I don't understand your placement of the device. If you are trying to keep them out of the dumpster, why wouldn't you put them right next to it , facing away from all sides? They aren't meant to just place, willy nilly and expect to clear 5 acres.
Well, you can see in the video that the placement was correct because the "critters" were filmed and not scared away by the device. I did put it next to the dumpster and it didn't work there either. Also, placing it at the dumpster limits the effective range to 90°, at least this way I could cover three of four sides. Point is, you can see the bear eating the trash totally oblivious to the device that was supposed to scare it way... as for the fox and the possum, come on, those are some pretty skittish critters to start with. Not trying to clear five acres... five feet would have been an improvement.
The bait / hunger trump the deterrent of light & sound. I only need this device to keep critters away from my shed
