Maybe try manual focusing. That way you can set it to where it needs to be and the focus won't move. Your camera should have a zoom in function. When Manuel focusing you can zoom in to make sure the subjects in focus.
I wish I found this video a lot sooner. I knew there was something off about the chord voicings I choose when trying to emulate their sound. This just saved me hours or practise. Your teaching method is also pretty straight forward. As soon as you mentioned chord voicings, I realized what I did wrong. Thanks for the lessons!
@@stacknewbie3815 word, I only recently have been listening to some songs from them so I'm not too familiar with their chord choices outside of fairly basic progressions. Animals as Leaders is a band I have in mind for this lesson series
Nice, I'm looking forward to checking it out as soon as it drops. I'm currently watching the video on voice leading and I have to say, I never thought about it that way. The exercise you showcased would be a great way to learn the fretboard. Very comprehensive tutorials dude!
I've seen Mario and Erick play 5x55x7 as middle on the low E, index bar D+G, pinky high E. That fingering will work if you just want to strum the chords out. If you're hybrid picking you can do a lot more barring, but you just have to practice being careful not to hit the B and A string while hybrid picking. Hope that helps :)
Great playing but i think you dont fully grasp the theory behind it, no offence. it's just a minor 9 chord, and they dont use it as a Tonic all the time. in your example Story, it's the second chord not the tonic. the progression being 2 6 4 5 and repeat. in fall you write it as C#m7 nob3 addb13 . it's just a Amaj13. also it's true that every major7 chord is a minor9 but sometimes it doesnt make sense to see the chords in that way. What do you think? :)
It's been roughly a year since i filmed this video, and these days my thoughts about these chords are totally different. They're more aligned with what you're saying. For example... I used to look at 7x77x9 as DMaj7/B, but now that is just B-7add9 to me. I used to look at 8x789x as something like Cdim with odd extensions, but now that is just B13b9 to me. I definitely was overthinking in this video haha, I appreciate your comment :)
@@CrispJohnson interesting! I see the 8x789x as a F7#9 but with the 5th an the bass, instead of the root. Probably because I play lots of bossa Nova, and they use it often with that function. Or also a C full diminished b 13 I'd actually love to exchange views about Chon harmony, because I deeply want to understand why they sound like they sound. Maybe it could be nice to do it together?
@@francescoparenzan3474 that bossa nova idea is interesting, but i guess context would be the ultimate deciding factor as to what to call it haha. You can hit me up via Instagram or email anytime @crispjohnson 16newman.alec@gmail.com

@@howardmcmillian5764 thank you. I'm using a nikon d3500. I'm gonna play with the auto-focus settings so this doesn't happen again :)
very interesting sir ! thx a lot for this lesson !
I love this! More CHON would be cool. Or maybe Polyphia? Tricot are a bit weird with chords too. Keep up the good work!
This is awesome bro! Nice playing :)
thank you for this. i also kept noticing this chord when practicing CHON songs but didn't really think much of it until now
For sure. This lesson video seemed to be more popular, so I'm going to do this for other bands. Animals as Leaders will probably be next
This is so helpful! Thank you!

awesome dude I'm glad this helped, that's why I do these :)
Keep them coming, they're really helpful! I'd like to request a video on the chords of Unprocessed/Manuel Gardner Fernandes if possible. Stay safe.

Yezzir!! These chords are money
Barry Harris would love chon
Trying to figure out how to mute the A & B strings with this chord. Any tips?

@@CrispJohnson makes sense thx man
what kind of pickups are those ?
Oil City Black Hawks in the neck and bridge, Oil City Syrocax middle. Idk if the guy still makes pickups haha
