed by this!
yay im early to a video! i found your channel when you first introduced this comic, I started reading it and absolutely love it so far
Yeah I remember your pfp! :) Glad you’re enjoying it!
Really cool, ive read the 3 episodes of chapter one you have released of the comic, i like the classic fantasy vibes it has to it, but i do think the reason why zeemo is helping crystal should be explored more, something other than just "its the right thing to do" or something like that, also if youre ever planning on making more videos like this one, you say "um" and "uh" a lot, like nearly between every phrase, wish you the best.
Actually there's 18 quintillion planets in no man's sky.
Cool art 🔥 keep going
Page a week coloring? That's 3 years for 150 page book. Stay strong, man.
Very nice! Did you get this template from somewhere or make it yourself? I love that it's letter sized so almost home printer friendly!
Thanks! I got this template from mixam! It’s a print on demand service that I’m planning on using once the comic is done to make a physical copy for myself (or copies depending on interest). If you go on their website and pick a printing format they give you a downloadable template with it
RUclips recommended some of your videos to me, and I'm glad I decided to watch them. Great advice and an even greater mood you establish in each video. I also love working with ink, so your drawings are very inspiring! Fantastic work, brother. Keep it up!
Thanks, I appreciate it! :)
cool art ... but what side are you on in the gnome vs knights war ????
curious what you did at the end there that gave it that textured old animation look?
The color balance and noise tools in Procreate :)
As someone aspiring to create his own comics and illustrations this video felt like sitting down with a friend and hearing his mind about the creative process, Thanks!
I was always intrigued in making comics and I have done some however I only shared them with friends and I was still horrible at drawing however, I have gained experience 5 years later and now I can draw better so I will take this as sign to start again (Exuse the bad grammar if any and for the long essay)
I just read chapter one and I have to say that between the art and the story so far it's amazing...makes me want to re-do mine lol
what kind of markers are those???
They are Copic Ciao markers! :)
@@zachmotart thanks!
Thank you for these information! As a beginner I appreciate these type of videos, keep it up and much love to you!❤
I really appreciate the kind words! Same to you ❤
nice video, nice sketch!
Thanks!
I like the footage you took of your art, very classy, I dig it.
Thank you! :)
Well your channel banner gives some real elfquest vibes.
