Stephan, I thoroughly am enjoying your channel! I am learning about Orthodoxy thanks to my teenage son who went down the rabbit hole of Christian history. When he resurfaced, he said that the Orthodox Church is the true church. I firmly believe that. I was brought up as a Southern Baptist, and in 2019, I had a real thirst for more knowledge. (Blessed are those who thirst for they shall be filled.) It was shortly afterwards that my son asked me what happened to the Christians after the book of Acts. Embarrassed, I told him I didn't know. I am thankful for his inquisitive nature, and love of truth and history. I have been to a local Orthodox Church a few times, and really felt God’s presence there. My son is a catecheumin already. I hope to follow soon along with the rest of my family, and even my sisters and their families. God bless! ❤☦️
I am so thrilled to have found your channel. The timing could not be more perfect - I grew up Roman Catholic, I’ve been Protestant for the last 5 years, but I know now that all Protestant foundations have cracks in them and I’m yearning to learn more about the Church fathers. God bless you and your laboring for the Kingdom!

Very well done summary but there is the notable omission of the earlier schisms: the Church wasn't fully united for the first 1000 years as there were the schisms that caused the Oriental Orthodox and the Church of the East.
Yes I think there was some schisms of some orthodox going in differently directions. I have just done some research and that’s what I learned. I think he wanted to keep it brief and try to fit in what he could in a short video. But even with some of the divisions in orthodoxy it’s nothing like the split denomination of Protestantism that go on and on. Orthodoxy in general seems to be the closest and the purest practice of the faith that was practiced by the early Christians. But I have much to learn so I will stop at that..🙏🏽

There is a lot of confusion I notice among western Christians (particularly many (not all) Protestants) about what happened in Christianity in the fourth century, from tolerance to becoming the official religion. The toughest thing about the idea of becoming a Christian is trying to figure out which one to be. There is beauty and truth in all iterations. Some more than others lol. But in choosing one there is a cutting off from the well of others that seems to happen. I think this makes eastern Catholic Churches appealing, very eastern in its orthopraxy, but not cut of from the saints in the west post 1054ad. A bit more of a fullness there. The other tenable option seems to be Anglican, still high church, traditional, and stepped in the saints. But not under the Pope, and a lot of the errors of late Rome. And as such, can even read and benefit from the protestant “saints” ;) or reformers. Of course then, all of these cut one of from Charismatic liturgy. And the emphasis of faith not being intellectually, or a dead ritual, but wholly relational. But they all hate each other, and think the other is deceived and lost, and bound in heresy. So I, and I’m sure a lot of my fellow Nones, sit on the sideline. Unable to pick a team.
Christianity today is a complex landscape of traditions and choices. The truth is we were never meant to be on sidelines, and there were never meant to be 'teams'. We were meant to belong to The One True Apostolic Church. The aim today continues to be: find where that One True Church has been preserved and then join it. We can't avoid sinners/haters, I'm afraid they're in every tradition, and always have been. Continue to search and find The Church in its fullness. Once there, we DO NOT have to be closed off to things outside our tradition! I have, as an Orthodox Christian, found unbelievable value in a Protestant writer like C.S Lewis or George MacDonald, or in Catholics like Tolkien or Chesterton, and Catholic saints like Francis of Assisi or Maximilian Kolbe. The key to all of this is the person of Jesus Christ - to go where His teachings have been fully preserved, where His Church as continued, and where God can be fully worshipped in spirit and in truth, through all our senses, through our intellect, and through our spirit. Whether we find there people who are 'doing it right' or 'doing it wrong' is between them and God. We are made for an eternal home in Christ, not to be nomads, but to find Him. All I can say is, I see all this in the Eastern Orthodox Church. I pray your journey continues! You may have already done this, but my recommendation would be to visit an English-language Orthodox Church, attend a liturgy, and speak all your concerns to a priest afterwards. With all my heart, I encourage anyone to seek out the Orthodox Church and see what depths it has maintained for 2000 years
That's an awesome work But i really felt like left out from the story as an Ethiopian Orthodox member which is the Oriental and eraly church. I understand its a short video but still....

That’s interesting. I had no idea that the Orthodox Church has had so much continuity. In a good Protestant church the Pastor is held accountable by the elder board. I’m wondering if the orthodox patriarchs are accountable to each other, meaning co equal. The fact that Rome only has had one patriarch seems to explain all the abuses and current state of Roman Catholicism
You may enjoy the rest of our channel! We look at a lot of things that the Orthodox hold in continuity with the Early Church. The patriarchs don't work quite like the papacy. Apart from being accountable to each other (and often having disagreements) they are accountable to their bishops. An Orthodox patriarch is a high-ranking bishop, but is still a bishop. So when it comes to big meetings of bishops for instance, while the patriarch holds some influence, he has the same ultimate voting power as a newly-ordained bishop.

Hristos a înviat!
Out of curiosity brother, do you have a blessing from your Priest to run this channel? I am not asking this question in an attempt to cause strife or because I take issue with any of your content, I am simply curious.
Absolutely! Can't remember making a project without one! ☦ Also we had encouragement from several priests to start this channel.
@@Patristix That's awesome! God bless you brother.
Great information on topics often disregarded or overlooked by Protestant denominations. I'm glad to have my cursor stumble across your channel. However, no need for the distracting background music loop (yes, it's picky). I like showing short videos like this to adult Sunday schooler/Life Groups.
Thank you!
