THANKS FOR THIS! I wish I saw this video 3 years ago................ 2:49 So, in real life sculpting working with clay - you would do the same. You quickly slap on chunks of clay that builds up the bulk of the anatomy. Then you go in after blending in the details.
i just bought the course, its incredible! im making a fantasy medieval game in dark souls style and this is a life saver as well as the ancient ruins blender vid. keep it up!
Great video. I really like the blocking phase of the 3d model. Its like making a sculpt in real life from an armature and clay by adding clay slabs and strips and sculting it in detail after. Great work!
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Love the processes with first getting the muscles done. I will try it as soon as I start making the characters for my game!
Yes, you are right... I am unable to follow him even after trying from past 1 months...Did you find anything better for character creation? if yes, please let me know@@dannyphantom2442
I am pretty impressed. My expectations were low because many tuts don't go as deep as yours. I thought this was rinse and repeat. NOPE! I learned several things that interested me. I will be checking this out ASAP. Thanks! I subscribed.
Omg I want to but I have some much question ! Actually, I know how to start with reference, blocking then sculpting but I don't know why I have so much trouble to make an armor and and the rig. I don't know how to sculpt the interior of the mouth too. I will buy the course
Ok every dam time I look up these type of videos they tell me nothing. For one how are you doing body. Every time I pull up the software I get this huge sphere with tools to work with.
Interesting Video ! I think I may buy the course in the next weeks. Do you explain how to animate and export the character into blender ? Is there also a LP/HP explanation ?
I know that I'm about a year late to this great video, but if you do see this I was wondering if you have any tips on getting started with remeshing, because that in itself has basically make my Blender journey come to a complete hault.
If you mean remeshing as in Retopology, like sculpting a mesh and then creating an animation friendly mesh around with clean topology etc. Then I honestly don't think there is a lot to it. There are a few principles to follow, the most important one being, what is the mesh for? Is it for a low poly game, that is one way to remesh, is it for a pixar style animation film, that is another way to remesh and so on. But most retopology aims to have more detail around bendable joints, like elbow, knees, shoulder etc. But then if you want to have great facial topology, that is all about looking into how the face deforms, there are lots of great reference on facial retopology out there. If you are thinking on a technical side, I would try out the technique I am using, aswell as the polybuild tool in blender, there are also some great addons but I would wait with that until you get the basics down. Hope this helps.
Can you please bring a course by explaining the steps you do in detail instead of ballparking the things? Like you create a neck muscle but you didn't explained in simple steps to follow, you just did number of steps and said this is like this...
That's what I hate about almost 90% of the courses here, they start slow and at some point they forget that they are showing things to begginers and just blaze trought stuff and you end up wondering how did they do some simple thing.. One of the reason why I'm trying to find actually good course that explains stuff step by step how it should be.. Its same with the Donut guy with some of his courses.. Thanks for your comment, helped with my decision wheter to buy it or not
@ a lot is changed in the unreal 5.3 and 5.4 with the new skelton tools- I am personally struggling with weights and retropolgy do you guys cover this - thanks for the reply - I’ll consider getting the course soon 👍
if you make mobile games or light weight games and plan to have your models on the lower side of quad count, you can get a lot of detail out with just 0.8k to 2k polygons per model if you know good 2D art to give off the impression of depth and in this case I suggest avoiding the sculpting phase and going straight to modelling so you save yourself a lot of retopology work and you may even skip completely the baking process. And even if you are bad at coloring or drawing you can easily learn some basic editing skills and turn real pictures into useable textures then you can use AI image generators to turn your edited images from real pictures into stylized textures, and if you don't know how to use AI to generate stylized verions of pictures then your last bet is learning how to draw. all considered this can cut down your work by 60 to 80%
Yes, it would be good to add to the discussion how optimized the model is. I'm new to game design but I guess that you have to limit the complexity of the character to not load the GPU too much. Or can LOD scaling handle this in e.g. Unreal Engine 5? The complexity of the model in this tutorial, what hardware would be required to render it in a reasonable FPS? (Given that the surroundings are in a similar level of detail and with raytracing quality of lightning)
Hi there, no the course does not cover implementing the character in Unity, the course mostly covers how to export your model with animation and textures etc, and then uses Unreal Engine as an example for how to bring it in, but the export should be the same for Unity and Unreal. Hope this helps :)
i saw the thumb nail and thought: another generic "how to game character" tutorial! but its not! its an awesome workflow, shown from start to finish. very interresting! edit: also very solid mustache!
Is you course beginner friendly? Does it explain every aspect and method in detail or is it rushed like this youtube video? For example i have no clue 80% of what you was talking about in this video,, like baking and texture or blueprints for colours etc. Thanks.
Hi there, the course is in realtime, so no part of the process is skipped or "rushed" through, however the course is suggested for people who are already familiar with the basics of Blender and concepts like modelling, texturing and so on.
I need to know the program people are using for sculpting and creating characters. I’m getting into game development for school and learning how to work UE and many others

Loved not only the design, but the whole process, specially the blocking!
10 hour course of this quality for $35 is a steal dude, thank you so much.
Literally, Critical Giants seems to know everything I need a tutorial on. I was just thinking about a game-ready character in blender a few days ago.
Just 5 mins in and I already got stuff down that you wouldn't learn till the second hour of most videos, Good job man you got my sub
It´s so much easier to follow along and more interesting when there are not tons of programs in the workflow. Nice work dude 👏

what a great way to start modeling, I would agree creating the muscles first are an excellent way to get great detail. thank you for creating this
bro the flute in the background i was so f confused i really thought i am in some stimulation
ive rewatched this so many times. thank you so much for providing this workflow
Amazingly insightful, such a masterful workflow, thank you sensei
I'm so glad I found this video. So great. Thanks a lot, man!

I'm just getting into using blender for game design so this was a huge help with getting to understand the general methodology
Thats awsome thx so much, great insight!

Thank you for this insightful video
My friend, in there 1:49, how do you modelled those scapulas and the spine? Greetings from Turkey.
This video helped cut my character creation process down by half with that retopology technique. I wish that it worked for hard surface as well.
Oh anatomy, im coming, baby! Cool work, marvelous to watch! ❤️
so many amazing tips here, thanks

Thanks for the tut, really needed it.
14:24 YOU CAN COLOR BONES!?
This is game changer.
You should check out Pierrick Picauts videos on rigging. He has a course for rigging game characters too and it is super in depth.
@@AntheousKriiI have already bought the Alive course from him 🎉
1:10 what app or website is that where you can plot your concept down like that and zoom in at any time on a black background?
It's called PureRef
Pureref, it’s free!
Most likely pureref
That is so good content, thanks!
Amazing video
does your paid tutorial go over vertex and texture painting?
What computer are u using?
Wow thank you, very informative 👍

what polycount limit would you give for each character within a game?
Hello do you do custom work looking to pay for custom characters
Incredible.
Is it good to draw everything in pencil on paper beforehand or is it better to do it digitally?
NOOOO 13:50 poor guy
Bro where can I learn all of this
Can those be uploaded to marvelous design?
Thanqu so much for video
Hi! Just one question! Did you use 2 rigs one for deformation and the other one to control or just one control rig?
thank you
Please tell how to make the game
I was wondering, isn't there a way to delete every polygon that are hidden ?
I'm on the fence about buying the course, anybody who already bought can help me make a decision please ? Thanks !
What app or web do you use
Amazing work 👍🏻
Love this video. Also, your moustache is absolutely fabulous.
do u have an updated course with unreal 5.4 and blender 4.2
No but it wouldn't really be any different

Minecraft
Roblox

How u learned everything in blender????
Good cuz I LOVE anatomy. I don't feel too bad about character skulpting now uwu
Why not use the Unreal Skeleton so you can transfer the animaions?
HOW DO YOU EVEN DEFINE GAME READY MAN.?
AM SERIOUS
Wow.. i can barely model a cartoony character.
Your muscle blocking blown my mind
How many polygons was it?
Hello, Does this type of rig and animation apply to Unity Mecanim?( Unity uses a specific humanoid system for animation reutilization)
The bell animation in the end lmao :D

Roughly 10 hours, is what this character took to complete.
How many times took this character
