I get the Campbell's loaded potato soup for my husband. Dollar Tree is the only place I've ever seen it so every time I go I grab 2-3 cans. Thank you for showing a lot of people's reality and also how to make some decent meals on the cheap.
Campbell's condensed soups were and still are a staple in American homes. Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, chicken noodle when I was sick, bean with ham on a cold day.....
Campbell's Bean with Bacon condensed soup is extra delicious and creamy if you make it with milk instead of water. My Mom made it this way when I was growing, so I never knew that people made it with water. The first time I made it with milk for my husband, he loved it and asked me why it was so good-- his Mom had always used water.
Yo haters in the comments, no one wants to eat dollar tree meals, it's a necessity thing, and despite some items that can be cheaper at the grocery store, not everyone has the time freedom to chase down sales or a ride there for that matter. You do what you have to sometimes
I went to dollar tree about a month ago, and they had Hearty Ham and Bean soup. It was like my childhood memory came back. NOT quite the butterbean and ham I had back in the day, but it was still very very good!
These are too. She's making the mistake so many people make. They sell small packages for slightly less than the full size grocery store versions. Shed spend less and get more at a walmart or Aldi.
Dollar Tree strategically places its stores in areas with fewer shopping options. While you might save money at a traditional grocery store, it's often much farther away. This distance means that even if you have transportation, you'd be spending extra time and gas money to get there. John Oliver has an excellent episode about this.
@stitchbritt I don't really think that's true because we have a Dollar Tree or some kind of dollar store at about 2 of them per mile all over the state. There are places where you can see one dollar store from the other. And they are always clustered around grocery stores.. There's an all the across the street from one of the dollar trees here. Another one is directly next to sign lots and across the street from a sharp shopper which is a discount grocery.
@@louisacapellbut, it is true. Perhaps not in your area. Many rural areas are 45 minutes to an hour or even more from a Walmart. Inner city areas rarely have access to traditional grocery stores, and many people don’t have transportation other than a bicycle, walking or taking the bus. Traveling to several traditional grocery stores to track down loss leaders isn’t an option. Believe it or not, thousands of people are living in motel rooms with tiny kitchenettes, that include a mini fridge with a tiny freezer & a microwave, maybe a coffee pot, and no where to store a lot of items.
I usually eat lower carbs and can score some deals at Dollar Tree like tuna, plain breakfast sausage (in the roll, not links), diet soda and sugar free drink mixes, skinny popcorn, frozen veggies.
It's so unacceptable that they're doing this in our country. Sometimes you can get a great value at the dollar store but you also have to be mindful what you are putting in your body. Many of those ingredients have extra things that your body doesn’t need or recognize. I know sometimes you can only buy what you can afford and you will be surprised that some dollar trees do have healthy foods in stock. It just takes a little longer shopping when you are reading the packaging. Happy shopping ❤

Do get the Campbells kitchen classic soups! Dollar tree sells four: loaded potato, beef with barley, chicken noodle, and ham with beans. all are stupendous and I don’t know of any other store that sells them. You can buy a case of 12 at a time and as of this time, they will ship to a close by store for free. We buy this all the time. Your store does not have to stock a particular brand and one can still order it to be shipped to a store near you
Some grocery stores do a 10 for $10 deal. Kroger still does, Acme/Shaws used to but I haven't seen it in a while. It can take some looking/planning, but always check out your weekly sales at the grocery stores, often times you can find items for under $1, especially if your dollar tree isn't food stocked like this one. My go to cheap meal is either rice/pasta can of diced tomatoes, bag of frozen veggies and whatever protein is on sale. It will make 4-6 servings about $2-$1.5 per serving. You could switch out the meat for beans to lower the cost even more.
Some day, you should try to remake the chili beef soup that campbels discontinued from dollar store ingredients. I would really love that! The beef and vegetables soup is ok, but it's better if you add less water to it.
Campbell’s beef and veg is a better “deal” than chicken noodle, tomato and cream of mushroom because those 3 always go on sale at the grocery store but the other flavours like beef and veg are $2-3 a can! Also you can cheaply extend it with water, and pot barley and extra veg (and a packet of beef oxo if you need to add more than an extra 1/2c water.
