Excellent !!
Thanks so much
Great to see someone else who saves there dripping from meat they have cooked. I have done this for years. It saves buying fat but more importantly it adds flavour.
It certainly does.

Thanks so much
I just found your channel and have been soaking up all of the wonderful information! It’s amazing how much peace of mind comes from living well within our means. Thank you!
Thank you
Thank you for sharing. 👋😊🐿
those pasties looked beautiful and delicious. and the corned beef bake also looked delicious. Great video, great advice. Thank you
Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for the meal ideas! We’ve still got tinned corned beef we need to use up.
Enjoy
Glad to find another use for corned beef. My mom used to put it in a sandwich spread. She used corned beef, pepper, finely shredded cabbage and mayonnaise to make it spreadable and served it on good rye or pumpernickel bread. Everyone loved it and it fed many for not much. Thanks for sharing your money saving tips and recipes!
Thanks for watching
Great fun, that you are demonstrating tasty ways to actually use those stockpiled foods! More, please!
Thank you.
Oh My👏 Nice recipes Jane!👍 You're such a great cook! I've never made pasties, but I'd like to try these. Everything you have made so far for this channel, look delicious! Your attention to details, bring such finesse to each dish. Beautiful,
these could easily be featured in Cook Books or Magazines. Like Better Homes+Gardens, Country Living,or Family Circle.
Thank you
Fantastic Jane! My mum used to make a dish that we saw on Blue Peter. We never knew the name of it so we called it Blue Peter special. It was a can of corned beef cubed, cubed potatoes, chunky cut onions, big tomatoes quartered, cheddar cheese cubed, a pint of milk, salt & pepper and whichever mix of herbs you like. Baked on a 180 deg oven covered for about 40 mins then uncovered for about 20. Serve with crusty bread to mop up the delish juices. It was a real fav in our home and I still make it for myself and it freezes well too. X
Proper grub
I'm I the only one who never eaten corned beef before? Have to try out your recipes. Looks delicious.
Thank you
You always make the most amazing pasties Jane
Thanks so much
We really enjoyed the layer bake. It was served with runner beans from the garden and potatoes from Aldi . Lasted 2 days just like yours. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe.
Thanks so much for your feedback
Never thought of corned beef with anything other than cabbage. Thank you for showing me more ways to use it. I'm vegan, so I won't get to enjoy that wonderful taste, but if I have visitors, I could make that stacked casserole that looks delightful! Thanks Jane!
You’re welcome
Same 😊
Now I am hungry for a pasty! Up north where we have our little cabin they have pasties in the grocery store, either to bake or already cooked. I serve the pasty with a side of creamy cucumbers. This time of year we get cucumbers from our garden. Our pasties tend to be drier than yours so the saucy cucumbers in sour cream and vinegar with sliced onions and pepper moisten them.
Are you near Michigan? Our “up north” is famous for its pasties.
@@marthaross6301 I’m in the U.P. Pasties are a staple. With gravy, not ketchup. 🤫
@@marthaross6301 No, Wisconsin, but not far from the UP.
Thanks for the demonstration.
Thanks for watching
I made some pasties with left over beef roast. They were divine!!!
I bet they were
I'm a vegan but the pasties sound good with baked beans onion and potatoes! All items I have on hand!
I was delighted to see we use the same pastry recipe. I've used it for 56 years. I always enjoy your video. Thank you
It’s lovely
Jane Thank you for sharing another amazing video. Here in America we make Corned Beef Hash with potatoes, sautéed onions and put on bread for breakfast. I've learned how to make more meals with Corned Beef. We normally don't eat it much because it's loaded with fat and a lot of salt plus it's over $4.00 a can here. You are right it is still cheaper than Ground Beef. Can't wait to try these recipes. 🌄
Thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much for the clear concise instructions, I will try to make your pastry today, making pastry has been a disaster in the past, more like concrete than pastry so I have avoided making it. You have filled me with some new confidence and I am ready to try again. Thank you x
Great something to make for wkd 🙏
Enjoy
I’m in Australia and we have and I love tinned corn beef too. Have had it all my life since I was a child. One of my favourite things to make is corned beef patties which are sort of like pancakes with shredded corned beef through them. We had these as a child when money was scarce.
Those are delicious
We call those corned beef fritters ❤️
Looking forward to this Jane, love corned beef x
Thanks for watching
Delicious, I make similar versions of both these dishes, corned beef is such a good storecupboard staple.
It is
Excellent use of corned beef. I have never ever thought of cooking with it. Thank you for this video.
You’re welcome
We are retirees in America 🇺🇸 on a fixed income. These recipes look so delicious! I have not used corned beef before. We gave something called SPAM here but I don't think it is the same. Going to try these recipes. The pasties look wonderful. Look forward to your cooking each Friday.
Corned beef is so versatile
Looks delicious!
Thanks so much
Yum!
You’re welcome
Hi from Minnesota.
Welcome
One our favourite quick meals is sliced corned beef, jacket potatoes and baked beans. If you don’t want to use a whole tin you can freeze the rest and when it defrosts you can’t tell the difference. Tip - put the tin of CB in the fridge for 24 hours and it’s easier to slice.
I love corned beef with chips and baked beans
I grew up eating corned beef in our mac and cheese. I loved it and still make it on occasion even though my husband finds it an odd combination 😂
That sounds hearty and tasty
I love seeing your fur babies at the end of your videos! Corned beef and pasties are two of my favorite foods, and I can't wait to make both of your recipes once the heat passes and I dare turn on the oven again. Thank you, Jane and Michael for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Yout recipes look so good. THANK YOU AGAIN.
Thank you
I save my drippings from the bottom of the roasting pan also. When I am making homemade broth I put the broth in the refrigerator and scrape off the fat from that also. All the fat goes into a container in the freezer, you have to make sure that you don't have any of the broth stuck to the underside, if you do you can heat it up again and let it boil off. I use the fat to make biscuits out of, it works for baking things. I am so jealous of people that have fresh veggies they are so expensive, when we can afford them they seem to go bad so quick. We are eating straight out of our pantry for now. Money is to tight for groceries this month. I have found that a lot of the recipes that call for milk work just as good with water. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching
Loved theese recepies.
Thanks
I’ve never bought tinned corned beef before but I did cut up and pressure can a raw corned beef brisket.
I can use my home canned corned beef to make both of those delicious looking meals.
I think the pasties would be good with some sautéed cabbage and carrots added to the corned beef, onions and potatoes. It would give you a portable St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinner. 😏
Thanks for sharing your recipes, I can’t wait to try them both.
You’re welcome
I really enjoy watching your cooking videos.
Thanks so much
Both dishes looked great 👍
Thanks very much
Another great video Jane. Hope by now you are feeling better. I went shopping after watching the video and bought a couple of times of corn beef and will be trying the the second dish, much as I like it I don’t eat much pastry as it doesn’t really agree with me. I paid £1.79 for a large tin of corned beef at Lidl I also checked the price of beef mince which was £5.49 a kilo.
I was amused to see you using saved fat. I always save and fat to reuse, it saves on costs and also adds flavour, when it’s not fit to save to reuse I mix it with a bit of wild bird seed and make a feed block for the birds.
12€+ for a kilo of minced beef here. I’m not paying that.
I must look at the corned beef in my supermarket. Great use of tinned meat! Those pasties look wonderful! Of course, you are from Cornwall so you are a pro! Thanks for the video!
It’s in the blood
It all looks fabulous. My mouth is watering at those pasties😊
Thanks very much, they were banging!
enjoyed your cooking corn beef lesson,I didn't know these recipes before and I'm going to try them out. Thanks!
Thanks so much
They look delicious. I like corned beef, particularly when it has been heated. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for watching
Brilliant Jane! I believe I'll be cooking both of these recipes in the upcoming weeks. Thank you for sharing. Good day Jane.
You’re welcome
Those meals both look yummy I will be trying both those dishes. Going shopping this evening so corn beef will be on the shopping list.
Thank You for this Jane and Mike.Appreciated.
You’re welcome
I buy corned beef hash and add fried eggs. So good.
Sounds great
Both look scrummy, great ideas on how to use corned beef. Thanks.
Thanks for watching
Great video today and luckily my son was in the room watching and I showed him the pasties and he asked me to make them. Its just us two so could freeze them easily. Thank you for the idea as I always have corned beef in, my nan used to cook with it alot and its a great staple and always have a tin or 3 in the cupboard. And the bake looked good aswell, just the pasties were the star today 👌 😊
Thanks for watching
Here in new england corned beef is just under $4.00 a can...but still a good cupboard staple stretches nicely. Susan
Still good to have as a store cupboard staple
Thank you for sharing❤️❤️❤️
Loved the video. Will be trying the recipes.
Thank you
I've been stocking up on canned meats & have a can of corned beef. The vegetable bake is something I'll try. Thank you! I really enjoy your channel.
Thanks so much
Looks yummy
I really enjoyed this episode. It’s interesting to see traditional British meals. I never knew how they corned the beef. Lol
It’s an old recipe, but still eaten
Love recipes Jane - thank you! Have to say you are an excellent “crimper” Will be trying both!
Thanks.
Hi Jane and Mike 🤗 Those pasties look delightful! I love any kind of pastry! Great ideas for using up tinned corned beef too😍
They were tasty
I love corned beef too. Tonight I'm having a corned beef sandwich for dinner. Your meals look delicious. I'm so glad to see you use that much fat in your pastry. I do too. Thanks for sharing ! Have a good weekend. 😘💐🍂🍃✝💗🇺🇸
Thanks for the feedback
I think you’re from pasty county aren’t you? You’re very good at the pastry edging. The edging is my favourite part of a pasty.
Yes I am.
Wow, that soup made my mouth water. How long do you freeze your cooked chicken for please? Some great meals, batch cooking saves so much time and money in the long run. Kind regards Angeline ❤️
As long as I need to - 1-2 months
Both of these meals looked really delicious 😋 I've got such a craving for a pasty now and yours look exactly how I remember having them in Cornwall many years ago, one is definitely enough for two meals though 😊
Thanks for watching
Love it! You made it look so simple… keep sharing please :) I’m subscribed!! 🙏
Thanks very much
Two more delicious recipes! Thank you!
You’re welcome
You had me at Corned Beef 😂
I love it
looks delicious, as a veggie I will try with something like quorn. have you cooked corn beef and gravy topped in a dish with a batter/pancake topping? had that many years ago its quick and tasty.
I’m sure a vegetarian substitute would be great
Your meals always look delicious Jane:)
Thank you
In the states it is hard to find corned beef that isn't hash. Hash adds potatoes.
👍👍👍
Thanks Jane for your corn beef recipes. I happen to have half a can of leftover corn beef in my fridge. Q., you baked corn beef veggie potato dish at a high temp but for how long?
Until it was cooked, every oven is different
Lovely jubbley x
It was
Hi! Question-do you blanch your veggies before you freeze them? I don’t-just wondering what the benefits are if you do.
Also-thank you for this video, I have a couple of tins of corned beef that were given to me but I didn’t really know what to make with them and was a bit hesitant. You’ve given me the courage to go for it!
Corned beef...cabbage and potatoes.
Enjoy , it’s very versatile
Your recipes look delicious! Do you serve the pasties hot or cold? I am not familiar with pasties. Thanks
Either
@@FrugalQueeninFrance I like corned beef and will certainly give these recipes a try.
Those dishes look very good. I'm glad you're feeling better. Missed you.
Thanks so much
Corned beef here in Uk has now gone up to £3.50/340g tin in my local Tesco
Just looked online £2 in sainsburys and asda
@@FrugalQueeninFrance
Hi not in my Sainsburys I’m afraid they only have 200g tins and Asda £2 tins are always out of stock.
@@northcotes4 any other shortages?
Don’t know in Asda as dont usually shop there.
Tesco has been hit & miss on some items but as I shop online substitutions are made for same price.
We haven’t gone without anything yet just prices creeping up. So adjusting what we buy.
Looks delicious!
